I need some suggestions on a Blu-Ray player, to many to choose from I'm going crazy. I am just looking for something I can watch movies with built wifi at around 100-150. Or should I just dig a little deeper and get a PS3?

That's the route I went. I have a PS3 for each TV, and each gets more use as a Blu-Ray player than a game system. The plus side to it, however, is if there are any PS3 exclusives you want to try, you now have that option. Also, being 3D-capable is another nice bonus.

I was never sold on the 3-D effect so that is not a selling point, as for PS3 gaming I barely have any time to play on my 360 as it is. This is why I am so on the fence about getting a PS3. If I can find a decent BR player then the extra money that would have gone to getting a PS3 could go to getting more BR titles.

Great find, better reviews than the ones I have found and the price is just right. If I go with the Sony BDPS580 rather than the PS3 the extra money I am saving I can pick up the rest of the Harry Potter movies that are on sale this week.

Thanks Ivanhoe great find.

If you didn't need wifi their is a great sony blu ray network player for 79ish on amazon as well.

I have been staring at those 2 blu ray players.. and PS3s for the last few days trying to decide.

Sony Blu-Ray BDP-S580
Harry Potter 1-5
Terminator 2

With tax everything came out to about $181 :) it was real easy to hook up including the wifi setup and load times were amazing.

I might have to stop by again at BB and pick up Kill Bill 1&2 and Reservoir Dogs all from under $10 each. Thanks again Ivanhoe.

As an owner of the Panasonic BDT110 and Sony BDP-S580 (as well as a few older players), both of them are great choices. Keep in mind that the 2012 players are starting to show up, and should be considered as well. If you're looking for "hot deals," I'd go with the BDT110 for strict BD playback, or the S580 for internet content.

Sony has a slightly better internet content interface (netflix, mainly), but an annoying blue light that cannot be disabled unless you disable the front panel display entirely (the time counter).
