Does anyone buy games that are being released that week without any incentive at a good deal? I got SMG at Toys R Us only for the 25 gift card that came with it during the first week of sales.

With Brawl coming out is everyone just reserving a copy and paying full price or are people waiting for another Toys R Us deal to come out?

This not only is a topic about Brawl, but also games like No More Heroes that seem to be worth a pickup, but at what price.

No More Heroes, I am for sure buying Day 1. For games I am waiting for, I will pay full price if there is no deal. I don't go out on a whim and pay $40 and above for games I might like. Or impluse buy.

Lately I just don't care so much about getting a deal... I usually have access to a 10% off coupon at the least I can use to shave some money off the front, but if I really want to play it, I'll pay $50 for it. Of course, I haven't bought a game since November, so I'm a little rusty. I'll most likely be paying full price for NMH and Brawl the next two months.

If it's a game I must have like SSBB I like to look at the ads here and see if anyone has somewhat of a deal somewhere, but I usually like botticus just use a coupon from here.

If it's a game I would like to have but am unsure about like NMH I go the old skool route of renting it and waiting for it to drop in price or find a deal somewhere

I really only try to pay full-price for games that I know will either be worth the money, or aren't going to have a deal.

I mean, I and many others would've purchased Mario Galaxy day 1 even without the incentive of the TRU gitftcard. I have to imagine the same is true for Smash Bros. Nintendo games never go down in price, anyway, so there's no incentive to wait. Unless some random deal pops up, you'll end up paying the same $50 for Smash day 1 or day 365.

The other category of games that I pay full-price for are ones that I have no reservations about, and want to actually support the developer. I got a 360 around Christmas, and have 12 games. I only paid full price for one, and that was Mass Effect. A game like that, I have no qualms about paying full price for. Worth the money, and a game that I cite as not just being worth the $60, but worth the $410 I paid for both the system and the game.

If I find a deal, that's great, but I don't always let the search for them get in the way of my buying.

I basically only pay MSRP once a game becomes visibly less-common in the wild, like Persona 3. That, and SMG with the $25 incentive... but no, I can count the number of times I've paid retail price on any game on one hand for the past year.

God bless this wesbite for that very reason

If I suspect that the game will not drop for a while (Super Mario Galaxy) or may become harder to find before dropping in price (Persona 3), then I'll pick them up at or near full retail price (-10% as long as GS has their coupon). As long as the game is good and is of at least moderate length, then it's worth it to me.

Just depends for me.

1. How much I want to play it.
2. Do I have time to play it right now?
3. Is my back log pretty much cleared out.

If I'm dying to play a game, or I have some free time and nothing left unplayed on my shelf, I don't mind paying full price.

For Smash Bros, I won't buy it day 1 unless there's a deal, both because I'm not overly stoked for it (like the series, but not a die hard fan) and I still have a few 360 games to get caught up on that I'm unlikely to finish by it's launch date--maybe can get them done if it really is delayed to March.

Other than AAA must play games, I won't even consider buying others at full price, prefer to wait until they are $20 or less for the second tier type of games.

The only time I paid actual money for games at MSRP is when Wii launched, I bought three games. The most I've paid for a game after that would be $33 for MoH:H2.

The only other time I pick up a game for full price is if there is a good deal on trade-ins, i.e. Farcry+OpenSeason -> Super Paper Mario -> Mario Strikers.

Also, surprisingly, I am not a Nintendo fanatic so the only reason I picked up Mario and Metroid was because they were $25 and $28 respectively. Both games I traded up for Guitar Hero III a couple days ago.

Like others I don't pay full price unless its something I want to support with an opening day purchase (I would cite to Galaxy but I too took advantage of the TRU deal and just transferred my preorder to something else).

Now that I think of it I used that preorder plus another 10 bucks to buy Ass Creed at full MSRP, but did this knowign that I would later swap Ass Creed for Mass Effect with a friend (we did adn I beat Mass Effect last night).

I pretty much buy like dmaul does; sometimes I think DMaul might be my doppleganger b/c we pretty much play the same games (in the same way evidently), I pretty much agree with almost everything he says, and we both think that the only way to go is to own both a 360 and a Wii!
