Guilty Gear X2: Midnight Carnival for X-Box was online. Not sure if it's still up and running. I remember it being very laggy.
Yeah, I never experienced a playable match with that.

And It's like 4 iterations old now... shit's lame!

Those art books look cool. I think you can order them through Amazon Japan since its in one of the few categories that Amazon Japan will ship internationally. Unless you want to get them through Play-Asia about double the price.

The 3 styles in MBAA is reminding me of the modes in Last Blade 2.

How do you make an International account on Amazon Japan?

And yeah, I'm getting all the fighting games that come out this year, with maybe a few exceptions.

King Of Fighters XII To Be Shown At AOU 2008, Console Release In 2009
"this is definitely the year of the fighters"

For those lucky enough to attend AOU 2008 on February 16th, SNK Playmore JP and Taito will be displaying King of Fighters XII (Twelve) in video format. KOF XII has been in production for the longest amount of time, compared to any other King of Fighters produced and rightfully so, as SNK Playmore JP decided to start from scratch with a new game engine and completely overhaul the sprites.

King of Fighters XII will first be displayed on Taito's Type X² and later ported to Sony's PS3 in 2009, with a possible release on the Xbox 360 in the same year. Tentatively, expect the Taito Type X² release of KOF XII in June/July of 2008.

More information can be found here.

All we can say is...be prepared...to be amazed.

Thanks for the tip.

Looks like they're first on the 2d sprites in HD, on disc, bandwagon (You might imagine why I'm not counting Disgaea 3). That seems like a significant risk, especially with fighters selling like they have been.
Hmm I thought KOFXII was going the way of SFIV with 3d characters on a 2d plane.
I heard the same thing, but was thinking more like Rumble Fish. I got a feeling KOFXII will have a more 2D look than Street Fghter IV does.

I'm sure it will.

Aww... well that's a damn shame that it's gonna be so long of a wait for the PS3 version, but as long as it's good, I suppose. I'm hoping they throw as many extras into the console release as they did with XI.

then maybe more than twice. I'm not a huge KoF fan to begin with though.

The kewl kidz play Doki Doki Panic.
anyone have a favorite KoF team? I'm always a team Ikari whore.
96' Boss Team is my favorite of all time, but generally I've always liked the Fatal Fury teams. Can't go wrong with classic Terry, Joe & Andy.

I use a mishmash of characters rather than a team. In XI, my "team" was Oswald, Terry, and then some other, semi-random character... often Ryo, though.

Depends on the game, but in general I like the Art of Fighting and Fatal Fury characters. I also like the Ash / Shen / Oswald team in XI.

You really can't. I hate how Andy is often not in stuff (Vs. games, KoFXI etc....)

My team is XI is Kula, Gato and another random character.

I was pretty badass with Andy back in 99' when they first gave him the air dashing elbow. But the one move I never really liked was his floaty crecent kick thing. This:

If I'm actually playing to win (not likely as I don't live near any arcades or other people that play fighting games) I tend to use some combination of Blue Mary, Terry, Iori (yeah, yeah...), Leona, Ryo, Heidern or Clark. It's hard to pick a set team for the series though because everyone winds up changing so much over the years.

For example, in '97, Mary was a monster and could combo into her supers from a ton of different moves. In '98, there were tons of opportunities to block her, at least compared to '97. She still has some pretty awesome looking suplexes though.

I love the 96' Ikari team. Probably my favorite team in all the KOF games.

If I had to pick a second favorite, it would probably be the Yagami (Iori, Vice, Mature) team from KOF 98'.

YES! K'!!!!

My XI team generally consists of Oswald/Kyo (I like kyo better because I don't feel like a cheap bastard with him), K' and Kula.

99-2003 is K' + randoms I guess.

Games without K' Ill use Terry, Kyo, and Iori or something I dunno.

Also, Rock rocks. Why isn't he in XI

IIRC, it has something to do with the timeline of KOF... like he's still a kid or something, so he isn't a fighter because of that.

If that is the case, hopefully SNK will wise up for XII.

Yeah but don't they just null the timeline for KOF games because based on the Art of Fighting and Fatal Fury games Terry is supposed to be like 11 years older than Ryo. Also, Kyo wore a highschool uni for like 6 years!

Any word on how the characters are in Smash? Any kind of rough (very rough) tier list?

I've read King Dedede is very good, but that was from people on Gamefaqs (eww). Any word on who's hot and who's not?

from IGN

Q -- Any unbalanced feeling characters?
Matt -- Olimar&Pikmin are difficult to use
Bozon -- Olimar and Dedede. Though Dedede can lay the smack down to some characters
Both -- Meta-Knight and Pit have some serious cheese 1 on 1

Finally another entry in the Rebalancing Super Turbo blogs... this one's on Blanka: http://blog.capcom.com/archives/872

To summarize it... rolls have a safer recovery; back step roll has quicker startup; Hops have slightly more invulnerability but build up less super meter. Electricity requires less button presses and there are optional new inputs for the Hop (P+K instead of KKK)

Scrabble on XBL? My GF is going to be way excited about that.

Thanks for the Blanka STHD update Busta. To be honest though the longer I wait for STHD, the less I care about the game. Dunno if that's just me or if I'm playing WAY too much CVS2 right now.

Ooo. Battle Fantasia looks interesting. Do you think this will be coming over here? At least I can import it on PS3 if that doesn't happen...

Thanks for the pic MarkMan. I wasn't expecting it to release in Japan on both PS3 and Xbox 360. I'll definitely be importing it for PS3 whenever it drops.

I guess the RPG elements that are in that game definitely explain it's art style (a teeny bit). I actually don't mind it too much since it's a refreshing change to what we are used to seeing.
