Buying Playstation 2 50000 OR 70000 series?

Squall280

CAGiversary!
Ok i traded in my Playstation 2 because of several issuses I was having with the system itself. I was wondering If when I go to repurchase the system should i get the lastest model of the old design(50000) or should I get the new slim version(70000). I don't really care about space. All I want is the system to play my games, not be as noisy as my last system, and not scratch my game disks. Please post your opinions.

Shit I dont even know what series mine is, but it lasted through Kuwait and isnt giving me any unusual problems as of like a week ago(been playing my Xbox lately)

Less noisy would be the newer model, but if you ever want to take advantage of the hard drive for any reason then the 5000 series is better.

Don't buy the slim PStwo, it's the devil!

See I want to jump and buy the newer system but there is not a shut off switch and I don't like the whole standby idea. I do like the one year warranty out of the box as oppose to the 90 day with the 50000 series. I don't care for the hard drive either. I just would like to get more opinions before I jump and buy one of the systems.

If I had a nickel for everyone that moaned about the lack of power button... whether you switch it off, or put it in standby, the system is OFF! Does it matter how it's done, really? Standby just means it is in a state of 'sleep' and doesn't use as much electricity as it would if it were turned on to be played.

no need to be sarcastic.......i just am worried about there being no power button because i travel quite frequently and don't need a console to be on standby for a certain amount of time. i am just trying to weight my options.

If you are worried about it, unplug it. Problem solved.

I didn't realize that anyone actually used the power switch on the back. :p

I used it when I inserted (and later removed) my HDD. Other than that, there seems to be no need for it.
