Buying DLC through retailers?

I have a question, if I purchase DLC through a retailer, such as the Forza 4 Season Pass, do they mail me a card with the code on it or do I get a code though the internet via e-mail or something?

I believe most retailers send you the code by email.

Haha, wow I didn't even realize I used the wrong "through." You guys are such Grammar Nazi's.

So has anyone actually purchased them from a retailer?

I believe it is through e-mail. I remember reading about people ordering Microsoft points from GameStops website and waiting for their code. If you go to the store and purchase it, they just print it out on the receipt.

If you go the the physical GameStop store they print you out one on a receipt. Everything online sends you an e-mail right after you buy it.

I've purchased DLC from amazon, and they just provide a code. I assume gamestop would do the same.
