Buying a scale on eBay for weighing my games?

Well, I think it's time for me to start using PayPal to print my labels and ship out my games. Apparently DC is only .18 instead of .60, so that helps too.

Can anyone recommend one of those postal scales on eBay?

Also, if I print my USPS labels with PayPal, can I schedule a pickup? And if not, then I'd assume all I have to do is go to a USPS and drop it off in the package box. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

Actually they have a pretty good and cheap set of scales at the P.O. for about 25-30 bucks.

I've seen a set of digital ones at Walmart also for $23.88. I've almost picked them up a time or two, but keep putting it off.

If I sold drugs, I'd probably be able to tell you the best for the best price, sorry.

I can't recommend you a postal scale, I just use a food scale for small stuff (up to 1lb) and then a regular floor scale for the big stuff that's over 1lb. It doesn't have to be super accurate for Priority or Media mail as they only charge by the lb (i.e. anything over 1 and and less than 2 lbs costs the same).

And as for shipping, you can just stick it in your mailbox if it fits, but otherwise you can schedule a pickup from your door or whatever as long as it's Priority or the other more expensive shipping methods. So if it's a huge box that doesn't fit in your mailbox and you're shipping it media mail they don't technically pick those up (you might be able to lie and they'd get it anyway), so you'd have to take it to a post office and drop it off.

It's just games in bubble mailers. I guess I can take them to the post office. Does anyone know if I can stick them in a USPS mailbox? I'd be sending games First Class with DC.

And if anyone has seen a scale in a B&M store that isn't over $25, let me know. I'd go buy it.

You can stick them anywhere - your mailbox, the post office, a post office mailbox on the street, it doesn't really matter, it's just like using stamps.

Along the same lines, I got one of these 75lb scales back in '05 to weigh all the junk I was mailing back home from college:

In fact, I'm pretty sure it was this seller, too. It's been real handy for weighing packages and luggage and other random things over the years, so I've gotten my ~$35 worth out of it by now.

I highly recommend using paypal shipping and buying a scale to send them out (Did probably about 100 trade outs last year). It would have saved so much money on DC, gas to the PO, ect. Your local post office definitely should have a scale for $20. Game sized bubble envelopes are fine in any outgoing mailbox as long as it is not over 13 oz.

I bought a 5 kilo digital postal scale for about $15 at Wal-mart or Target. Works great, and I saved on shipping. For larger sales bundles I just weight it piece meal.

Paypal shipping really saves both time and money. Just follow the rules. Media mail with DC also saves tons on DVDs, Blu-Rays, games and guides.

I purchased a Food Scale, not digital for 8.50 @ WM... it's not exactly perfect but when sending parcel Post, it does onces fairly well. most are either 3-5 anways. I think I had one 6 for a pc game.

I can send most through my mailbox in bubble mailers for around ~$2 hardly much more than that.

I've saved so much time and money by just scaling and mailing stuff out to Goozex by doing this.

Edit: Sometimes Stamps.com gives out 2lb scales for free if you sign up for a week or month free trial... could look into that. I swear even I got a free 1lb scale from USPS for getting a postal kit.... wonder if that's still a good deal. but the scale was shit.

At least with the food scale, it has two purposes....

For the short time when I was selling games, I actually used Amazon to find the weight of the game. Just look up the product, and the info should be under "Product Details".

I use 7oz as the standard weight for all the games I trade/sell. That's rounded up from a complete copy of Oblivion and I don't see most manuals being heavier than Oblivion's. I've never had a problem with 7oz.

Are you sure you meant to say media mail? Not only is is slower, but the price difference between it and first class is so low, it's not worth bothering with. (It's actually $2.41 to send out media mail vs. $2.36 for 1st class for a 7 oz package).

When I ship a guide and game together, guide bundles, or packs of movies I always use Media Mail for cost reasons. You are correct regarding FC shipping for single or paired games, DVDs, Blu's, & HD-DVDs is cheaper.

The speed isn't an issue because (as the lady at the post office told me anyways) the delay comes in the sort priority, not during the actual delivery process. Since my post office is the actual sort center for the surrounding zip codes it takes the same amount of time for FC or MM.

However, since most of my packages are around 2lbs MM is frequently the best deal.

I bought a 5 lb scale from BJ's club for about fifteen dollars years ago. It works fine.
I always go first class for a single DVD or game, it's cheaper than or not much more expensive than Media Mail, and it's faster and is a value-add. Things greater than a pound, I send media mail. I just put it in my mailbox.

i was looking for a scale too. lol
