I don't know where to post this but I will try here... Can I have two cable modems in my house with only one service....For example...I want to direct connect up in my bedroom for xbox...while we have a computer using the internet downstairs on a different modem....

Thanks

i think you're cable company needs both of the numbers on the modems' and they will charge you extra for having the second modem on, you're better off with a router

basically, if they let you put 2 modems on the same bill for free, then people would be able to give there neighbor a modem and they could connect without being billed, i think they would still need some sort of digital cable connection though

the cable company will charge you for two connections... or you could just get a router.. that will divide the connetion, if you do it wired then you won't really see any slow down but if you do wireless that when both of you are using the comuter then there will be mad slow downs. also you dont have to pay a second connection fee if you use a router.

you'll get charged for a second modem, most and almost every cable company will charge you whatever you are paying for the one modem. So say you pay $40 a month now you'll be paying 80. What I do is wire my xbox to a wireless modem and I put a wireless card in my cpu which is upstairs. It cost me around $80 to do this.
