Borderlands+All DLC $19.99/$14.99 PSN

shenannygans aside, what's the best video review available for this? Been interested in it quite awhile and $15 for the whole thing is tempting.

It's a decent bit, but has some flaws. One thing that gets annoying is that level > stats. You can have the best level 10 weapon, but you couldnt kill a level 17. So on and so forth. You will get 20 usd of enjoyment though.

Borderlands is my second favorite game of this gen after Mass Effect 2. It's addicting and you can easily lose dozens or hundreds of hours to it. I even enjoyed the Mad Moxxi and Claptrap DLCs (although it's true that the other two are far superior).

This is basicly the goty edition for 20, thats good to me. I still have my goty edition for my 360 that I got from the power sale a while back. I'll play it sooner or later. Which character should I start with ? Any recommendations for a first time player of borderlands ?

Its more fun than a barrel of monkeys :applause: seriously though, this is one of my favorite games ever! I have over 100 hours on the xbox version.

I personally loved Mordecai (sniper class) Once his bloodwing (pet bird that flies out and kills enemies) is leveled up and your sniper skills are leveled, you're a badass. Lilith is pretty cool to use also (siren/elemental/ smg specialist). All classes are fun to play though. The soldier class is probably the most "noob" friendly to use, he has a turret that he can throw out that you can upgrade to make it have health and ammo regeneration.

Soldier or Hunter is the way to go. With the right class mod, stat tree, and gear you can be unstoppable with either one. It really just depends on your weapon preference. When I play soldier I use assault rifles, shotguns, and sometimes SMG (because the Double Bitch is ridiculous) paired up with a team ammo regen class mod. When I use the hunter, it's revolvers, pistols, and sniper rifles all the way. Hunters can get a class mod that does +90% pistol fire rate and pistol ammo regen. For most of the game you will probably think repeaters (pistols) suck just like I did, but that all changes when you have a scoped one that does 400 dam and empties a ~60 clip in about 2 seconds. :D

That hunter combo sounds badass and just my style too. Quick massive damage with ammo regain ? Yes please ! Thanks

When I finally found a chimera for my hunter, I was happier than a pig in shit! Now thats a badass pistol! I maxed out my pistol tree and was basically unstoppable...until I played the general knoxx DLC that is

Never running out of ammo was the shit!
If I were to gameshare with a friend, would we be able to co-op? Or are there DRM issues with that?
you should be fine.
Its not nice too keep correcting me like that. But someday you'll get your just desserts.
My turn!
It's not Its. :booty:

on topic: The PS Plus price on this game is pretty good. However, the $19.99 standard price, isn't nearly as appealing.

Really? Wow. That makes it tempting just to get a friend to play along.

Off topic, but is there a list of Gameshare compatible games that two players can play co-op simultaneously with? With all of these PSN sales, I think I should share the wealth with some of my buddies since they probably won't buy any of these with their own money.

PS: I think the irony in this thread is lost on some of you.

A list would not be practical because the titles are limited to worthless crap like Warhawk, Final Fight, Socom, GT 5 prologue. (I cant think of any others)

Most titles work that way and me/my co op buddy play a LOT of games together at the same time.

Can anyone confirm that the gameshare works with someone you are playing with (as in your both playing a copy downloaded from your account) I know people said they thought it should be no problem, but someone who knows from experience would be much appreciated

I've been playing online co-op in Hard Corps: Uprising with a friend for a few days now. We both downloaded it from my account. It'll work for most games.

Shh, don't tell them. The replies are priceless.

Hey guys, thanks for all the positive feedback, and the lol-worthy arguing. Hahaha, I've never contributed anything to this forum, even though you guys have saved me tons of money, so I just thought I'd drop this one down since I hadn't seen it here before in hopes of returning the favor.

Let me start off by saying that I am a HUGE FPS noob. I haven't played them all that much because there are other genres that are much more appealing to me and I tend to get very, very severe motion sickness playing them sometimes.

Having said that, I picked this game up during last week's Steam Summer Sale after reading so many good things about it. I'm happy to say that the mix of FPS action, good beginning difficulty, Diablo style loot drops (weapons with modifiers, etc.), and terrific upgradeable skillsets absolutely won me over. I'm even over my motion sickness after getting used to it (which is an extreme miracle in my case).

I'm only level 10 with just a few short hours played so far, but I get the same kind of fun action grind vibe I had when I started off the first few hours of my 100+ hour Torchlight binge last year. The sense of being able to level up, do missions, earn and buy loot, and generally mess around is exhilarating, and I think the developer did a great job of melding two big game elements into one game smoothly (light RPG with FPS).

Core weapon types can have modifiers which makes discovering new weapons a thrill, and gear like grenade mods and shield/health regenerators are also really fun to find and purchase.

I wasn't sure if the post-apocalyptic theme would resonate with me, but I Borderlands style totally grew on me. The textures are intentionally comic book-like, sort of a modern rendition of the XIII style to my eyes. Some seem not to like it, but it gives the game a unique edge and clarity to my eyes.

So, coming from a near-complete FPS newbie I say go for it. If a guy like me can dig it, then I think most anyone can and will.

I just have a quick question about ps+. If my membership expires on the 19th, does that mean the 19th is my last day of ps+ or that I don't have ps+ anymore on the 19th?

I'm pretty sure that it means that the 19th will be your last day. They'll probably give you a heads up and ask you if you want to resubscribe or something like that.
