Recently my rental cable modem begin having issues. I decided it was time to buy on vs renting from Charter. Ive got a 12mb connection and my wireless is usually around 1-1.5 mbs

I went out and got a Motorola SBG6580 Surfboard eXtreme Wireless Modem from BB. Its a docsis 3.0, paid $150.

Its working pretty good so far, N support is a lot better then the range I was getting with G. My netbook and my tablet support N and their connections are a lot better.

Now the question is I also just won a very cheap brand new sealed Linksys e1000 Wireless N router. I could return my cable modem and buy something similar from newegg like the Motorola SB6120 cable modem or a Zoom modem for around $80. This setup would run me close to $100, or I could get something from Netgear and spend close to $140.

The big question is do any of you have another modem brand you would recommend? Anyone have any experience with the Linksys e1000 router? It seems the reviews on newegg/amazon say this series of router has a lot of range, and connection issues.

i would stay away from that router...it definitely has alot of issues as far as random drop offs and slow down. if anything sell it and get a better router. the 1.5 mbs connection on your wireless...is that with the new wireless modem that you have?
