Have you guys heard about these dudes who put a little movie type thing together where they paid a couple bums to Jackass-style stunts? It seems pretty crazy, but now they are selling a DVD full of stuff they got the bums to do and their fights.

I'm tempted to check this out. It sounds kinda funny.

Also, there's another DVD out called Barfighter where a bunch of going-nowhere actors in Hollywood decided to make their own movie. Basically they have this girl who flirts with some guys, and then the another actor comes up and acts like he's her boyfriend. Then, he challenges the other guy to a fight.
What's so funny is the dude is always getting his ass handed to him. It shows some pretty funny clips of him bleeding on the ground. I'm not saying this is right, but it is kinda funny to see a guy pick a fight with some dude, only to get the hell beat outta him.

Bumfights is disgusting and just left me feeling dirty for watching it. I'll watch some sick stuff for entertainment, but this was crossing a line for me. Not everyone on there is a willing participant. It's sad that some people will exploit other's addiction for cheap entertainment. If you really feel like you have to see it, download it so these wastes of space don't make any more money.

After repeaded e-mails asking for a refund, they started ignoring me.

I was thinking about finding the people that made this video, and videotaping me kicking their collective asses.

The only thing I don't think you're considering is that a vast majority of homeless people are mentally ill. They aren't normal people who are lazy or just had bad luck and happen to live on the street. Many can't be counted on to make decisions for themselves. While I admit that I would probably laugh if watching it, it's definately wrong.

Some people take offense to what Howard Stern does, which is sometimes bring homeless people into the studio and goof on them, ask them questions they can't answer. Even that I guess is borderline but it does make me laugh. But at least they're in a wam place and do get paid some money, even though they humiliate themselves somewhat. But violence is another story altogether.

I'm sorry but they are taking care of mentally unstable people. Whether it be drug or alcohol addiction or some form of mental psychosis many homeless are not in the right state of mine. I have worked in plenty of soup kitchens to know about plus in a psychiatric hospital. I have seen these people and dealt with it. These people cant make coherent decisions. Its like blaming the a kid getting lured into a petophile's van because they were goin to be given candy. Just because they are paid does not mean they are not the victim.

And if you really are sick enough to enjoy that type of thing then at least Download the movies from P2P and don't send a dime to the people who made it.

Your analogy of children to an adult, who cannot consent to anything because they are minors is without merit.

Touching that you have worked in soup kitchens. Then you should be aware these people have virtually nothing to offer the world.

So why begrudge them one thing they have?

I can see what your saying here, but first off I dont think the numbers of abused or substance abuse using pornstars is anywhere near the number of homeless that are addicted to drugs or alcohol or have some form of mental psychosis. Plus there is a lil difference between being sexually abused and being psychotic. Some abused women can live normally others need help, with homeless psychosis is psychosis. There is no wonder drug and the drugs that are available are hella expensive. PLus the amount of money the female pornstars make is rediculous, they are probably richer than most of the people here's parents. You might call me a hypocrit but this is my opinion

As much as I see your point, there are some subtle differences. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a bum who aspires to be put in a fight like this, but some women who have appeared in porn did aspire to do it. And, when I say this, I'm thinking specifically of Jenny McCarthy and Jenna Jameson, who both said in separate E! True Hollywood Stories that it was something they aspired to.
Although I think I'd argue as strongly against porn as I would against bum fighting.

Yes, some women do enjoy the work. That's why my original post said "many".

However, if you are willing to say that Bumfights is a bad thing, you should be equally ready to condemn much (again, much, not all) of the porn on the market. How to tell which would be ok and which would not by the standard set forth above...I'll leave that to someone else.
 
bumfights is about 2 years old and I bought it the first week it was out..still have it here and either you hate it or you love it

I thought the dvd was great and so what some bum ass drunks are taken advantage of. They are drunks not mental retards. Sorry but most bums get beat up all the time by each other. I see bums constantly all fucked up from fights and they arent getting paid like Rufus did.

You can tell from Bumfights how messed up some of these guys are. With most porn, you can't. If you can give some titles from your collection with mentally ill people in them, I will tell you that those tapes are just as bad as bumfights.

What makes me more important? I pay taxes. I am what society considers an asset.

What should disturb you is your ability to determine what is right or wrong for everyone. And you want it both ways. You believe these people are incapable of making an informed decision, yet you view them as valuable.

I don't see where you're getting the child/parent analogy. I believe it was said that some people who are homeless have mental psychoses, substance dependencies, or a combination of both, and that these are the people being taken advantage of. And it's not a matter of consent as much as it's a matter of being taken advantage of.

You make unfounded accusations once again. From your statements, you seem to be dehumanizing these people, which is something I cannot understand. They are human beings, and should be treated as such. Sociological research has shown that people with attitudes like this are what force the homeless to remain homeless and, in many cases, start and continue abusing substances. The social stigma does wonders in destroying a homeless person's hope and ambitions. And just because they are homeless does not mean that they hold no ambitions.

What I don't understand is why homeless people decide to be homeless in crappy places like Great Falls, Mt. There were quite a few bums up there when it was close to 0 degrees.

If I'm going to be homeless, I'm going to be homeless in a kick ass place like California or Florida.

I can't even respond to this because I can't take it seriously.

I wonder how many of you have to deal with the homeless on the subway every day. They reek if you were wondering as you look down on them from your noble ivory towers.

Have you seen Bumfights at all?!? I'm a gambling man and I think it's safe to wager that Rufus and some of his friends are mentally incompetent. I read an article in Spin a few years back on them after the vidoe was made and the story isn't pretty. They were exploited plain and simple. My point is that most of the people I saw in Bumfights lacked the mental capacity to give consent due either to drugs or mental illness.

And I conceded the fact to you that if there was any porn out there using people that are incapable of giving consent, then it is wrong too. But you seem to want to say that it's all wrong. If that's your choice, don't watch it.

for anyone that said "they got paid"...they gave them A DOLLAR...and they only gave the dollar to the person who won...o yeah and now the bums are millionares because they sued the people who made bumfights...so I guess they came out ontop but this still is against human rights and moral code...anyone who thinks its cool or funny is a sick mother fucker that should be beatin for a dollar to see how it feels
