Buying a ps3

Just want an opinion, i m gonna buy a ps3, i knew there was a new sku xoming out shortly. Suposed to be less power hungry, a little lighter , but also sony is eliminating bd hd playback through component cables. Suposivly just for blue ray movies. Should i try to snag an older sku up while i can???
 
imo, snag one now if there are still gift cards or wait till the holiday season(if you can) when it looks there will be a price drop.
