I know this is not a current movie, but after seeing it listed as some people's favorite movie, I thought I'd check it out so I rented it last weekend. I even read some of the reviews on Amazon first and it sounded like it was the Second Coming of Tarantino. Then I watched it. Well "watched" probably isn't the best term - how about "stared at the screen in slack-jawed horror"? The plot was laughable and the acting made Clerks look like the Godfather. Willem Dafoe must have had some serious bills to take on that movie. And you know you're in some serious shit when Billy "Head of the Class" Connolly is the big badass of the movie. I can be forgiving when it comes to personal taste in movies. I know I'm not always going to agree with someone's opinion but I cannot fathom how anyone could think this is one of the Top Ten movies. Have you ever seen a movie before? Maybe if you've only seen Ben Affleck or Madonna movies, this would seem like a gem, but otherwise, seriously, WTF?!?

Can anyone defend this film fiasco?

It's about two brothers who go around killing "evil men". What's not to love?

Also, a cat gets shot. If that doesn't bring a smile to your face, nothing will.

No, you're correct. It's one of mankind's most awful crimes.

The cat scene is great. Almost as great as the Marvin scene in Pulp Fiction.

Edit- But yeah, you are correct. It's kind of a fun movie, but it really isn't good. I don't get why everyone else loves it so much.

Um, i am not sure whats wrong with you, this movie is great. It is hilarious at many points. How could you not be entertained by the two protagonists taking out a room full of thugs by accidently falling through an air duct, hanging by their damned feet, and shooting them all in a span of five seconds? Or Dafoes excellent portrayal of a genius investigator who is gay, but dislikes "fags"? And the way they show what happenned by having Dafoe's character recreate the scene of the crime only by the evidence left behind? And the funny stuff? Stuff funny enough to make you laugh!

It's not horrible, but yeah it's not a classic either. Maybe lots of people saw it when they were impressionable, so they think it's the "best movie ever."

If by "impressionable" you mean "high", I might understand it. :)

I dont think its one of the best movies ever, but I found it enjoyable. Many people dont catch that what they are doing is a quest appointed by God (atleast people I've talked to who have seen it). The scene where they are in bed and the water drops on their foreheads is when they are appointed by God to be his executioners. :D

Yeah, I got that part. I'm not saying it's a terrible idea for a movie, just bad execution in making it. It could be good with a new writer, director and cast.

I don't think this is one of the best movies ever. It is, however, a very good film in my humble opinion. I don't think it's really a movie to be taken very seriously. If the filmmakers intended it to be taken seriously, then they failed misserably, and I would agree with you 100%. I think it pretty damn funny personally and that is where I think the movie excels.

High/young/etc, all the same.
