BRAG: My PS3 pre-orders w/ pics

As this is the Bragging Rights forum I thought I would brag to you guy about my good fortune on the tenth. As you all know that is the day that Gamestop and EB did pre-orders for the PS3.

Like I imagine many of you are going to do, I am going to eBay my PS3 to pay for other things, both gaming related and unrelated. After hearing the news of the 360 launch and the prices they were fetching on eBay I promised myself I wouldn't miss the oppurtunity to cash in on the PS3 and the Wii. So I started saving.

I had originally planned on eBaying PS3s. Then with news othe insane price per unit and the anti-buzz on the net, I thought I would have more luck on the Wii. But all that changed when the Wii broke all production expectations and the PS3 continued to miss production expectations. So I reverted back to my original plan of flipping PS3s.

When news broke on the 9th that it was confirmed that Gamestop and EB would be doing pre-orders the next morning, I rallied the troops. I got some of my old college buddies to camp out with me in front of Gamestop from 8 AM. And then we hit the EB. And then another EB. And our time was well spent. We scored 8 total.

I think I may have had the most luck out of any CAG in securing multiple pre-orders. I am holding 8 pre-order receipts in my hand right now. Crazy huh? Thanks to the trick of pre-paying for them, I'll be saving myself $320 in tax on launch day.

The hardest part of this was saving up the $4000+ to purchase them. Wish me luck.

If you want to bid on one (not that I imagine any of you here at CAG would pay more than retail) check out my auction.

Okay, where do I start. Pre-ordering just to gouge people on eBay is fucked up when that's 8 people that could have PS3s they actually want to play and keep come launch day. Secondly, congrats on spending $800 and not being guaranteed a system on the 17th of November.

Tool.

Newbie today and a hoarder already.

Return to fat wallet where you belong. Hoarding 8 PS3's all for auction is insane. I can't blame people for selling one (hell, I'm considering it), but 8 is a little excessive.

Damn newbie hoarders.

TBW

I hate people like this.

I couldnt afford a PS3 for launch, I probably cant afford one until it drops about $200.

I got one Wii preorder, am going to keep it, and am very happy with it

I think it's rather humorous, especially since the systems are not guarenteed on launch day.

lol, the 20gb version!

What the fuck? Are you kidding me? How did they not bust you guys for multiple pre-orders? I read about some brothers who couldn't even get their pre-orders because they had the same last names.

You are pathetic.

I plan on selling one on eBay, but this is a little overboard. As TheBlueWizard eluded to you might want to rethink posting shit like this. This goes way above bragging, it isn't in the same category because most bragging stories on the boards are how people scored that item they've always wanted and not scoring things for mass profit. Like I said I plan on getting two and selling one to pay both of them off, but you don't join a site to boast. Maybe you have four friends and each are getting two, but still you didn't mention specifics in your OP and you never mention flipping in this context. As you can see members do not like people that post info like this.

No they aren't for my friends. We got some doughnuts and made a fun time of it. They are all for me eBay.

For those of you posting that I won't get one, don't worry about me. We are spots 2, 3, 4, 5 then 1, 4, 7 and then the last spot (16?) at another store. I'm sure at least 6 of them will be there at launch, and the market for these will be huge for months, so it doesn't really matter.

Don't hate, appreciate.
I hope you aren't sad when someone wins your auction and you find out all but one of your preorders were cancelled.
No chance. I'm very friendly with the store we ordered the majority of them at, and when he had the meeting to find duplicate pre-orders, he let our pass. They are all still in the system.

I don't get why you are all having such a problem with this. Really.
Very un-CAG

There is a set of ethics that goes along w/ being a CAG.

I think TBW said it best. Go back to fatwallet please.
What does "go back to fat wallet" mean?
I don't get why you are all having such a problem with this. Really.
Hm, why would someone have a problem with a guy buying 8 PS3s to gouge on Ebay as opposed to 8 people potentially buying PS3s to, you know, play. Burn in hell asswipe.
What does "go back to fat wallet" mean?
Damn, son you are a newbie if you don't understand what this statement ment. All I have to say is that I don't appreciate you doing this shit when there are people that legimately want one to play at retail price and not get fucked on ebay so you have just earned no respect from us fellow CAGs who try to help others get cheap deals this is just wrong sir.

damn hoarders... you should've kept up your lurking ways instead of posting this shit. I think FW has another recruit.

With as anal as EB has been about this, I wouldn't be surprised if the DMs take a look independent of the store managers they trust with nothing and threaten to fire constantly.

alright man,
1)you will have to pay tax when you pick up the system, unless you live in DE or OR ( i think they dont charge tax either). I had to do that for the PSP's.
2)I did a pre-order at one EB and another EB to get one for me and my roommate. They canceled one since they were under the same phone number, yet applied the cash to my other PSP. I hope you get stuck with the money in EB credit, Im not sure they refund preorders after 30 days. Someone please confirm....but I hope you do get stuck with $4K in EB credit.

Long story short, I sold the PSP on Ebay for a $19 dollar loss a month later and got a DS. Never looked back after that.
Wow you've got some nerve to be posting something like this on here.
You took the words right out of my mouth.

Here's the short and kind version: were here at CAG do not, generally, smile upon people who take advantage of cheap games (or, in this case, not so cheap) for the sake of exploiting them for profit. A CAG will not, as a rule, buy up every copy of a game on sale just for the sake of selling them for a profit.

We will resell, and we will buy more than one; this is done, ideally, amongst other CAGs.

We celebrate in cheap games; do not take this to mean that we celebrate in exploiting others, as you clearly plan on doing in just three short weeks.

It's unsavory, it's pathetic (if you have $4000 to drop on profit and you're looking at video games, you ought to be putting it in savings towards stocks, hombre), and, most importantly, it is *severely frowned upon* here at CAG. I'm sure you don't get it, but accept it. We have spent far too long here, and you not at all; thus, you shouldn't be telling us what the norms here are or ought to be. Why? Because we fucking know what they are.

There's the nice version. You're welcome. Sincerely, myke.

And, by the way, could you resize those pics? I know what a fucking receipt looks like, I don't need eight of them stretching my screen. Thanks again, peach.

Well there is a slight problem with that, since now corporate is going through pre-orders (the beauty of networking with the new software). So most likely yours will be cancelled and the credit will be re-distributed, and your friendly manager will get atleast reprimanded, that is of course Corp does not find out about the slide, then he will probably be fired.

This is not going to be an immediate thing, but most likely it will happen, definitely before launch, sorry.

i am very dissappointed that the thread police havent shut this down yet...especially since it deserves to be

oh and ban the OP while you are at it...he seems to be someone who will never contribute to this site

Grats! I am one of those people that couldnt preorder and actually was excited on getting a system on lauch. Shame that i lost faith in Sony because of this and have moved on and wont be purchasing a PS3 until it drops its price. But thanks for actually grabbing one and ruining another person's launch day.

Have a good day

Well put, mykevermin.
Something similar used to be in the FAQ on the old forums, but I never added it here. That being said, I'll fix those pics and close up this thread.
