"Bubba Ho-tep" director Don Coscarelli showed up on local Dallas radio this weekend to talk about the Bruce Campbell-led sequel and Cinema Blend has the details:

"According to Don the script for the film, which he calls Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She Vampire is underway and being written this time by Joe Landsdale instead of Coscarelli. Landsdale is the original author of the short story on which Bubba Ho-tep is based, so it looks like this time they're going straight to the source.

With Landsdale busy on other scripting projects, Coscarelli expects the Bubba 2 script completed by Halloween 2005 at the earliest, so there's no chance we'll see it in theaters before some time later in 2006, assuming they get funding."

in the last movie anyway. I wonder what other impressions Bruce Campbell does?

Well they DID mention a sequel after the credits of Bubba-Ho-Tepp so I would be glad to see a movie that promises a sequel in the movie actaully get that sequel. But...

didn't bruce's character die in the first one?

*spoilers*

Would it be a prequel or wold they use some excuse to bring him back?

bruce was still alive at the end, at least he was still breathing and all is well, so it's coo, a sequel would be the bomb. Did any of you go see it in the theater when bruce was doing q + a with the crowd after?

I did. Don, Joe, and Bruce were all in my town, Nacogdoches (which is featured in the movie!) at a film festival last year and we got to see the East Texas premiere. Bruce did his little comedic stand up Q&A session afterwards and there was a meet and greet with all three of them.

Beside that, Joe Lansdale actually lives here, so I see him around town every now and then. I ran into him at Hastings a few weeks ago and he ended up having a little chat with me and a bunch of other students.

Also, rumor has it that he is going to teach a script-writing class or something on campus here next fall.

More than likely it'll be a prequel. At the end of the credits it says "Elvis returns in Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires starring Sebastian Haff". Haff of course was the one who switched places with Elvis in the movie so it'd be him playing Elvis..or something...

Bubba Hotep was an entertaining movie. It didn't quite live up to all the hype, but it was stupid fun in the end. As for the sequel: when Bruce Campbell gets work, it's all good.
