Book-Off (NYC/CA/HI) TIV for February

CAGiversary!
Q: What is Book Off?

A: A books, CD, DVDs and games retailer incorporated in Torrance, CA with a Japanese and Japanese-American clientele and focus. Here's a list of their locations.

Q: Why do I care?

A: If you live near one, they have pretty decent trade-in values usually. They pay in cash.

For the past year and possibly before that they offer monthly TIV values. Here's what I know about their trade-ins, but it's by no means comprehensive:

1) They take everything in the NY store - books, DVDs, any kind of game etc.

2) They only take games complete. I don't know about a manual, they might deduct, they might not from what I do know.

3) Most months they have advertised trade-in values for certain games.

Here are the advertised ones in the New York store for the month of February. I don't know if they're consistent at all the stores. Perhaps someone can tell me if they know and I'll add it, or any other information, to the OP.
LOL, worse TIV than Gamestop on many of these.
on H/W maybe, but they always beat GS I've only had GS beat them once and that was because a 50% additional promotion was used on a very current game. And don't forget they only pay cash !!

Additionally they use the GS website to establish their TIV's, I believe only games selling for 7$ and up at GS get the 2$ TIV.

maybe consoles but GS doesn't give $30+ for games unless there's a promo and even with that this is cash.

I'm wonder if those "system" tivs for 360 wired/less are just for controllers or what
Wait Castlevania 2 isnt even out?
Yeah I don't know about that one. It was listed in January also, and for a higher value. I think they just got some bad info. The 3ds one is out 3/5 in North America.

I think they're for 360 elites but I could be totally wrong.

Be aware that their values don't always hold. I forget when exactly but two or three months ago, many games saw their value tank, including Resident Evil 6, and then they skipped the following month.

Arcade units came with wired controllers, but also I'm assuming they'll accept a trade in with a wired controller if that's what you're offering.

The offered values for old 360s and the redesign is far too close though, in my opinion. Buying a used old-style 360 is like playing Russian Roulette with one empty chamber.

I come here from time to time (I live in NYC)... some of the prices range from Ridiculous to Mind blowing. For example, i sold my mangas / blu ray there and they buy back any mangas for 10 cents and for Blu ray movies its 3 bucks cashback, TV series is 6 bucks. But yeah overall, they are a great price to sell games / consoles

assassins creed 3 and cod black ops 2 ( ps3, xbox 360 only) are pretty good prices for cash, if the value is indeed that much.

What this thread needs is a pic of the pricing sheet they use to calculate trade in values on used games. I would ask the book off rep if you can take a look next time you're in store. I had a pic of the old one but it's out of date now.

I'm moving to torrance next month, I can convert some gs credit to cash and buy some furniture. Thanks op!!!

I know this was back in february, but I learned they base their values off of gamestop's website
