I've never been much on buying anything at launch especially games, but since Halo 2 and the holidays I've slipped up a couple of times. Since I know that I will not be paying full price anymore, I thought I'd post this to find out if any other CAGs ever pay full retail for games.

1. Halo 2 - well my wife let me use some of her bday money to buy it (54.99 LE). I didn't ask any questions, nor did I give her time to change her mind. I've gotten my moneys worth IMO.

2. MechAssault 2 - I think I slipped on this one because someone gave me a CC gift card for Christmas. It's hard thinking of a gift card that someone actually gave you as your money, so I think it made things less painful. I'm thinking of selling/trading cause I never play it now.

3. Ghost Recon2 - I bought for Christmas and wrapped it to put under the tree. In the meantime Kmart sold em for $20. I returned the $50 copy to CC, and kept my $20 copy.

4. I know back in the day all my N64, NES, and SNES games were full price cause they were bought with OPM (other people's money).

I don't think many of use pay full price unless we get cool bonuses, like the Suikoden 4 artbook, the DVD with Xenosaga or if its a collectors edition like Halo and RE4

I'm not buying any game ever again at launch unless it is on sale big time. Like when MP2 and PoP:WW were $37 at target. 25% off is pretty sweet I guess for something new that I really want otherwise I'm content waiting until the inevitible price drop... I've got enough crap to play!

Buying launch games isn't usually my thing unless the dealer is offering a special trade-in offer toward the purchase of the new release. EB has had some good trade-in deals toward new games in the past, but their POX list is getting too long at this point.

Hmm, well I couldn't take it anymore, so I had to get the RE4 CE. I got Halo 2: CE at launch, but only paid $40.

Last game I paid original MSRP for was Katamari Damacy, since my BB didn't stock it for a month and a half after its release, and I needed it immediately. I also bought Halo 2 LE within a month of its launch, but got it for $10-ish.

I only buy a few games at launch. I usually like to see if Outpost has a deal on them first, but sometimes it's unavoidable. Recently I've bought Halo 2, RE4 and Champions: Return to Arms for full price at launch, at least I got some freebies with them.

Last launch game was Castlevania: LOI for the PS2 (and U see how cheap U can get it NOWADAYS...until Resident Evil 4 ($43.50 at NewEgg).

I might regret it once I see some major markdowns...but dang it, I had to have this game NOW.

Resident Evil titles are my only weakness. Otherwise it can wait until the game hits greatest hits and even then I will wait until target has a sale for like $15 greatest hits.

I'm probably the only sucker who bought Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness at launch for $49.99. Oh, how I regret that! Especially now because I've seen it for $7.50 at TRU.

After discovering this site, I don't pay full price unless there's some other incentive or if the game comes as a gift. Even then I usually tell people where to get the best price.

I rarely buy games at launch, I mean game prices for the current generation just drop way too fast for that. Or some deal on ebay pops up, saw a buy it now on ebay for Halo 2 LE edition for 26.99. Much rather just wait and buy dirt cheap so when it starts collecting dust in shrink wrap I can go well at least I didn't pay that much for it.

I'm like most folks round here, I rarely buy a game at launch. Usually its either a must have title (ie: Halo 2) or its already dirt cheap (ie: ESPN 2k5 titles).

Next time I'm buying at launch... WWE Wrestlemania 21 for the XBox. As anti WWE I am... well.... you don't see any TNA games coming out soon now do you? :(

Wait...did you just say you bought Champions: Return to Arms? I didn't think it was out yet. I love the first one, and I have been waiting...cuz I thought the release day was Feb. 10th.

I've always bought some at launch . . . there's a thrill in being with the crowd. Now, I try to use CAG tactics to do it more efficently. But with my storehouse of unplayed or unfinished games . . . its hard to justify.

I bought Halo 2 at launch, but I got a good deal on it, so I didn't pay MSRP. I also went for the RE4 tin for collectable purposes. That's probably the only game I've paid full price for in quite some time.

Sure, I still buy games at launch. Of course, a lot of time I get them for trade-in credit at Rhino, but I've still been known to out-right buy a game if it interested me enough. Matter of fact, bought Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath on Thurs. Would have gotten that one from Rhino, but I wanted the bonus DVD & had the cash.

This site has saved me a ton, and there are a lot of games I avoid when they first hit because I know they will drop. But there are some I can't wait for. :)

If it's a game I've had my calendar set around, I will pick it up at launch just because I'm impatient. If it was a game that I am interested in but not as much I will probably wait for the price to go down then pick it up.

Pretty much never. There has to be a bonus game like Ura Zelda to make me feel I'm buying multiple games for the amount spent and threfore nowhere near full price.

Ever games that launch at bargain price make me feel compelled to seek a deal. It's as close as I come to playing a sport. Several games I got during the TRU B2G1 were $20 or $30 new releases that rang up for 33% off after the sale kicked in.

I always buy game at launch... I don't see the point of not buying it in 2 months just to get 5 dollars off... but then again, I spend alot less than you guys on games.

Consoles on the other hand, im not going to buy my next console at launch and will buy it at the next price drop...

The last game I paid full price for was Halo 2 LE. The only reason I got it was because GameRush had some awesome trade in deals of the trade 3 get 1 for $10. I had about $45 credit so I thought Halo 2 would be a good buy since I could not find it used.

I don't buy too many games at launch and very rarely pay full MSRP! However there are a few exceiptions I'm willing to make at times like Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory Limited Collector's Edition for Xbox and Xenosaga Episode II (w/Bonus DVD). I too got Halo 2 LE on Launch Day but only for like $35, so it was well worth it! GTA:SA - $33 on Launch Day (TRU was having B2G1 deal)
I buy a lot of games at lunch. It's more convenient for me than going after work.
:imwithst:

The last time I bought game at lauch date was back in high school years. Now, I'm currently trying to build my ps1/ps2 library again with less money spent. I will never buy games over $30, only if the game is rare/hard to find, then yeah, I would have to cough money for it.

The last month or so, I picked up over 40 titles of PS1/PS2 for under $400.

If I had used that $400 on launch games, I would say I would have got at least 9-12 games out of it.

I've bought a few games at launch, but none of them full price:

GTA San Andreas (EB Trade-In Deal)

Mercenaries (EB Trade-In Deal)

That's all that comes to mind in recent memory, but I have Splinter Cell Chaos Theory pre-ordered (with a EB Trade-In Deal). I wish I had used the EB Trade-In Deal on Resident Evil 4, but It was alot better than expected.

psssh fuck games ... o god what? thousands of CAg'rs are standing over me holding knives and shouting obsenities now, aahhhh

Gotta be a must have title. Slipped twice during the Holidays with Halo 2 Collector's Edition, and Metroid Prime 2. The latter I went back to claim $10 though cuz it went on sale a week after buying.

Otherwise... wait til a game is $30 AT LEAST.

*looks at backlog* Must... finish... no... more... buy... Oh look a sale! NO BAD SELF! BAD BAD!

I tend to buy games at launch but i am very selective about games. For example my collection consists of GTA: SA, MP 2, RE 4, MGS 3, Halo 2, Halflife 2, Burnout 3, and ESPN NFL 2005. Most of those I bought at launch but Im not going to be finished with them for a while. As a matter of fact the only ones of those i've beaten are MGS 3, Halo 2 (though i still play live), and Burnout 3. My lack of funds makes me buy my most anticipated games and recently there have been so many in a short period that i;ve barely played the one i bought a few weeks before.

Once wretling season ends I guess i'll have time to beat these mofos.
