Bobby Fischer Found.....in Tokyo!

Whats up with the government going after these old guys? dont they have better things to do than go after an old chess player and a 70 year old army deserter?
 
Bring down the hammer of justice for being brazen enough to commit the heinous act of playing a chess match against international sanctions.
 
Fischer is one of those people who are always just a few steps from being comitted. He would be sorely unmissed if forsook chess for playing in traffic.

After reading the entire thing it's very intresting. I never knew there was such a shady world behind chess.

Also Fischer seems to really hate America now. I never knew that.
 
yeah if the government was after me for playing a stinking chess match, i would be hating just a little bit as well.

I didn't know much about Fischer other than he was a great chess player but after reading that article I lose all respect for him due to his being a dumbass nazi and all.

I'm an avid Chess player and I've read Bobby Fischer's book. He was a brutal chess player. He was able to decimate his oponents pieces in only a few moves.

You have to understand...Chess is a war game. Bobby Fisher was like Ghengis Khan. He may have a bad personality but he was a brillant tactician. He spent his entire life learning and living the game. For that, the Chess world respects him.
 
Doesn't America have more important things to worry about? Like, oh, lets say...OSAMA BIN LADEN???!!! What a country I live in... :(
 
I don't know which is more surprising, that there is a chess underground railroad, or that there is a need for one. On the run for 12 years for an illegal game of chess? Insane.

Fischer saying America should be wiped and and all his statements about jews is suffiecient evidence that he advocates the mass murder of Jews which is a characteristic of a Nazi. Therefore by the definition of Nazi Bobby Fischer is a Nazi.

Well, just because E x such that x e (Nazi) AND x e (Bobby Fischer) does not mean that (Nazi) == (Bobby Fischer). He may be kooky, but you can't go around calling people Nazis.

The definition of nazi has changed since world war 2. It no longer simply encompasses the political party of Germany of that era. Lableing someone a Nazi in the present day can be done even if thier beliefs are only loosely associated with those of Hitler's Nazis. language changes don't get stuck in an era your not even from and refuse to have an open mind and change.
 
But currnt day Nazis (Neo Nazi I belive they're called) are an orginization of people. I never heard of him belonging to that group.

The_Continental, thanks for that link. It was quite an interesting piece on Fischer; very enlightening on the enigma that is Fischer. Most of the info in that article was new to me. I didn't know he was so mentally unstable. He might've been the greatest chess player ever. Such a pity that things turned out the way they did for him.
 
Now they will have to make a sequal named the finding of Bobby Fischer. No doubt he will get upset for not getting royalties from that movie as well.

The movie had nothing to do with Bobby Fischer. It was about a child chess prodigy who they likened to Bobby Fischer.
 
There was a classic quote about Bobby Fischer one. Someone asked another grand master how someone with such mental difficulties could be so good at chess. And the master responded, "Chess isn't a game that drives sane men mad. It's a game that keeps mad men sane."
 
Anyone here play? And Fischer has already demanded royalties for the movie repeatedly, if you read that other article that Continental posted you'll get that idea that this guy is really off his rocker.

I never understood the whole where is bobby fischer thing I knew he was some chess player that won something then rode out into the sun so why such as big deal if he wants to be forgotten let him be. why wonder about him maybe he never wanted fame for playing chess maybe chess was his way out and it became his way.
