I just got home for work, and decided to check this thread out to see any responses... I was livid to find out that it was working for other people well after my attempt failed.
last night I had put all 3 items in my cart and continued to shop and tried to check out around 2am. I entered the code and it said it could not be applied to the items and or the promotion was over. I continued to the final check out screen, and the discount still had not been taken off. I called customer service and I was told that the deal was over, and that there was absolutely nothing that could be done about it. I vented my frustration (nicely, not his fault of course) and he offered me a $10 voucher, so I just said screw it, and bought the ps3 by itself for $389.
I read this thread after I had come back from shopping, and posted my dejected attempt. After reading that people were still getting the deal 9 hours after I was told it was dead, I called amazons CS. I explained my situation to the new CS Rep, and she said there was no record of my call last night, and since I had made my purchase and it shipped today, that there was nothing that could be done except return my order and try again on monday. I cried foul, because the CS Rep last night had looked in my cart and said he noted that I had all 3 necessary items. I told her about the $10 voucher added to my account, and read the response from the written complete I had sent after I had gotten off of the phone.
I was put on hold for a few minutes so she could talk to the marketing dept. Finally, she came back and told me that she would offer me a refund if I were to purchase the game and a/v cables. Sucks because I have to order it with my debit card (which there isn't a wealth of money in it) but after spending an almost combined hour on the phone with customer service in the early morning hours, the deal finally worked...
god that whole ordeal was a pain in the ass, but at least now I have what I wanted, and should've gotten in the first go-round.
Thanks again to everyone who posted after me, I thought this thread was going to get deleted. If it weren't for your posts saying the deal was still working, I wouldn't be getting Resistance 2 for free. Thank you.
