I have never played any version of this game, but I have heard great things about it over the years.

Is the N64 version any good? And, just to make sure, this is a puzzle-type game (with action elements) that is fun multiplayer right?

The first n64 one was great. I have the second, but can't remember if I never played it or just don't remember it.

I never really liked previous bombermans.

the second (bomberman hero) didnt have multiplayer play, which many agree was the best part of the series

personally, i like the other games better than the 64 version (which was a bit more actiony) but its overall a great game series

i hate the NES version.. it totally sucks.. the SNES versions were the best (in terms of multiplayer) i love the GBA Bomberman Tournament (1 cart 4 players.. that rules).. the 64 versions weren't as good as the SNES versions..(but are easier to find).. but get the first one "bomberman 64" has the classic multiplayer that will be enjoyed by friends.. i hear teh DC version is excellent to (had online capabilities in its prime)

The best is 10-player simultaneous Saturn Bomberman, but it does cost a bit and you have to have a Saturn and two adapters, 10 controllers for the ultimate Bomberman experience. A SNES and 5 controllers would probably suffice a pretty awesome.

Bomberman 64 was great and a blast to play, even in single player mode. Bomberman Hero sucked. Bomberman: The Second Attack (pretty much Bomberman 64-2) was very unmemorable.

The hardest part about many of these older, non halo/sports multiplayer games is how many people do you know who actually want to play them? Finding one or two people isn't that tough usually, but 9 extra people to play bomberman on saturn?

My buddies and I would play 10-man Bomberman one weekend every month. It really is a pain to get that many people together and to find that many controllers though.

Going to hell, yeah, I know.[/QUOTE]

Jesus. How can you joke about such things? I mean I know you added in that, oh so clever, going to hell thing, but seriously. I like to think there is very little that I won't make fun of, but making of tragic deaths is just horrible. I hope you die a horrible death and people laugh at you.

I am lucky enough to have two siblings who love Bomberman, so I'm always guaranteed at least a 3-player game. When other people are over, it just gets better! I started out with Bomberman 2 on the SNES... I bought a used copy along with a SNES multitap back in the summer of '97, and I had an absolute blast. That one might have five-player support, but I forget... definitely 4-player support though.

Later on I got "Atomic Bomberman" for PC. It didn't seem as fully-featured as the other games, but it was customizable on almost every level, which was pretty cool, and it had really stylish graphics and sounds. Then I got Bomberman World on PS1, but that one was sort of ugly. Then Bomberman Party Edition came out, which was much better. That one had these weird dinosaurs and things that you could ride on. The last one I got was Bomberman Online for Dreamcast. That one is very polished... I don't think it has those animals you can ride on, but it has some extra modes that are a blast to play. "Hyper Bomb" is awesome; some of the most frantic multiplayer gaming I've ever experienced!

I'd love to get Bomberman 4 on SNES but I think it's import-only. I think that one may have been the first to use the "miso bomb" rule, which really enhanced all the Bomberman titles in a major way. When you get killed, instead of just dying, you get ejected to the borders of the screen. You can go around the edges and throw bombs; if you manage to kill someone you are back in the match! I think every bomberman since then has let you do that.

The SNES version is the definitive version. The Saturn version allowed 10 players I think, but my favorite of late is the DS version that just came out. You can have 8 players with the dual screens in WiFi mode. Can't beat that. You only need one cart to do it too since it downloads to anyone who doesn't have it. :bouncy:

True that, unfortunately.

start with the cheapest bomberman you can find with most updated graphics. That way you can enjoy it's greatness without having a close to empty wallet.
