Bob Barker retiring after 50 Years

whoa.

I haven't watched price is right in years (because I have to work meh)

so how long til we get season box sets lol :)
I'm pretty sure he's already been replaced with a look-alike replicant android.
first it was Dick Clarks robot, now a bob barker robot. who is next?

He will be missed. Ever since I was a little kid the Price is Right has been my favorite game show. These days with school and work I never get to watch it anymore.
Growing up, The Price is Right was the ultimate stay-home sick show.

Around here, you were like obligated to watch that if you didn't go to school.
I think it was like that everywhere.

I think the show should die when Barker retires. It will NEVER be the same show without him. A replacement would be retarded.

QFT, though I'm too PC to use a lousy phrase like "retarded" to describe what amonuts to little more than a bad idea.

It won't die, however, but keep this in mind: there hasn't been a good selection for a game show host since "Press Your Luck," and that show died 20 years ago. Prepare for disappointment, and prepare for utter disappointment.

Same here.

What's funny about this article is that I was just thinking about this today. I was saying to myself, I wonder when Bob Barker will retire/when will the Price is Right end. I hope they finish it off once he leaves and not put in some replacement. It just won't be the same.

It's too bad, because the show's gonna die when he takes off. It took 15-20 years, but the daytime game show format has died. Bummer.

I honestly thought he would do it until he died. I have been watching it for as long as I can remember, still to this day one of my favorite shows of all time. I set the TiVo to record it and watch it after work. :D

They should make it a reality show, have a different person co-host with Bob for a few months and then let the viewers pick the new replacement. It would be a marketing wet dream. "Toyota presents: You Pick the Next Bob"

Who has bets on his replacement?

Ryan Seacrest will probably worm his way into the running somehow. That bastard is everywhere.

Hey, OP! I smell a poll coming on! You should get one going with obvious candidates and then the option that they will not replace him and mercy kill the show. Either here or see if someone can hook up a vBookie betting event. :)

Barker musta made bank off that show considering they didnt spend a dime to update the set in the 200 years that the show was running

They should make a spin-off of the show about video games and Cheapy could host. Wombat could take the role of the late Rod Roddy.

I think everyone and their mothers grew up watching The Price is Right.
I'm gonna miss him.:applause:
grandparents too! ;) jk

like others said, it was the ultimate stay-at-home-sick show.

Watch some Price is Right, then NES for the next 8 hours :D

Whoever does replace him better not use the long, skinny microphone. That is off limits; Bob was the only one who should ever be able to use the long, skinny mic.

It hasn't quite been the same since Rod Roddy died, but it definitely won't be without Bob. I've watched that show for 20 years.

Is anybody else afraid that Bob is gonna die shortly after he retires? I mean you know the old saying about people staying alive so long as they have a job to do, and once that job is done they have little to no reason to keep going, right? Just look at Charles Schultz....

It's gonna be a sad day when Bob hangs up his mic.

You know, whoever had the idea for the reality show finding the replacement for Bob may have something.

It may be the only way The Price is Right could continue on. I'm sure the reality show would be crap, but giving America the chance to choose the next host creates somewhat of a reason for people to watch Price once Bob leaves.

America would probably pick an even worse host than the show's producers would though.

I also think it's funny that someone's user name is Plinko posting in a Price is Right topic.

I felt my post here was necessary, as the name was made in honor of the classic game.

I thought Ray Combs for Family Feud was good.

They oughta do it SNL style, with a different guest host each week. Oh, the possibilities...imagine Shatner up there, it would be priceless...

Retiring is no way a legend goes out. I always thought Bob was going to die during taping. I pictured some chick with Dolly Parton-esque breasts bouncing up to the stage when her name was called and Bob just wiping his brow with a handkerchief. Then he'd ask her name and she'd bounce around. Next thing you know, Bob strokes out and he's down for the count.

He's not retiring, he's being fired. He signed a three year deal last year and he even said he wouldn't last 3 years because they were looknig for someone else. I guess they found someone else and now are having him "retire".

It's weird, we were just talking about how old he was at work the other day. But it's about time, the guy looks like he's about to collapse at any moment. But it will be weird seeing anyone else on the Price is Right.

I'll miss watching him the 4 times I watch the show a year (when I was sick). But who thinks this will be one of those things were a person retires and then die's a few days later, or the retire and live to be 130.

It's really odd that he looks the same way now that he did way back when I was in elementary school.

Seriously, I thought he was a vampire for the longest time. Then I learned that he might just be such, so I kept my mouth shut....

'til now, that is.
