Buying a Car, but when?

You're coming up on the best time to buy a new car right now. Dealers are trying to get rid of all their 2006 models for 2 reasons. 1)The 2007 models are on their way soon and 2)They have to pay taxes on unsold 2006 models.

yeah, now's a good time for Hondas since they are having their '06 clearance. you should be able to get better deals like 2.9% financing.

The best time to buy a car in general is towards the last day of each month. That is when car dealerships are trying to meet quotas.

The absolute best day to buy a car is Dec. 31, because they are trying to meet their yearly quotas. You can get some great deals then.

as stated by everyone now is one of the best times to buy a vehicle. You could usually fight for whatever you want to pay/finance it for. Just browse around for the best deals.

(sidenote): Ridgelines make baby jesus cry.

Make sure you use www.carsdirect.com and check the price of the Ridgeline. The site quoted me $5000 below the MSRP ($23XXX for base model, $1000 below the invoice). Print the price quote you get from carsdirect and bring it to the dealer, but don't have them price match right away. Haggle w/ the sales to see how low he can get first, you never know, sometimes they can go lower than the carsdirect price without you even mentioning about the site. If they're willing to haggle lower and lower, but not lower than the carsdirect price, take out the paper and have them pricematch it. If they won't do it, simply stand up and walk, most of the time they'll convince you to sit down and deal again.

Do Honda's even go on sale?

Thanks for the CarsDirect Link. Never heard of that site before. I still can't afford my dream car though, Toyota Tacoma. Well, after the options :(

you can get a late model honda for a good deal! no need for a new one, if you find the right one you can't even tell it was used!

My dad bought a Tacoma about 2 weeks after the new model came out and it was nearly loaded out and he still only payed 25k and that was when they wouldn't haggle with you for a dime since it was a new model. Isn't the ridgeline in the same price range or possibly even more?

Cars direct tags $100-200 onto the price. Thats how much they get of each deal. And how do they get so much off the msrp? There system automatically emails the fleet department. The fleet department is the internet sales and there goal is to move units more so than make a profit. Most fleet departments are in the dealership tucked away so customers walking in cannot see it. So car diresct tags on 200 and the fleet will tag on another 200 or 100. SO in turn you are paying for a service that you dont need.

Go into your local honda and ask for the fleet department. Cut out the midle man which would be cars direct. The place i worked, quit 2 days ago!, the fleet guys would show the customer the price at cost, and then they would say we will go 200 over that... and the people can take it or leave it... they usually take it...

Though i worked for a luxury line where the cars are more exspenive to begin with, where as honda sales men are a little more slimy and are out to screw you over more so. Good luck sir.

two invaluable websites....

www.carbuyingtips.com
and
www.fightingchance.com

the first is a good read, follow everything they tell you (esp the financing, use eloan). when you are ready to buy, get the package from the 2nd site, its $30 but it got me an extra $500 in an unpublished toyota loyalty rebate. Plus its really good info when you go to haggle.

I got my '04 toyota sequoia at about 1000 below invoice and fully loaded. dont bother with a car buying service, they just add their own fees, noone wants to save money more than yourself. You are your best advocate.

Stop and listen to me. I work at a honda dealership and have also purchased a car from that dealership. Brand new honda civic. That end of the month stuff is bull shit if a dealership has made there quota. There not willing to get you out of there with a car any cheaper then usual. You want a ridgeline so go by your dealership and look around. If they have any 07's your in luck with the 06's. The 07 ridgelines have just started to come in. If you are a patient man you may be able to wait til they only have one or two 06's left and then they will really deal. Its a big deal to get all the past years models out when theres only a few. Also, never buy a car and take it home right away. Give the porters a few days to get to your car. Also, always say that you are very picky and want a spotless car. The dealership will make sure your car is perfect and if it isn't will bring in paint or something else to take care of any problems on the car. Ridges are awsome btw.
