Buy non-slim 250 gb hard drive or Buy Xbox Slim?

CAGiversary!
I'm not sure if this is the right place to discuss, but help will be appreciated.

I'm thinking of buying a new hard drive for space. I only have 20 gb and I'm barely struggling, so yeah, I need more space. That said I have a Xbox 360 Arcade System (old model with HDMI). However, maybe it would be "smart" to buy a new Xbox Slim with 250 gb. I mean in the long run, it has wifi, new design, Kinect ready (yes I have a Kinect), and of course, a new hard drive design. So, should I buy a hard drive for old Xbox, which I found it for less, or just get a new slim one?

^That.
The slim is so much cooler and more quiet (my launch 360 sounds like it's trying to take off when it reads a disc. )
It would be safer in the long run, since there's a slight chance that your old one could red ring, even though it is a newer HDMI model.
If you can find the hard drive for the original for cheap though, and money is tight, that would be the more economical choice (obviously).
