Ok so my the PowerDVD software that came with my HD-DVD/BR plays these HD discs, BUT ONLY IN 2 CHANNEL STEREO!!!

I have a 7.1 set up.

There is an upgrade for the software but I have to shell out 80 bucks for it. The upgrade makes no mention of continue support of HD-DVD movies and was wondering if I do upgrade the software, will it not let me play HD-DVD movies anymore and just BR only?

thanks

There's only 2 real choices for both BR/HD-DVD playback.

WinDVD9 and Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre

I've used both and Arcsoft is my favorite so far.

BR only which is bullshit.

Anyone know where to get free/cheap HD DVD software? I am thinking of selling my 360 but would still like to keep my HD-DVD add-on and use it on my PC. Thanks in advance!

Wat player do you have? The power dvd that came with my lg supports optical right off the bat. After you do the free update, I believe it add hdmi as well.

I use both version 7 and 8 for different reasons.

Cyberlink Powerdvd 7 which came with my BR/HD burner. Argh if I would have know the software was not going to support HD-DVD in the new update I wouldn't have gotten this player :bomb:
