CAG NHL 09 League-Not dead yet-Get some games in guys

I lost league games to both Gillums (1-0) and Pure Apathy (4-0). Against Apathy, I gave up 2 goals on an extended 5 minute power play for boarding. What the fuck is boarding, and why does the PP continue after a goal is scored? I've checked puck carriers into the boards approximately 872 times and never was called for boarding before.

Wow, I am kind of surprised that we can start before everybody has signed up.

Also if you got a 5 minute penalty for boarding that means it was a "major" penalty and that means the team on the power play can score as many times as they can while you are in the box for the full 5 minutes.

Thanks. I checked on boarding earlier, but it still doesn't make sense, since I have checked a ton of people into the boards front first with no penalty.

And yes, like Madden, it's flex scheduling meaning you can play the games in any order as long as there are at least 2 teams in the league. When you create the league, you set the maximum number of teams, not the required number of teams. So I could finish all my games but 2 with ivanctorres not even joining the league, and then when he joined, he and I would have to play our 2.

Finally, while I had to go right after our game, Gillums and I briefly discussed playing again soon. Pure Apathy and FrankySox are 2 guys I talk to and play with on a semi-daily basis, if not daily at times. So we will likely play those games soon, too.

also, is there a league website like there was with the 2k games?

Shit, maybe we should get one started then. Anybody else interested? 3-4 more is all it would take to fill up a team.

What I don't get is where do you create clubs at, or can't you? I see league play but I think that's versus human opponents, not AI, right? Or do you just invite people to a private match from the in-game friends list?
 
I think this league may benefit from a bit more structure, mainly the creation of a schedule so everyone will have at least one person they should play each week. Having assigned opponents would allow those people to communicate directly and try to get a time sorted out. I don't know about some of the other people in the league, but I know that I'm not online too often, and I have kind of a weird work schedule, so the likelihood of me catching someone else online when I am is pretty slim.
 
Or everyone can post the day/times they are available to play for each week and then people can contact others who are open to play at the same time.

Can we please make this a weekly schedule season, this league won't work just through XBOX Live...Or start another one, with that format, if I can get enough, I'll commish it. LmK
 
Id like to get some games going but it seems like we really don't have a good setup going as far as actually playing the games are concerned.

We have one owner with8 games played and many more with 5... just start PMing a few owners and set up times, it really isn't that hard. Plus, when you play, play both games with that opponent and you will be knocking down the schedule in no time....


Frankysox... was Superman playing goalie for you last night after shooting up some 'roids? damn man, I was barraging shots... I wanted to play the second game as well, but you signed off... lemme know when you can get that in.

Yeah sorry I had to get off, plus I'd like to space out the games a little bit and not play back to back against the same person. Yeah my goalie has generally played very well in this league. I've been shooting lights out as well so that's helping. I can't believe I got a shut out last night and I'm glad you didn't have a mic because I wouldn't want to hear what was going on on the other side!

I'm generally cool calm and collected playing games... it's only a game right?

I do like to play my games back to back though, makes it so much easier to get through a league designed this way doing that.... plus the games are only around 12 minutes long.
 
I don't see why everyone is havin a problem playing games. Just start PMing guys you haven't played with to set up a half hour to play both games. It's not that difficult. Plus this avoids a weekly setup where guys can't find a time to play each other and then we have to coin flip for a loss.
 
GILLUMS!!!!! I am 4-2 and you are 5-1. I have 15 goals and you have 14 goals. We both have allowed 7 goals, WE NEED TO PLAY. I have 2 straight shutouts. I just shutout Matt Young who had 31 shots and I had 15 shots but won 2-0. WE NEED TO PLAY...SEND ME INVITE!

We play everyone twice. You just challenge people from the lobby.

And yeah, the Kings suck. 31 shots to Franky's 15, and he beat me 2-0. I'm scoreless in 3 games.
 
Yeah you play each team twice so since the games are pretty quick just try and knock both out at the same time. The only thing I dont like about the league settings is that whoever makes the challange is always the home team. I wanted to try and keep the games so each team played one home and the one away against each team.

Also if you look at the league standing page when you first log in to the league from X-Box Live if you move to the right there is a line in the stats that shows you who you need to play and how many times you still need to play them.

Thank you for helping me better understand this now, I will be on tonight and tomorrow if anyone wants to play...I share my xbox with a roommate though, so if you chall me and I don't reply, he is probably on it.
 
Just got done playing my games with AJH and TheRock. Me and AJH split our 2 games both winning 2-0. However my game with TheRock was pretty sweet. I scored 2 goals in the first two minutes, but TheRock didn't give up and tied it at 2 sending it to overtime. We went to a shootout and I ended up getting a goal off the goalie after about 7 or 8 tries..

Franky and I played our second game. I finally scored a goal in my 4th game played. Franky dominated the first 2 periods, but in the 3rd, I exceeded my combined shot total for periods 1 and 2 and finally got one in. I held on for the hard fought 1-0 victory to move out of the basement with a 1-3 record.
