Burgaler Caught By Playstation..

Back in March, Sandy Wilson was taking care of her three grandsons when a group of men attempted to burglarize her home, pointing a gun at the kids.

The children happened to be playing a video game called Grand Theft Auto at the time. The game has dozens of random police scanner messages, which blare out calls such as "This is the police! You’re surrounded!" Believe it or not, Wilson says the burglars heard that message and thought police were outside the door waiting for them.

Galveston County Asst DA Michael Elliott explained, "The police in the game were staying, 'Stop, we have you surrounded. This is the police.’ The burglar, unknowingly, thought this was the actual police and panicked ... being apprehended by Playstation."

Good of grandma to let little kids play GTA..

All I have to say is that family must have some sound system to make the burgalers believe that was real....
 Great story...What's sad is that there were four(!) burglars and they were all stupid.

Finally some GOOD press for GTA. When some moron claims GTA told him to steal cars or what not it's all over the news, but when GTA stops some crooks it's hardly publicized at all

One thing I'd always suspected but had confirmed for me many times over while doing IT work at a police station was this: The average criminal is an idiot. It's not just bad decisions in life. It's the utter inability to make any competent decisions. After a while I came to wonder how these people managed to survived to an age where they could take up crime.

Agreed. But that's the same with everything. Only the negative stuff gets attention. But it is good to finally see some good press for GTA. I'm really getting sick of the whole "games are too violent, take GTA for example..." argument.
4 idiots. You really shouldnt be a burgler if you are that shaq-fuin stupid
Being a criminal = being stupid.
I'm surprised how many grammatical errors there are in the article. Regardless though, HA! Dumbass burglars deserve worst than that.
You know what is funny? You find the grammatical mistakes in the article, but can't find the spelling mistake in the topic name....
i wonder what other games have the potential 2 caputure criminals..
Maybe while playing Mario 64 when he says "It's me, Mario." Then the criminals run in fear screaming, "Nooooooo, not Mario!"

with the kids response i hope it wasnt a mature teen....

"Thinking that it was pretty funny," recalled young victim Chaze Fisher. "How they were, like, ran off, and they got all scared over a game."

 I love stupid people. they're so entertaining

yeah good for grandma to let the young-uns play GTA... it's such a moral building educational game.
