The Sea and 18whatever game got me to order it.

This, newest Humble Indie Bundle, and Indie Royale, all in one fell swoop. And yet I just keep playing Binding of Isaac from last December.
Man, I want The Shivah. I didn't realize Wadgeteye made it. They made Blackwell, Puzzle Bots, Gemini Rue, Emerald City Confidential...
Yeah. It's the one game I'm really interested in but don't have. They have a great looking game coming this summer. I wouldn't mind it launching in a bundle. Hell, I wouldn't mind it launching as a Wadjet Eye bundle as I don't have The Shivah, Puzzle Bots, or Emerald City Confidential.

Ben There, Dan That! and Time Gentlemen, Please! (For the longest time I thought this was a single game with an astoundingly confusing name) are like the easy chicks of indie bundles.

I threw $5 at them even though I clicked because it was at $1. I'm not sure why. The Shivah seems interesting.
The Metal Dead booklet has opened up. Only about 350 more to open up The Shivah soundtrack.
Yeah, I just beat the average for Metal Dead and the booklet. Booklet isn't bad, just a 16 page PDF with some art, info, but not as bad a bonus as I thought it might be.

Bought this bundle at the last minuted for 1893, The Sea Will Claim Everything, and the Shivah. I emailed Wadgeteye games to ask if The Shivah was coming to Steam, and they said no, that Steam rejected it.

I'm too much a fan of Wadgeteye to not buy The Shivah.

Bundle is over now.

He also said a while back that Steam rejected Gemini Rue, but I guess they changed their minds eventually. I don't know if it was coincidence or what but Gemini Rue got released on Steam on the same day it made it into it's first bundle (Indie Royale) so maybe The Shivah being in a more high profile bundle would help. Anyway, it's not impossible that it might make it to Steam but doesn't look to be in the cards right now.

As for Bundle in a Box itself, they tried and they meant well. Bundle in a Box actually is doing an Indie Dev grant of $2,000 to an indie developer and they are doing a poll to let people choose which project should get the grant. They were going to only do it if they made 15,000 bundle sales but when it became apparent they weren't going to get anywhere near that they decide to do the grant anyway, which was nice.

Voting is still up until June 13th if anyone wants to check it out and you don't have to have bought the bundle to vote:

I just hope next time around they can get more Steam redeemable games that have not been in other bundles before. Also, while I like adventure games myself, they are kind of niche-y so a mix of genres would probably go over better.

I"m having trouble downloading 1893. Anyone else? When I did get it to download, it just downloaded a file named install1893...but the file isn't anything. Not an executable. Nothing.

His latest game was accepted on the first submission. He said it was the first time for that. The Shivah is one of his older games. I wonder if just the fact that he has a better working relation ship with Steam might help with another submission of it. The Blackwell series is old as well but only came to Steam recently. Just having a lot of games on the service might help if he gives it another go.

Over on NeoGAF there is a poster (chubigans) who made a game (The Oil Blue) which found it's way into one of the Indie Royale bundles. That game wasn't on steam (and still isn't) but he said that the Indie Royale people had swung a deal with Steam for the first few bundles. The deal would allow any game featured in the bundle to be sold on steam if the developer submitted it to them for approval. Which meant that even games that had been denied in the past would get green-lighted if they were in the bundle.

chubigans didn't re-submit his game to steam because, due to other commitments, he didn't have the time. So he lost his shot to get the Oil Blue on Steam. Gemini Rue almost certainly took advantage of the automatic green-lighting offer that steam made though.

Ah I see. Thanks for that info. That's really interesting. We don't get a lot info behind the scenes on why game X gets denied or approved or denied then approved so that makes a certain sort of sense.

I do wish more indie devs were able to take advantage of that, but it does seem like being in bundles gives some more leverage into getting on Steam, or at least it did before bundles kind of became a dime a dozen.

What size was the file when it finished downloading? Mine was 66.4 MBs. This will probably not work but try renaming the file to install1893.exe and then running it.
Will this be an ongoing thing? Like this was the adventure bundle box and next will be another themed bundle box?
Presumably. They have a field on the now closed Bundle In a Box page to be notified of future updates.

Also Twitter posts seem to indicate so.

There's always next time! :)

A few ideas, yes, and some games, but not much else yet. Don't really believe in rushing bundles :)

Doesn't sound like they are in a big hurry though.

That's good to hear. I like that they are taking thier time as there is an abundance of bundles right now. I like the idea of themed bundles.

Oh gawd, I guess we'll see their next bundle in 6 months!

I'm guessing that your browser blocked you from downloading an exe file, for security reasons. Mine threw a fit and I had to "allow" it in order to download it.

Yeah, I ended up doing that, and it worked. Looking forward to 1893, The Shivah, and The Sea Will Claim Everything!
