President George W Bush tried to make a quick exit from a news conference in Beijing on Sunday - only to find himself thwarted by locked doors.

After answering just six questions from a group of US reporters, the president strode away heading towards the door.

President Bush tugged at both handles on the double doors before admitting: "I was trying to escape. Obviously, it didn't work."

'Jet lag'

The president had called the news session with US reporters at his hotel.

His earlier meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao did not permit media questions.

Mr Bush answered a range of questions before one reporter said: "Respectfully, sir - you know we're always respectful - in your statement this morning with President Hu, you seemed a little off your game, you seemed to hurry through your statement. There was a lack of enthusiasm. Was something bothering you?"

The president answered: "Have you ever heard of jet lag? Well, good. That answers your question."

The reporter asked for a follow-up question but the president then thanked the attending journalists and said "No you may not" as he walked away.

He strode from the lectern to the door, trying both handles and then breaking into a laugh. An aide escorted him to the correct exit and on to dinner at the Great Hall of the People.

The video is hilarious: http://news.bbc.co.uk/nolavconsole/ifs_news/hi/nb_rm_fs.stm?checkedBandwidth=nb&nbram=1&subtitles=hide&checkedMedia=ram&news=1&bbwm=1&nbwm=1&bbram=1&nol_storyid=4455316

He gets to the door but can't open it. So he turns, faces the reporters and then, with his arms at his side, just stares off blankly waiting for someone to tell him what to do.

You've never pulled on a locked door?

But the obvious answer to your question, because more people/states voted for him than didn't.

Though some would disagree with that.

Not in the middle of a recorded news conference.

Sure the door part is funny, but his facial expressions and his confusion is what made it newsworthy. When he realizes its locked he just stands there waiting for someone to tell him what to do.

Then there's the part where he doesn't like the questioning so he tries to leave, only to end up making a bigger fool out of himself than the reporter he's was trying to evade would have.

I like it how many of the known "right wing" bias news programs try slamming everybody who gets a laugh out of this, I heard one "journalist" saying the event was clearly taped to make the president "look stupid", how about the president did it too himself and "looked more stupid"?, it is seriously sad that we have such a dumbass representing us, or I should say representing under 40% of us anyways...
