Update: Congratulations, we've raised $52,953! Winners have been posted below.

Original Post:
Last year, CAGs raised over $49,000 for Penny Arcade's Child's Play charity. This year, I'm setting the target at $50,000.

For every $5 donated via PayPal through the CAG ChipIn system, you will receive one entry into a raffle to win 1 of 2 $500 Amazon gift cards and other great prizes. Every year, the CAG Community donates some really cool and generous prizes and I expect to get some corporate donations too. I expect the prize list to grow and grow until the very end of the fundraiser.

You must donate through the ChipIn system by 12/31/11 or your raffle entry will not register. Just click the "ChipIn" button to donate. Donations are accepted via PayPal and go directly to Child's Play. ChipIn tracks our donations as a group, but the money is immediately deposited into Child's Play's PayPal account and never passes through CAG in any way.
Cheapy posted to stay tuned. It usually takes a couple weeks. There are over 80 prizes to draw winners for.

Personally, fingers super crossed for a vita bundle from one of my 4 entries, but I probably just jinxed myself.
Same here!

Wait... damn it, jinxed myself too!

I never win anything, but I'm pretty sure this time I'm going to do well in the raffle :)

Only thing better than winning is knowing I was a part of such an awesome cause
were we to post on the thread we made a donation?
I made a second donation on 12/31 of $50
I'm sorry - the rules of the Bonus Round required that you make the donation and quote the post before the end of the donation period. I don't have access to the entire donation log (I have to e-mail Cheapy for verification), so the only way I know who wanted to enter is by having them notify me (I use the quote method with the giant colored headline so I can easily pick out the posts of those who wanted to enter).

What a great group you all are. I only chipped in $5, maybe more next year. I tried to post earlier in the thread, but got stuck in a login-out loop. The fantastic uncle bob here got one less entry. Good luck all. Thanks cag members who donated prizes and time/$ for this great cause. Thanks cheapy d and all of the big sponsors. Thanks child's play for being awesome.

I hope i Win a Vita Bundle too, so i can sell and donate that money to the kids too. They need it more than i need a new (albeit super awesome) toy.
How will we find out if we win if we use a different email for paypal than for our cAG name?
Cheapy will email you at your PayPal address. I won something the first year he did this, and that's how he got ahold of me since mine are different as well.

Did they pick the winners yet? Curious... I'm happy to donate but the idea of winning is also enticing. Thanks!

Thank you. Wasn't sure how that all worked.

And the winners of the third bonus round are...

Chrono Gear and Strell!

Send me your mailing addresses in PM guys and I'll get your prize ordered. :D

If this is inappropriate, I apologize. I don't know where to post this, or whom to ask, so a group who clearly care about other people is where I will turn. It is also a deal, so if a mod could point me to the correct forum, I'd be grateful.

For the month of January, The National Marrow Donor program is free to sign up. American Express is footing the bill, normally $100, for everyone who joins.

http://marrow.org/Join/Join_Now/Join_Now.aspx

I have been a member of a different group for years, Gift of Life. All of the groups that take DNA swabs are linked to the national list.

If you can join, please do. Did I mention it is FREE this month?

Sounds cool and all, but I would rather not do something like this at home. Is there some kind of way they can give me a voucher to get it done at a real hospital?

Awesome! Glad I checked the thread just now. Though I don't think lightning will strike twice I'm still hoping to win something out of the general pile. You guys who want the Vitas are crazy. I'm thinking I want the Amazon $500 gift card so I can buy a US Vita and some games. That's the way to do it! :p

I'd be happy with any prize, but that's just me.

Wait; what? It usually COSTS MONEY to join the list of marrow-giving donors? That's totally and completely messed up. I mean, I'm glad it's free this month, but shouldn't they be tripping over themselves to let you sign up to be a marrow donor?
I'd be happy without any prize, but that's just me.
Same here, I'm just saying if I get lucky and get any prize I would be fine no matter what it is.

Yeah, maybe people should be nice, everyone who has the possibility of a prize did donate to a charity. Nothing wrong with wanting to win something, if you don't want it, pull your name out of the running.

I was really just pulling his leg, since he was giving the other guy a hard time too.

There's only a handful of things on the list I would like to have for free (Vita, Amazon gift card, and maybe the Kindle Fire), but most of everything else I would probably sell and donate the proceeds next year.
quick question: what if i donated before registering on this forum? is my raffle entry still entered?
Yes, since it goes through the paypal email address.
Usually around the middle of January, so soon.
CheapyD said on twitter that is is dependent on super programmer Jon, who just moved and is in the process of unpacking.

You would not be donating now. It is just a simple swab you, like you see on TV or in a movie. I was sent 4 swabs, one for each area of the mouth (upper left & right, lower left & right).

IF you are a match, further testing would be done to see how close a match you are. That would be with a doctor.

I signed up 3 years ago, and have not been contacted.

Thanks for the interest!

Got an email from Cheapy saying I won (wonder what it will be). Happier that we CAGs reached the donations goal, but a prize certainly doesn't hurt. :grouphug:
did the emails go through CAG? What address were they from?
They went out to whatever email is attached to the paypal account you donated with.
did the emails go through CAG? What address were they from?
It was from @cheapassgamer.com email.

oh wells im sure the drawing is prolly done now after a few hours. no go on winning anything again. still nice to donate either way.

Guess I didn't win anything but I'm still glad I was able to donate for the first time since signing up here. If there's another one next year I'll be sure to donate again.
So is one person able to win multiple prizes? o_O
It has happened in the past. No winning email for me again this year. Oh well, there is always next year.
Congrats to the winners, which is everyone who donated any amount and of course the kids!
i think we all agree 200% with you
what you think should they have the winners name next to the prize?
They have in the past. 2 years ago I won a prize never got an email and didn't know until the winners were posted.
