booze and drinks, 21+ only

I drank early in the morning on a Tuesday this week. Is it alcoholism, or is it being a college student?
It was because, my college has a day called 'Spree Day' when they cancel all the classes, and have a carnival on the green, with a semi-famous band performing (this year we got some beatboxer who used to be in the roots) and everyone gets trashed. Drinking in the morning is interesting, I was pretty drunk, but I didn't feel it at all later in the day, or the next day.

whisky, whiskey, beer and wine

for bourbon:
- all purpose: woodford reserve
- special occasions: buffalo trace
- budget: elijah craig

for scotch
- islay : laphroaig
- speyside: macallan (when i got the cash)
- highland: dalmore

i take my spirits neat or with a dash of water to open them up

oregon beers are my personal favorite
- bridgeport's ipa
- rouge's imperial
- deschutte's black butte porter

i'm partial to organic wines because they don't use sulfites.
- loire valley whites
- argentinian malbec
- chablis from dijon area
- pinot noir from oregon
- shiraz from australia

you could always just drink a sprite and enjoy yourself....

nah, in public settings like that, unless you're at a club, or planning on partying, don't go above a beer. it's idiotic to drink whiskey or vodka if all you're going to do is sit around and talk. that's stupid. keep it simple if you know it's not going to be anything special, especially if you can't hold your weight.

dark beer if you really fel like celebrating but don't want to drink anything hard.

why else do you drink whiskey, let alone any alcoholic beverage?

i don't mix drinks because i don't like sweet flavored things in general, and the last thing i need is something that tastes like coca cola at the end of the day.

i'm not a snob, none of the spirits i listed are really all that expensive, but the ONLY reason i drink them is to sit around and talk.

i guess maybe i'm done with the college world of needing to be drunk to be interesting or charming.

from expirence, those who drink hard at lame parties usually embarrass themselves badly

if its an office party, it's going to be lame (unless you work at a GREAT one) so why drink hard? save that for a club where you know you are going to throw on that dance and stuff and try to fuck something.

if i were at his office party, you would catch me w/a dark beer, maybe popping a cheap bottle. nothing strong enough to forget where i'm at and nothing light enough to be basically drinking water.

Some people just love the drinks themselves. I seldom get drunk anymore, but I love having a good beer. Especially a good imperial stout or IPA.

Better in the company of one of my fellow beer snob friends, but still delicious at any time. :D

Stay away from an Irish car bomb. Don't know what all is in it but I had one new years and I was going to kill the person that gave it to me. almost made me never want to drink again. infact nothing has tasted the same since then.

Just because you have a strong drink doesn't mean you're going to get shitfaced and make a fool of yourself. Some people have restraint.

Jameson's and Bailey's, dropped into half a Guinness and slammed. It's a bachelor party staple around here. :)

If you get one (in general, not for this specific party), get it early, while you still have your wits about you. I've seen people break teeth on the shot glass.

This man speaks the truth. I haven't been walking-crooked drunk in at least 5 years, and haven't been puke drunk in close to 10, yet I often enjoy a nice cask strength scotch (57% alcohol)--and usually a double or a triple at that.

I highly suggest trying a drink called "dirty bong water" not to be confused with actual dirty bong water, but it is the bomb, it's like a weak long island but tastes sooooooooo good!

I like a Tom Collins in the spring: gin, lemon juice, sugar or simple syrup and club soda, garnished with an orange, a good bourbon with a coke on the side, or an old-fashioned: whiskey, simple syrup and bitters.
But since this is a work f(x) stick with beer and don't get shit tanked

First thing I had was the car bomb and I was trying to make sure I didnt break my teeth with the shot glass. Just to let you know I did not break my teeth.

I'd say avoid anything with "bomb"
I think you let it curdle.
It did near the last of it. From the start it tasted like shit.

I drink rich and rare whiskey. I get lonely and sometimes its my only friend. Its cheap and makes me feel good.... then bad.... then terrible

you suck - car bombs kick ass. guinness stout, jameson, and baileys down the hatch in about 5 seconds. it taste to me like a chocolate coffee or some shit. i saw one guy said he liked flaming shots of wild turkey, i didn't know that would light on fire. I thought it had to be 151 or grain alcohol. anyway the answer to your question in a roundabout way

back to back shots of 151 or a barmat

cant go wrong either way
If you don't mind me asking, which of the Big 4 are you at?
not a big 4, friedman we have 3 office, one in nj one in ny and one in long island

well when all is said and done it wasnt quite a top shelf night but they had some good vodka and so a few of them, jack and coke's, gin and tonic, gin and juice---this sucks, and a couple heinekens (the other option was michelob light).

and i kept my composure, and had a good time over all. they even bus us there from the office then back again, the bus ride is often the best part lots of talking laughing etc etc.

If I'm doing hard alcohol, I usually have Jack and Diet Coke. Very rarely do I stray from that.

As far as beer goes, I rarely drink it. No matter how much beer I drink, I always feel like garbage afterwards. Something in beer just doesn't agree with my stomach. I don't puke or anything after one beer, but the next morning, my gut is rumbling and making strange noises.

im afraid i am a bit of a beer snob, a friend and myself actually brew beer and it comes out damn good :)

so we dont settle for crap beer unless its to drink massive quantities of(drinking games)

BEER SH*TS!!

i grew up in oregon, homebrew capital of the us, so i totally know what you mean.

fresh beer is sooo much tastier.

I remember for my 16th b-day my old man bought me a brew kit :D

This is true. Hell, most people are unaware when I'm drunk into I either start to walk around and / or my face starts to turn super red (it's always a shade a red).

I'm a beer man, give me my 12-pack of Bud Light and I'm happy. Liquor fucks me up something fierce, and I almost always end up doing something stupid.
I wish my office did fun things. We work in the boonies and once in a blue moon do something lame like goto the generic mexican chain restaurant around the corner.

Mahattans are ok if you like Bourbon, but if you're goin for hard core drinks like that I'd start with a dry Martini, w/olives of course

Gin and Tonic - Get a respectable gin like Tanqueray.

Red Bull & Vodka - Gets the party started. I heard on the radio it's good w/grape vodka.

Get some shots, like Kamekazes, Soco and Lime, or if you dare the Red Headed Slut (Jagermesiter in this...)
I prefer blonde headed sluts. (pineapple ftw)

It won't win any taste awards but they really mess you up. (if you're going for that) A buddy of mine got me to try it and now I'll get it from time to time. Rounded one of my nights out with a couple of them back to back and have faint memories of the rest of the night.

I had a Royal Flush the other night, and it wasn't bad for a shot, very smooth:

- Crown Royal
- Peach Schnapps
- Cranberry Juice

That sounds lovely! I'll have to try one the next time I'm out.
Yeah you can. Jack Daniels is trash. It's what I refer to as "the redneck shield." Find a hillbilly who is drunk on JD, and the one persistent thing is that they're violent as fuck and think they're totally unstoppable. It's trash whiskey and it's annoying.
Not to mention it tastes like fermented dog cock.......Jack Daniels and Southern Comfort are two liquors that shouldn't be consumed past the age of 16, until you're at least 80 and can't taste shit at that point anyhow....

Drink bourbon instead. Try it neat. Take tiny sips, let it roll around your tongue.

Amen....start with Makers Mark on the rocks and let the ice melt down a little bit, although this isn't the drink for a hot day.....if I may be so bold, also consider aged Rums. They are fantastic straight up or on the rocks, Coyopa, Fluers De Canya, hell even some of the Appleton Estates....Pyrat...try them, they are all much more "mellow" than Scotch (I think scotch is just about the worst tasting stuff on earth, no matter what it costs)....I like em with a Cigar, and not the kind you buy at CVS.

Okay, scratch that last part. Get fucked up: but if you're going to, just drink cheap $5/12pack beer.

I'm still mourning the demise of Meister Brau

I'll slap the shit out of you for mixing Jameson. ;)

And now you're off track...Jameson's is the Budweiser of Irish Whisky.....unless you're talking about some obscure cask-strength crap thats $200+ a bottle...but to me Jamesons is best splashed in coffee and thats about it. I mean, its the color of piss :p

OP, what's the weather like where you're at?

Yeah, on a hot day I'd have to recommend either Gin or Vodka and tonic's....and again, the man speaks truth, don't waste a Tanguray 10 or Bombay Sapphire or my personal favorite Citadelle with tonic, since the Tonic just crushes your tastebuds anyhow.

As for the other knuckleheads recommending shots and Redbull Cocktails......ehhh...yeah.
Impress your elders, order a Manhattan.....
Thinking of going into accounting. Any suggestions or reflections?
Unless you can maintain a mid 3.xx GPA, have a ton of networking connections, and have secured an internship at a large CPA firm, don't bother.

I went this route and regret it big time. Professors will sell the shit out of it, but do your research first.
