Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chosen Collection $169.99 at Costco
Great deal. I paid roughly this amount for mine. Isn't this still OOP also?
Yeah I believe it is out of print, which is another reason I posted it. But every time I find it I never have the money for it, then when I want it, I can't find it, haha.

Tempting... but when will I ever have the time to watch any of them? I guess it would be good for my kids one day so they can watch the greatest TV show ever in order from start to finish...

I've been looking to pick Buffy up recently. How is this a better deal than the slim sets at $20 each? My math says that the series comes to $140, this is $170.

What is different about this set that makes it worth an extra $30?

I think this?

 • Back to the Hellmouth: A Conversation with Creators and Cast
 • Breaking Barriers: It's Not a Chick Fight Thing
 • Love Bites: Relationships in the Buffyverse
 • Evil Fiends
 • Buffy: An Unlikely Role Model
 • Buffy Cast and Crew: Favorite Episodes

Plus the damn cool box.

I picked this up from Barnes and Noble.com a couple months ago. After 1 or 2 coupons i think it was about $80 or so shipped. Then i went and sold my big box seasons on eBay for $120. =]

Their price was about $120 normally - now its $180.....but theres regularly 20%-25% coupons around plus getting either 10% if you have a member card or 5% by clicking thru aaa.com/barnesandnoble. Should bring it down to about $120.

I preordered this through Amazon for, what, $129.99? Something like that. Kind of shocking to see a series box set actually appreciate in value in that short a period of time. Maybe I shouldn't open it just yet after all.

(Waits for cries of "Sacrilege!!" and shouts of indignation.)

Whedon is the new Lucas. Until this set is rereleased on either BD or HD-DVD it is only going to up and up and up.

I got this for like 80 bucks through buy.com around December....
Paying 170 bucks would be insane.....

130 episodes for $170 is crazy?

Yeah, I picked this up....somewhere (can't remember), last year for $120 or so.

Such a great set. The wife and watched every episode together (she was actually the one that got me started on Buffy) and had a great time.

Highly recommended.

Now where's our Angel set!?!

I also would like to know about the Angel set. The UK got it but we didn't. I keep putting off picking up the single seasons in hopes it will be eventually released but it's getting harder.

I wouldn't hold your breath. I would have hoped we would have seen it by now. I decided to finally open S1 of Angel that I have had on my shelf for over a year.

The only reason why I say this isn't worth it is because all the R1 releases are 4:3 full frame, including 4:3 letterboxed versions of Once More With Feeling and Hush.

The UK R2 versions of seasons 4-7 are 16:9 widescreen; I ended up selling my 4-7 R1s and bought the R2s just for this. Granted this wasn't how they were originally broadcast, but were framed this way for future HD broadcast.

So, the individual releases are the way to go.

Except Joss himself has said he really doesn't like it being shown in widescreen as it wasn't meant to be in the first place, and says that the R1 set is the one to get. I think I'll stick with the full screen.

Highly recommended. My favorite TV series of all time.

I also bought it, like another poster, for around $130~ a while back; really interesting to see it go up in price. Still a steal at $170. You could just buy the slim sets for $18 each if you're so inclined, which totals a little bit less. There is only one extra disc in the Chosen Collection, and I'm sure you can find the bulk of that on youtube or something. The slim set discs, regular box set discs, and the Chosen Collection discs are all exactly the same; I should know as I have all three.

And as for widescreen: Joss Whedon (creator) has stated several times that the series was meant to be viewed in full screen. I could fish for some side by side caps from "The Body" that perfectly illustrate this point, but I'm tired.

Airs on FX in the mornings if you wanna give it a throw before you purchase. Don't shy away from it just because of the goofy title or supposed goofy premise. >_> _

It's out already. The first issue came out about a month ago and the second on on Weds. It's actually pretty good.
