Like shadowkast said, there is no quick play through, both Borderlands 1 and Borderlands 2 pack so much content into the game that you'll stay busy for awhile. You'll get lots more playtime too if you are a completionist and want to explore the side missions.
One thing I have to say, is that the game is significantly more fun when played with a friend. I played Borderlands 1 when it first came out alone, and I thought it was an awesome game but I got bored halfway through. Played it the second time with a buddy, we got 100% and probably put 60+ hours into the game, including the DLC. If you plan on playing with a friend, just do yourself a favor and get the GOTY edition. I am normally against DLC because honestly, most of the time its a waste of money. But they did an excellent job with the DLC in Borderlands 1. Zombie Island was really fun, Underdome Riot was eh, but Secret Armory and Claptrap's Revolution are possibly better than the core game of Borderlands 2. Definitely worth the additional $10-15.
