Brand new thead for minibox games at Half Price Books

CAGiversary!
Hi Guys,

You might know me from my active posting on the Big Lots PC games page. I am a receiving manager at a company that supplies American retailers with discount gaming computer software. I'm kind of a CAG myself, so I teamed up with the rep at our company who sells these retailers. I can now find out which games are heading to which retailers. Half Price Books is an excellent customer. What I like about them is that they stock many copies per title per store. That way, it's much more likely that you'll find what I post. I am in communication with both the rep at our company for what we shipped them, and the buyer's assistant at HPB, so we can find out what they're getting elsewhere and get it posted!

For starters, tommorow or tonight, I will post a list of where the 100 or so Half Price Book stores are. They I'll post the last few shipments that they have received from us. The more chatter they see on this thread, the more time they will have to dedicate to giving us info. I'm even going to push for a coupon exclusive to CAGs.

Talk to you tommorow!
Since you asked... I wanted to know if anyone reading this thread is familiar with how HPB's prices change over time. I've been eyeing a copy of Jade Empire for PC (about 7 on the shelf) for months but it hasn't gone down from $15, which is too much in my CAG-opinion.
Well, in THIS CAG's opinion, that's a steal. ;)

I absolutely love Jade Empire (to this day, I've beaten it 6 times), and I bought both the Xbox 360 version and PC version at full price when they came out.

I'm not sure man. I'm not even interested in it (played Xbox version), but I always look at it to see if they ever do a price drop. Still at like $14.99.

Jade Empire should be $7.99 IMO.

Our rep just closed a juicy deal with the HPB buyer. Check it out:

Europa Universalis Rome

City Life 2008

Mystery in London Jack the Ripper

Oval Office

Score International BAJA

Secret Service the Ultimate Sacrifice

Barbie Horse Adventures

At this point, pricing is unknown, but I'll post when I know. They did take good chunks, so all titles are going to all stores.

It's also important to know that I think they're going to beat Big Lots to the punch on these titles!

Keeping cd roms rollin'

Truth. I found Star Trek Voyager Elite Force for the PC for $1.

Also last week when I was in there they gave me a 2009 calendar (made of recycled paper whee...) but it had coupons for throughout the year for XY% off for random months.

Hi Guys. Another mini load sold to Half Price Books. All minibox. Pricing is still unknown.

Europa Universalis Rome

School Tycoon

Agatha Christie Evil Under the Sun

Agatha Christie Murder on the Orient Express

They bought enough that it should be all titles to all stores.

Gothic Universe would be great for a good price.

Thanks for the update!

If you are unfamiliar with the Gothic games please be very careful. The control scheme is extremely unintuitive. It's not mouse related. You steer your character into objects you want to interact with and then continue to use the WSAD to select them. You pretty much play this game with your left hand and steer the camera with the mouse...on occasion. Good luck.

I just wish PcGirl would start giving this thread some love again, Big Lots! is really out of the way for me compared to HPB.

The Big Lots selection in Chicagoland is such crap, I wonder if PCGirl's company supplies HPB here in lieu of BL.

slidecage translation: Next week is coupon week at HPB.

They send out a coupon sheet like this for those on the mailing list 4 or 5 times a year. You can sign up to get the coupons on their website.

Just came out of a HPB at lunch today. Noticed they just received a batch of King's Bounty PC games. Price was $10. I'm going to check out the demo this weekend and if I like it I'm going back to pick up a copy.
