Blue Dragon price drop now only $39.99 new

Awesome, this has been high on my wanted list for a long time. It will definetly be something I pick up during the b2g1 free 12/26.

I really hated the characters in this game, I'll pick it up again at $20 as I did progress to the 2nd disc

down the toilet with blue fudgedragon! (for now)

That's an awesome value for a good classic JRPG
I've been playing it for 140 hours total now. Amazing RPG!

BTW, u do know that the game will come in 3 DVDs (yes, THREE DVDs)

I had two predictions this holiday season: that this would go on sale to $29.99 at some point; the other being Viva Pinata for $9.99 for Black Friday.

Of course, neither happened. But this is the next best thing.

Thanks OP!

This and Persona 3 are probably the RPG of the Year for me. Since Persona 3 isnt cheap, this is a great game to pick up.

I liked the game, but the lead character is a little annoying and later in the game there is a lot of background screen tearing as well as slowdown.

It's actually part of a weekly store special, but there wasn't anything else really on the list. Guitar Hero 1 +2 combo for PS2 is $50 ($10 off).

Awesome game, very close to beating it. I love the story and the characters. A very great traditional J-RPG. worth it to me when I got it at $60

Thanks OP, I needed one more title in the mid $30 range for the B2G1 next week. I think this might be it.

It's amazing how those idiots at Microsoft packed three DVD's into one single DVD case.

Now Eternal Sonata needs to drop as well. :)

Does anyone know if the $31.99 CC price (I think that's what it was) applies to their on-line stock as well? I have no CC locally, but I plan to zip to the Blue Dragon listing on CC.com as soon as the sale price takes effect.

most likely, hopefully Amazon will match it which they sometimes do during sales because much rather get it from Amazon

This game is worth getting it for $39.99. I got the game for $59.99 and I enjoyed every single minute of it. I don't understand how some people hate this game. This is a really good JRPG obviously not the best but its a good one in my opinion.

No kidding... I knew I'd only have time for one of these 2 games a few months back so I chose Blue Dragon. It figures it is the one to drop first :bomb:. Oh well, I know Eternal Sonata will drop sooner or later. I couldn't find a used copy at Gamecrazy (they were pretty cheap there I guess - $22 or something). Still, I'd prefer a new one from GS (or GC) for $29.99, so I'm holding out for that.

By the way, I loved the game and if you are a fan of JRPGs you won't be disappointed. addicted2games, I saw no screen tearing or slowdown issues when I played (all the way through and then some). Certainly it was nothing that got progressively worse.

Just beware of a glitch in the monster list that caused me to miss that achievement by one monster (a mandatory boss no less, that I fought early on).

I am about 8 hours in. Can you please explain that in more details?

It has been a while but I think near the end of the first disc, though it may be sooner than that, you fight a series of robot bosses on an airship. One of them, I found out MUCH later, never showed up in my monster log. Thus, when I got to the end of the game, making sure along my way to find all the rare monsters and such, I was still missing one. That one was never on any of the FAQs about hard-to-miss monsters because it was one you have to fight! Anyway, I don't know if anyone else has had this happen as I could find NOTHING on it whatsoever, but it happened to me, so it is possible. IF you are worried about that achievement, I suggest you follow one of the FAQs about it and make sure at each check point in the FAQ (where missable monsters are) that you make sure you have every one you are supposed to. Of course, this didn't help me because they don't list the ones you get automatically - so check for those 4 (I think) that you should get at that one point. If I fire the game back up again I'll look to see what number it is.

It has a general vibe to it that makes it feel like you're playing a good SNES RPG like Final Fantasy VI.

Then again I've been a fan of everything Sakaguchi's ever done (yes, that includes FF:The Spirits Within).

I love Blue Dragon it remind me of why I used to love Final Fantasy ever since it left the SNES I haven't really enjoyed the games as much with the exception of 9. Its nice to see Sakaguchi making games again.

It is somewhat like them in that the turn-based combat is similar. It has one improvement though - no random battles. You see all the monsters in the field and can avoid or engage as you wish, which is always appreciated. The story is not as good as DQ VIII, but then I consider that one of the best PS2 games there is, so that's not a fair comparison.

I could see holding off on this at $60, but at $40 it is a great buy (and of couse, as always, look for further discounts/coupons/etc). I want more games like this, so people please buy buy buy!

I did finally manage to snag a mint and complete (really it looks unplayed) Eternal Sonata from Gamecrazy for $15 (with the purchase of a Classic Controller for $20) during that deal a few weeks back. So I'm pretty happy about that.

I really wanted to play this JRPG, but the only thing that stopped me was the "depth of field", where objects even slightly far away got fuzzy (gave me a headache). Is there any way to turn that off? There wasn't a way to turn it off in the demo, but I am hoping that the game itself is different.

What? I didn't even notice that . I thought the graphics were fantastic overall though (esp. Mural Town ).

Personally I thought this really did feel like a Sakaguchi game, though nowhere near his best. I'd put it at basically the same level as Final Fantasy 5 (with which it shares a very similar "system"). IMO 5-10 and Chrono Trigger are all much better games, but this is still solid fun if you enjoy Japanese RPGs a lot.

I liked it a lot more than DQ 3, 7, and 8, though I haven't played 4 enough to know if I might like that one more.

my bro gave me this for christmas and i cant wait until i have time to crack it open. gotta get through zack and wiki first though :)
