So I just sold a game on Amazon marketplace and had it shipped yesterday morning.

Anyways this morning I was checking my emails and saw that I had a message from the person who bought the game on Amazon. She told me that she had recently moved to a different address than the one provided and that "hopefully I hadn't already shipped the game already".

Of course I had already shipped the game:roll:. So I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to have the game re-routed.

It's not my fault this idiot gave me an old address. It's her negligence that I'm in this situation in the first place.

Am I going to get screwed out of money for the game, even though it was entirely her fault?

This happened to me. Luckily whoever received it did not accept it and it was returned to me. The guy wanted me to reship it to his new address, but didn't want to pay for shipping again. After a few e-mails back and forth, I just refunded his money... of course I got negative feedback saying that I was a horrible seller and I did not respond to e-mail.

Sometimes the item will automatically be forwarded to the new address. I hate when this happens. You try to be a good seller by shipping the item out right away and then they tell you the address is wrong. It has happened to me a few times.

Not sure how you got paid on this transaction but if you're using paypal then you're fine. Paypal seller protection requires that you always ship to the address provided by them. If the buyer emails you and tells you to ship to another address then it might be a fraudster trying to intercept the package.

As far as rerouting the package, you can always contact the shipper. Depending on how you had it shipped and how far it is to it's destination, they can try to add the new address. Hope some of this helps.

If you have the tracking number, call the USPS number and they can usually have to returned to you (I wouldn't risk having it forwarded to the new address though). The bad part about this is that you lose out on the shipping...

Thanks for all the advice.

I advised the person to go to the post office and make sure all there mail was being forwarded to their new address, so hopefully it gets to the right destination.

It was amazon marketplace which despises paypal.

I'm actually going through the same thing right now. I got a package back that has "Refused" written on it. I emailed the buyer telling him to either send me shipping money & a new address, or let me know if I should refund the purchase price minus shipping. It's been 4 days now, and heard nothing...

Welcome to the Amazon marketplace. You will get every variety of a'hole.

A few weeks back, I had a woman literally write "Return to sender" on the package, and a week later (before the package even got back to us), say she "accidentally" refused shipment and wanted it reshipped and then filed an a-to-z, saying she never got it. This was all before the package that she refused even got back to us, when we could actually do something about the situation. I ended up reshipping it, but despite her admitting in emails she refused the package, and tracking info showing the item was eventually redelivered, Amazon still refunded her, on their dime, luckily. What's bullshit is my $18 for this transaction is still being held as "reserve" despite this case being closed. It's chump change, but it's the principle.

As to the OP's issue, not a month goes by where we don't get a bad address and a package returned to us as non-deliverable. But we do ~$2000 a week in sales (after amazon fees), so it's not surprising or upsetting anymore. It's part of the business.

I just checked and it says that the package was delivered. At this point the buyer hasn't contacted me so hopefully they actually received it.

I'm dealing with the same thing right now on ebay. Guy about 1 hour away wrote wanting to know how come his package is taking so long - he could've walked their by now (or something along those lines). Turns out wrong / old address....

Now it's been over another week and the package is sitting somewhere in limbo. It has apparently passed around in a circle at the same post office for over a week.

I'm assuming I will have to call USPS about it if it doesn't stop getting scanned at the same location again and again.

I'm sure when I get it back (if I get it back) the seller will want me to send it again on my dime or get angry when I say I won't. Can't wait.

Well I hope everything works out for you.

I know for me this ordeal has been a pain in the ass. I had to take time out of my day to correct an issue that wasn't even remotely my fault, first of all by calling USPS to make sure that I was following the right procedures to make sure that the package would indeed make it to their new address, and secondly contacting the buyer to keep them up to speed on the issue.

agreed

You know, it could've been an honest mistake. Honestly, I'm in the position of the buyer right now. I bought something recently off of ebay (which I don't use very often) and had completely forgotten that I moved several states away and had not updated my address. When I paid through paypal it gave my old address as well. By the time I noticed the seller had already sent it off. I'm forwarding my mail currently so it should still arrive at my new house but still.

I know there's a lot of people who use it for scamming purposes, but that doesn't warrant all the negative comments.

In any case, I hope they have their mail forwarded to their new address. That way you won't have to do anything more. Hope it goes well for you OP
