Arkansas National Guardsman Mikel Brooks stepped through the food service entrance of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center Monday, flipped on the light at the end of his machine gun, and started pointing out bodies.

"Don't step in that blood - it's contaminated," he said. "That one with his arm sticking up in the air, he's an old man."
Then he shined the light on the smaller human figure under the white sheet next to the elderly man.

"That's a kid," he said. "There's another one in the freezer, a 7-year-old with her throat cut."

He moved on, walking quickly through the darkness, pulling his camouflage shirt to his face to screen out the overwhelming odor.
"There's an old woman," he said, pointing to a wheelchair covered by a sheet. "I escorted her in myself. And that old man got bludgeoned to death," he said of the body lying on the floor next to the wheelchair.

Brooks and several other Guardsmen said they had seen between 30 and 40 more bodies in the Convention Center's freezer. "It's not on, but at least you can shut the door," said fellow Guardsman Phillip Thompson.

...................

One of the bodies, they said, was a girl they estimated to be 5 years old. Though they could not confirm it, they had heard she was gang-raped.

"There was an old lady that said the little girl had been raped by two or three guys, and that she had told another unit. But they said they couldn't do anything about it with all the people there," Brooks said. "I would have put him in cuffs, stuck him in the freezer and left him there."

Brooks and his unit came to New Orleans not long after serving a year of combat duty in Iraq, taking on gunfire and bombs, while losing comrades with regularity. Still, the scene at the Convention Center, where they conducted an evacuation this week, left him shell-shocked.

"I ain't got the stomach for it, even after what I saw in Iraq," said Brooks, referring to the freezer where the bulk of the bodies sat decomposing. "In Iraq, it's one-on-one. It's war. It's fair. Here, it's just crazy. It's anarchy. When you get down to killing and raping people in the streets for food and water … And this is America. This is just 300 miles south of where I live."

I want to know what kind of animal would cut the throat of a 7 year old. To think they're probably out there somewhere and have a better shot at collecting their $2,000 debit card instead of being hunted like an animal.

i wish the police had their faces so they could be found and could be fed to angry, hungry dogs.
fucking monsters.

Its all really sad, but nobody should be shocked about it. People going crazy over some food and water, its ok to get stress a bit, but raping little children, kiliing people, thats crossing the line big time, but in due time, the wicked shall get thiers.

Satan is busy these days.
So....we going to blame this on Bush? I'm sure Kayne West will, as well as all black entertainers.
It's always funny when someone makes a comment about an individuals inability to care and how far some people go to twist it.
I only seen one black entertainer make some weird comment about bush., Am i missing something here? Who else said something about bush?
Not a comment, but everyone agreeing with Kanyes comment (P. Diddy or whatever he wants to be called this year, as well as a few others that escape me as I don't listen to cRAP music)

my, what an evolved and utterly urbane statment!

I've never seen anyone put a C on the front of 'rap' before!!!

how terribly clever of you!!!

This is the first time I've read about a 5 year old being gang raped. That must be the sickest thing a group of people can do.

Thanks. Took me atleast 35 minutes tot think of it, but when I did, it was just amazing!

A little off topic, but I was at a record store in barrie, ontario that labelled the rap section "cRAP", put a sign up next to it telling rap customers the cases did not have cd's, you people always steal the cases and you cause us to up our prices etc., put practically every modern black singer in the "cRAP" category (pop singers included), and there was a black guy in the store and the guy (old, bearded guy, probably the owner) kept watching him and asking him if he needed help. The whole thing seemed racist. I never had a similar experience in a store before (except for the clerk watching minorities part). This store had some obscure stuff I was going to buy too, which is what was so aggravating.

I heard of it. I can understand a few sickos seizing the opportunity to do what they always wanted, but to think that, in all this chaos, they'd actually find a group of people who had the same sick fantasy is the suprising part.

That's just sick. I hope that the money I donated is going to the people who deserve to be helped, not the kind of people who would slit the throat of a 7 year old kid and rape a 5 year old girl.

Not a big fan of human nature are we?

This is disgusting. I'm ashamed to be of the same country as the sickos who rape innocent children and slit the throat of a fucking seven year old. They don't deserve to live

:applause: Hilarious man

It is cRAP music. There is no lower form of music. I'd rather be trapped listening to broadway show tunes or country music than the shit they play on MTV all day.

Serious question, when did they stop advancing cRAP videos? When did every video stop moving beyond g-string chicks, a pimped out ride(s), lots of diamonds and a house?

Now now, PAD, you're completely dismissing the whole "rapper in prison" video motif. :D

Seriously, though: there are some good things going on in modern hip hop, same as in any genre. MTV just pushes the lowest common denominator of music across the board. Occasionally a quality artist slips past the goalie, but hell, even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and again.

Well, like almost all music, semi intelligent songs usually advocate liberal views. But Michael Franti (spearhead) produces good rap music, but you probably wouldn't like it cause he's liberal.

Though I lost interest in mainstream rap when gangsta rap died.
One of my favorite bands from my youth were the Dead Kennedys. You going to accuse them of rampant out of control far right extremeism?
Well I've heard of them, but know nothing about them. Google is saying they're liberal though, so I guess not. But if you will listen to overtly liberal groups, then try michael franti.

"California Uber Alles" comes to mind.

Of course I'm kidding. They took potshots at a few democrats from time to time, but that doesn't at all dismiss such classics as "In God We Trust, Inc." and "Bedtime for Democracy," both of which were entire Opuses (Opum?) focused on blasting Reagan-style Republicanism.

Shame about what happened to the band. We may not agree on anything, PAD, but I hope that you had some scruples, and avoided seeing the Dead Courtship of Eddie's Father Kennedys when they toured several years back.

Lamentably, none of my friends had those scruples (though I didn't go).

EDIT: If you like DK, I hope you have a similar appreciation of Reagan Youth.

I had this conversation with my officemate, who loathes hip-hop music. He refuses to refer to it as music, claiming that it lacks vocalizations, rhythm, and some other things (he likes to play the logical deduction game, and he rarely argues points emotively). I pointed out a few examples where he was wrong about what rap lacks, and he's probably just nauseated by the overt materialism in Rap. Long story short, we only came to agree that the only thing intended to be music that could not be classified as such, due to a lack of planned rhythm, poor vocals, and generally failing to follow any tenets of musical theory was Yoko fucking Ono.

Maybe Diamanda Galas, but he never heard of her.

Yoko's so postmodern it makes me puke.

But Yoko really isn't postmodern - she's a charlatan.

Almost 10 years back she still claimed to be part of the fluxus movement, and put a sign on her museum paintings stating that "No one can tell you not to touch the art."

When an artist named Jake Platt picked up a red marker, took her up on her offer, and started improving her work, Yoko Ono had him arrested and charged.
