BlueDragon more like boo it just drags on
Agreed. Boring ass game. I played it for like 3 hours and then sold it.

I've given up on most JRPGs on the 360 for some reason.

Only JRPG I've beaten on 360 is Eternal Sonata.
Eternal Sonata is great, though it's better on the PS3. Objectively, the best JRPG on the 360 is still Tales of Vesperia, with Lost Odyssey a close second.

Sounds like JRPGs just aren't your thing. Yes, BD did take a long time for it to pick up in the beginning, but so did Lost Odyssey and LO is leaps and bounds better than BD. I don't see you as the type that would pick up LO and give it a try, though, and it's a shame because that game was criminally overlooked.

JRPGs were better last gen (in your opinion, TC) because let's face it - how often did we ever see a good WRPG last gen?

People want to talk about WRPGs being progressive and changing the formula while proclaiming JRPGs are stuck in the past, repeating the same thing. Really? I haven't seen anything new or innovative as far as FPS games go.

And no, Borderlands does not say "Hi!" Adding a level-up system while consistently having damage values appear on-screen doesn't revolutionize nor revitalize the genre in any way, shape, or form.

How was Bioshock a change of pace, exactly? You have powers that you compliment your gunplay with? That's not a change of pace, and Bioshock was most certainly not the first FPS to do so. It was the most polished, but it failed to bring anything new to the table.

In the end, it's still just another FPS that follows the same typical FPS guidelines of yesteryear.

And since you believe your statement concerning JRPGs to be true - if you've played one WRPG, you've played them all. Ever since Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, nearly every WRPG released after that follows the same formula. It's not just Bioware games, most WRPGs derive their gameplay from KOTOR.

I just don't understand how someone can try and defend FPS's, as if they're more diverse, when they're just as guilty as JRPGs of repeating themselves...

The stories, character designs, and gameplay are completely different. They're just more enjoyable then going through some shitty dungeon and being interrupted in a battle every 5 seconds. The typical JRPG is just a shitty grindfest.

I played ToV, but got stuck and the FAQ at the time wasn't up to date, so I just quit it.

I'd like to pick it up again at some point, but it's expensive.

How is Magna Carta 2? I bought it semi cheap and haven't gotten around to playing it yet.

Mediocre, at best. The combat is really sub-par and it's just personal preference, but I really didn't like the visual style.

Blue Dragon definitely isn't the greatest JRPG I've ever played, but I enjoyed it. It does drag for a bit, but it picks up and becomes pretty good. It's definitely under rated though.
