Borderlands 1 Vanilla vs GOTY

CAGiversary!
So I'm just now deciding to play Borderlands (late i know....) and can't make up my mind whether I should play the vanilla or get the goty edition. I just want to play through it and if i like it I'll pick up Borderlands 2. Just want to know if the dlc are worth the extra play time + money or if I should just play through quick and just pick up BL2.

There is no quick play with borderlands;) really depends on how much you like the game and how many hours you want to sink into it

I enjoyed the entire game, but my favorite part was the Zombie Island DLC. I'd just get the GotY edition. It's easy enough to find it for cheap now. Also, I hated the game at first, but once I got up to about level 10 and started finding some really awesome guns, I fell in love with it and the rest of my playthrough was a blast. So I recommend sticking with it for a while.

Like shadowkast said, there is no quick play through, both Borderlands 1 and Borderlands 2 pack so much content into the game that you'll stay busy for awhile. You'll get lots more playtime too if you are a completionist and want to explore the side missions.

One thing I have to say, is that the game is significantly more fun when played with a friend. I played Borderlands 1 when it first came out alone, and I thought it was an awesome game but I got bored halfway through. Played it the second time with a buddy, we got 100% and probably put 60+ hours into the game, including the DLC. If you plan on playing with a friend, just do yourself a favor and get the GOTY edition. I am normally against DLC because honestly, most of the time its a waste of money. But they did an excellent job with the DLC in Borderlands 1. Zombie Island was really fun, Underdome Riot was eh, but Secret Armory and Claptrap's Revolution are possibly better than the core game of Borderlands 2. Definitely worth the additional $10-15.
