BUSH: HOLDING THREE JOBS 'UNIQUELY AMERICAN'
Tues Feb 8 2005 9:27:01 ET

Last Friday when promoting social security reform with 'regular' citizens in Omaha, Nebraska, President Bush walked into an awkward unscripted moment in which he stated that carrying three jobs at a time is 'uniquely American.'

While talking with audience participants, the president met Mary Mornin, a woman in her late fifties who told the president she was a divorced mother of three, including a 'mentally challenged' son.

The President comforted Mornin on the security of social security stating that 'the promises made will be kept by the government.'

But without prompting Mornin began to elaborate on her life circumstances.

Begin transcript:

MS. MORNIN: That's good, because I work three jobs and I feel like I contribute.

THE PRESIDENT: You work three jobs?

MS. MORNIN: Three jobs, yes.

THE PRESIDENT: Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that. (Applause.) Get any sleep? (Laughter.)

And that's a good thing? Isn't that basically like saying "No other nation on earth has people that need to work three jobs?" Am I missing something here?

What a terd.
Yeah because he's really experienced working 3 jobs himself...
"It's hard work"

i hate that dickhead, i mean honestly it could be worse we could be working for 25 cents an hour or something. But it sucks for me i'm looking to buy my first house, and even the crappiest house is too much for me to afford, so i have to get a part time job on the weekends to help out. Pretty sad considering i have a BA from college and have a real job but i'm still forced into this position.

"Uniquely American?" How is that "fantastic"? How can she raise her kids properly? What, does he think she's making lots of money working her 3 jobs? Extra spending cash? She's probably just surviving. fuck you, Bush.

Wait...

Bush never had three jobs, the only jobs he had his daddy gave to him, so does that mean he's not American?

If so he can't be president and I will be so happy.

And Bush still needs to be shot at within the next four years, otherwise the thingie is screwed up.
I doubt that story is true, I do not trust anything coming from some 3rd party bogus website.
Oh its true, I saw the video footage of it the other day. To America: I'm really sorry for voting for him twice. I don't know how to make up for this. I am kind of happy that JFK II didn't get elected though.

It's true. Heard it with my own two ears. Even a staunch Republican like yourself should just admit the reality that Bush says some pretty dumb things sometimes (or quite a bit of the time, actually).
Find it funny that all of those pics are from the same golf trip.
Same golf trip? How many changes of clothing does he take along with him to play golf?
Where did I even post that? Also can you read my mind! lol.
Of course I can read your mind. Well, ok, I can't, but my cat can. Just look into her glowing green eyes and feel her power boring into your brain. You're getting sleepy, oh so sleepy...

Perhaps it IS uniquely american that people have the will and fortitute to work 3 jobs to pay the bills, keep their dignity instead of be on the dole, choose not to rest on our laurels after an 8 hour day, legislate a 30 hour work week and mandatory 3 month vacation, stop work at 12:00 for siesta, expect a 'living' wage for flipping burgers. Perhaps it IS uniquely american that we desire to help ourselves instead of demanding that other people give us something for nothing.

I guess it's also NOT uniquely american to propagate the politics of envy.

Oh boy. Here we go with the spin...

You don't have kids do you? That poor woman will basically be broke in the end and have to rely on the current social security system to support her in later years. That's the irony in it.

If you honestly believe that, then i feel sorry for you.

Well, I voted Bush twice, and I don't feel bad about it (I think both times, he was better than any of the alternatives that could win (I still feel more comfortable with him than John Kerry. Here in Michigan, we have Jennifer Granholm, a Democrate, who snuck through legislation to make us pay 4 years of property taxes in 3.5 years, and it isn't a tax hike, claims her). At least I felt I knew what I was getting with Bush.

Yes, he says stupid things on the fly occasionally. It looks worse since we just had Clinton in office, and there has probably never been a President faster on his feet than him.

That being said, I don't understand why everyone is so against Social Security reform in the market. The stock market is where real gains can be made. I'm 26, and there is nothing I want more than the ability to invest my social security in the market. Give me a chance at an average 10% return over returns that won't even beat inflation with the current system.

Yes, I expect flipping burgers full-time to pay a living wage. What full-time job should not pay a living wage? I guess in your eyes I am a commie because I believe if more jobs paid a decent salary, social programs wouldn't be as necessary and costly.

There is a whole other topic for this, but briefly:

There is much more to SS reform than the private accounts thing. I think they're fine. The bad part is keeping the tax the same (high) while drastically cutting benefits. Doesn't Bush mention that part in his speeches?

Plan a 40 year phase-out of the social security plan and end it. It needs to be done. Return the money back into the hands of tax payers from the looting government. Private accounts do not have the account bearer in mind as the primary interest. Stop allowing the government to hold your money. Petition to abolish the income tax, property tax, and other taxes that force the hand of socialism into your wallet.

A relative newcomer to the political fold, neopolss apparently doesn't know the depth of the waters in which he swims. Nor does he realize the school of hungry sharks waiting for him at a distance. Many have sailed the blood waters of freedom, only a few have returned. Sharks swimming sinuous circles in seemingly shallow squalls may yet yield a yeoman's yank or a fresh filtch of fish for friday's feast. Turn not thy back to the compass brave Neo !

Only for sake that my old political forum has closed and I see that my second favorite message board contains a political arena. Speak whatever you wish, I will gladly hold ground.

Are you sure he landed on his feet? Kinda hard to tell when the person you speak of is a total ass.
