Buying VC games for a friend

My cousin's birthday is coming out and I am thinking of buying some virtual console games and giving them to him using the "gift" option. My question is, can I somehow get a copy for myself? Does the Wii offer a way to download the same game you bought over again?
 
After gifting a game to someone, you can also buy and download the game yourself. You cannot download the game to your console for free after buying it for someone else.
 
Also note that you must set your Wii to be in the same country as your cousin's. Because the shop channel is a dick like that.
 
Ok, thanks. I know the PS3 can do something similar, but I thought the Wii had the same capabilities.
