Bristol Palin to Educate Teens About Abstinence

That's not an Illinois state law because we got to pick our own classes at O'Fallon.
 
when i was in school we had two sex ed session, one in 6th grade and one in 9th grade. the 6th grade one you needed a permission slip, i dont remember the details of the lesson though so im not sure how detailed it was or was not. in 9th grade it was part of school, no permission slips. they showed lots of terrible std pictures ill never forget. lots of talk about multiple methods, condoms and abstinence together. i cant remember how many girls got pregnant during school, but there was a few (a lot for my small class of maybe 150 kids).

now THAT'S a plan.
I remember my sex ed was about the same. Although I think we had to have a permission slip in 9th grade too, because the video we watched showed a clip from live birth.
We also had plenty of pregnancies while I was in HS, even had one girl die due to complications during labor. By the time I graduated, I think there was even one girl who had 2 within her HS term. She was also the one who was pregnant at Freshman Orientation already.

we had a girl that had 2 before she graduated as well. guess she missed that week when we were freshmen.
 
Yeah, we had sex ed in 5th grade--and needed a sleep. In high school (was 9th or 10th grade) it was just done as part of a required Health class and no slips were needed.

And yep, no one really says abstinence shouldn't be a part of sex ed--it of course should be as it is the only 100% foolproof way to prevent pregnancy and STDs.

Just that sex-ed which ONLY consists of abstinence and doesn't talk about condoms, birth control pills and safe sex in general has been shown inadequate. Kids are going to have sex regardless of how much you tell them not to, better that they have all the facts when they make that decision and not rely on myths, porn, and internet info they found on google.
 
so what everyone is saying is Bristol was too stupid to use birth control or Alaska is too backwards to teach it/have condoms available?

Both.

Sarah Palin is a very vocal advocate of abstinence-only education. Which is why Bristol being knocked up was such a hot topic when she became the vice presidential nominee.

Oh sure, though you'd get more than e coli of course. You'll pick up various bacteria just from fucking in general. But most of the bacteria won't hurt you (including most strains of e coli). And of course if you've got your rubber they're not magical, so they won't go through it.

Not to stand up for her, even as a Conservative she is an annoyance and a trainwreck.
But the end of that article does make it sound like she's referring to her childhood, not as an adult. Sarah Palin did not make the decision to receive Canadian coverage, but her parents did.

Which answers the question that popped into my mind when I started reading the article, "Why the heck would you admit that if you are so outspoken against it?!"
Makes more sense now.
