This is my first deal I've posted on here. I thought it would have already been posted.

BodieLobus is finally making available for pre-order their trackball PS2 controller using their Reflex Control technology. They're using Google CheckOut. Currently it's selling for $21.99, but if you use the referral code "trackballer" you receive it for $19.99. This is a limited offer deal. The deal started Monday 1/29 and they plan to increase the price $1 each week. The bad thing about this deal is that they're not planning on manufacturing any of the pre-orders until they have sold all 30,000 of the limited edition models. Shipping can be 6 months after they are all sold as well.

What's special about this model? You'll get to vote on the color sometime later this month. Plus, you'll get your own referral code for use on future orders(yours or others). The person with the most referrals wins the right to design the insignia that will be put on each limited edition controller. You also get a "20% Lifetime Discount" and an "Extended 2 Year Limited Warranty".

Hopefully someone here can try this deal out and let me know if this store qualifies for the $10 off for new Google CheckOut customers.

P.S. BodieLobus has stated that without any sales or support for the PS2 model they will not be able to release any versions for newer platforms. So I'd suggest buying one even if you don't own a PS2, especially if you want them to make one for the Xbox 360 or PS3.

After a little more research it seems that if you use any referral code you get the $2 off. If you check the BuyReflex.com site's Progess page you'll see a list of the Top 12 Referrers. If you use any of those you should get the discount.

Ugh, I was hoping for an actual trackball that would be BC with the Command and Conquer games and/or Warcraft II. That thing looks impossible to use. Still, 19.99 is a decent price, I just don't think I'd have any success with it.

No. This is one of those new ventures. Without help from the public it won't get off the ground. They need to sell 30,000 to get the first shipment manufactured. If nobody buys them then any future products will never get off the drawing board.

If 30,000 people who do own a PS2 don't buy one, that certainly doesn't justify the rest of the population to foot the bill.

The trackball controller was designed specifically for FPS. It's meant to come closest to the mouse and keyboard combination enjoyed by PC gamers. As you can see from the official list of PS2 games that support the controller most are FPS/action games, but there are a few RTS style games in there too.

Nobody is forcing you to buy it. If you don't want it, then don't buy it. However, those that are interested in it for PS3 and Xbox 360 (like myself) may not like the idea that a bunch of PS2 owners are the only ones that control whether or not it gets on their platforms. The controller should have been targeted at the platform with the most FPS games, but from what I understand it requires games that make use of mouselook and Xbox and Xbox 360 games currently don't support it. If there's enough interest in it from the PS2 crowd, then game developers might be willing to support it in the future on different platforms. With that said, I could see them not getting 30,000 PS2 gamers buying it, mainly because the PS2 has been succeeded by newer/better systems and because it didn't have a lot of FPS games that the controller is mainly targeted at. Plus, the company is not known much of all and it looks like they're hoping(maybe praying) for a word-of-mouth campaign to drive all of their sales. Give that a little bit of thought before you completely write off the idea of buying a controller you may not use. Who knows it might turn out to be a rare item and you might get more than enough money from selling it on eBay.

Azbat, why not go get a smartjoy frag for the PS2 and you can use any trackball you'd like.

another alternative is the Splitfish EdgeFX which is a mouse and nunchuck controller. Gamestops sell these.


This way you don't have to wait 6 months.

btw this on the site sounds fishy!

If you can’t hold it, you may of course cancel your order. Your payment will be refunded no less than 365 days from the start date of the promotion. Also, once the 30,000th order has been placed, all sales become final and nonrefundable. These are, after all, custom orders.

First of all, I can understand how some may feel that this may not be legit, but I've known about them for years. I've been on their mailing list to get updates on when they were going to release the controller. Do a search on Google and you will find all kinds of articles where sites had hands-on reports at last year's E3.

Second, anytime when young companies like these get started, buying their products is mostly an investment in their future and that does requires some risk. If the risk is too much, then don't buy. Personally, I don't have a problem investing $20 in the controller because the reward is worth it in my case.

Lastly, I don't own a PS2 and I don't want a mouse and keyboard in my living room. I'm getting it in hopes that they will get the orders they need to be able sell a Xbox 360 version. Who knows, maybe a PS2-to-360 adapter will get it to work. Or I might just sell it on eBay. Either way, $20 is a small investment and if they don't make the controller I'll get my refund I'm sure.

Anyway, I figured some here would be interested, but I also understand a few others wouldn't. I just posted the deal to get the word out.

LOL, I don't work them directly or indirectly. I'm a full-time land surveyor and a father of 3. I don't get paid to do anything outside of those 2 jobs. I just posted the deal because I hadn't seen it posted here and that I'm interested in helping BodieLobus getting the necessary support to allow them to make a 360 version down the road. Anyway, I had already posted it on my favorite forum a week ago(Beyond3D.com). We've been talking about the company and the technology for the past couple of years there.

Nice find. Hadn't found that one before. Unfortunately, I'm not sure it's available and even if it was I'm not even sure it works on anything other than PC. That same website you linked had a few more details, but only mentioned the trackball in relation to the PC version. I did do a little searching and found the Hong Kong company's website:

I didn't find that controller on the site. They had the non-trackball version, but that was it.

Anyway, from the discussion on my other forum it seems that just placing a trackball on the controller will not make it work like a mouse. The games have to specifically support the MouseLook feature available on all PC games. No Xbox/Xbox 360 games currently support it and only a few PS2 games do. With Microsoft's unwillingness to support the mouse on their consoles, I'm not exactly sure game developers have much choice. It's possible BodieLobus may never get their controller to work with the Xbox or Xbox 360. However, I'm hopeful that if enough people show interest in the Reflex PS2 controller Microsoft might change their mind. Who knows, maybe they'll license the technology themselves and make one?
