According to speedtest mine is 75 percent slower than what people have in the u.s It gave a grade of a D and I assume that's why or the terrible upload...

My area isn't known for internet. On the other service highest you can get is 3mb but it has a better upload. The upload on it is triple mine. My upload is the amazing speed of 256k. The other companies is 756k with there 3mb. lol

My area sucks for stores and internet service. I don't care about the stores since you can get games online cheaper anyway but I wish it would come up in the world with there internet services. They claim there getting fiber optic but I've been hearing that for quite a long time now. My luck is so great anyway they said where I live would be the last place they updated. There is a few places that already have the fiber optic.

Wanna guess how much my big oh 5mb is a month? 50 bucks....... I bet you guys pay like 40-50 for 20mb
Hey. I UPGRAYDD'ED Son. I got that high speed internet. Look at what I'm paying for 43 darrus.

Funny thing is my ping is lower than yours.

All that to play KOFXIII only. What a waste. ;)

Go buy a new controller I have something to show you anyway. ^_^

ping is determined between you and the server. Ping isn't a good determination of "speed". It's the raw DL/UL ratio you should be looking at.

Are you sure about that? Ping usually matters the most when we are talking about gaming. Someone could have a 50mb internet connection and have a terrible ping and it would lag them all over the place.

I've had a 1.5mb connection then it was 3mb and now its 5mb. They all play the same as long as it is stable. There isn't much you can do about distance. I remember you telling me as long as my net was stable a faster connection wouldn't make much difference far as online gaming goes.

Then again if the speed is messed up the ping is as well. If its unstable that is.

You don't understand shit. Ping is distance based. Good ping will have better connections because you're closer to the person or their proximity. Look at my ping and speed around 50-60 miles.

1984961984.png

Now try checking it from the farthest you can. This is to Florida. This is from California to MA which is cross country.

I'm aware mr Paco. I've done enough ping test to know the difference. What I'm saying is if your net is unstable instead of getting 20-40ms your going to get something high and far as across the world instead of 110ms for example it would be double or even tripped. Even my ping is only 110ms to CA when my net is stable.

I guess I should have been more clear. I don't mean the ping closer or across the world. I was talking about if it was screwed up in general.

Like Paco said, ping is greatly influenced by distance. You can't compare your ping readout with Paco's because you both are located at different places and connect to different servers. It's basically the latency, the delay between you and the server be it the bandwidth test server, game server, or another peer. But you can't exactly derive "speed" from this alone, you need your DL/UL.

Well I must go to the Mardi Gras that is the fleamarket. Hopefully I'll find another arcade stick. Hail Baby.

I'm more confused than ever now. Both Speedtest and pingtest returned what results it should but the game I was playing was lagging like a bitch for over a hour. It isn't now finally

Well, VF5 is out today. I'm sure most of you already have it, specifically those with PSN+. Please give your impressions on the netcode. I'm definitely on the fence about this game, especially since I'm on that damn Diablo 3 joint as of late.
u gotta make a vf5 spreadsheet now ;) im about to play it, free for ps plus members.
Why bother? Like Blazblue, it's going to stay popular mainly in Japan. Unless Urazian picks it up and starts hocking it.

I wanted to be able to play it online since VF5 came out and when I read the news this version was coming I was extremely excited. Then after playing it and realizing the online isn't as good as VF5 online on 360 is rather depressing.

Sega wouldn't be sega unless they SEGA'D it up somehow. Mediocre online netcode is what they give us so we don't get too happy.

I haven't got too far (played through Arcade mode once, ran through the Dojo, did 2 class courses), but seems there is no unlocking of costume pieces at all? I didn't realize customization would be 100% through purchased DLC, I figured there were some pieces that came with the normal game that would be unlocked via single/multiplayer.

Having only played 3 matches online (2 of which were underwater), maybe there are unlockable items in random matches like in VF4 Quest mode?...Yeah, kinda bummed by this one so far. At least it was free...

In regards to VF5 FS online, I played 50 ranked matches last night before bed, and I had a lot of good connections and some damn good matches too. But earlier in the day I played some online with uraizen, and it was laggy. We tried a few other games, 3S Online was just about perfect, Soul Calibur V lagged, and Street Fighter x Street Fighter rolled back and lagged. Mind you, we played SF x SF a bunch and it was fine before. Dunno what was up.

I'mma bout to dive into some more VF5, so we shall see. Also makes me wonder if the 360 FS will have better online since 360 VF5 was damn good.

This.

I found some good matches today. Was pretty damn smooth. Then I got hit by the LAGGY G. It looked like it skipped frames and chopped me. It made me do a double take on "Did dat shit just happen or was I drunk?" Full bars is good, two bars is a crapshoot, one bar is Mahvul Quality and no bars is Mortal Kombat quality.

I played it after we played it last night and most games was fine. There was like 3-4 games out of 12 that was laggy but other than that it was really smooth.

One bar Marvel? If Marvel is one bar then KOF is down there with Kombat with 0 bars.

I do find it odd you complained about the input delay on VF5 but you never have complained about the delay in KOFXIII.

That isn't what I came hear to say anyway. What I came here to say is I love VF5FS. I liked VF5 and had it since release. I always wanted to play it online so I rented VF5 online on 360 when it came out but I never bought it. I always assumed there would be another version of the game and to be honest if there was another version of the game on PS3 which was disc instead of psn I would have bought it on release day if that was case. The fact it came to psn for 14.99 is a steal but it gets even better. If you have plus its free. I should have gave in and bought plus a while back. I finally gave in this month and bought a year of plus since I was going to buy VF5FS anyway. The other 11 games for free is icing on the cake.

Forgot the other thing... The way the online set is up is awesome. Just sit there and someone joins automatically within seconds.

The reason I complain about it is because Virtua FIghter is a lot more intimate with frame setups and when attacks properly counter. I can dodge stuff offline properly, but online it's not fast enough to properly dodge and move. King of Fighter's is a lot more lenient in combos online then VIrtua Fighter is, not as lenient as Street Fighter 4 or Blazblue, but still more lenient then Virtua Fighter.

Game is going to die in a few weeks and Japan will continue to laugh at us when it comes to MURICAN VIRTUA FIGHTA

Got home real late from LA, but hooked up the TE-S and fired up VF5-FS anyway. Went strait to training mode and decided to go with jacky since i mained him in VF2 pretty much. Got through 99% of the training mode fine, but the 2 i couldnt finished were ones involving forward, forward, guard. It eludes me how to input it or when, i do it just as is and nothing happens.

Anyhow, after playing a bit, i jump online and play a player match against some dude, after 5-6 games, he just turtles and i got bored of playing him even tho i won more then he did. I go in ranked and won my 2 matches back to back. So far, im really liking it, but im mashing quite a bit since im not familar. The lag on the player match was bad, but the ranked matches had 0 lag at all, really nice feel.

Overall super happy with it.

Played around 8 ranked matches today and they was insanely smooth. I'm really enjoying this game. I doubt some agree but for all the content and the good netcode 15 is a steal for this one. Sega could have stuck it on a disc and I would have bought it. Far as fighters goes I would say this is the best value I've ever seen for 15 bucks.
Is there any earning of collectibles/costume pieces in playing Final Showdown, or are they unlocked purely through DLC purchase?
Purely DLC. I approve of this. The main game is all there, but if you want customization and bullshit it's in the DLC.

Thanks for the confirmation. Kinda ballsy, I guess they're going for the hardcore tournament people. maybe the start of free to play fighters, but they gotta figure out a better carrot to chase than upping rank.
played some VF5 online like 5 matches and zero lag for me :) im also doin pretty good. r u being scarastic option? cause deadliest warrior is pretty bad lol
How well versed in fighting games are you? Because most people who say a netcode is good have no flipping idea what good netcode is.

HAIL BABY.

i played tons of fighting games before and i had zero lag in my vf5 matches so idk. good for me :)

do any of you play old school style. by that i mean not hovering over people when theyre downed to get cheap hits or spamming projectiles? been trying to get back into fighters again and fucking everyone and their damn mom just plays like cheap bitches.

ive run into so many cheap fights and always when theyre close to losing they either quit or spam projectiles over and over.

I'm 6th dan in VF5 FS online, yay. like 145 ranked matches.

Online seems better than it was on release day for sure. But my internet was shitty around that time. Shitty shitty internet.
Just played some deadliest warrior ancient combat. Now that's a good game, unlike that SFIV.
Agreed 100%

Wut.

So... like... what games do ya'll play regularly. It doesn't have to be something you like, just fighters you play regularly.

I've been playing mainly 3s and SFxT. Third Strike is just fun and never stops being fun. I think I might need a break from SFxT for a while, been playing that shit non-stop since it has come out and I'm kinda getting fatigued/annoyed after playing it for several months.

Im going to start playing AE again soon so i dont suck too much at Evo. Also gonna be playing ST on GGPO again if you guys want to get that going. The only thing is i am almost done with my music playlist that ive been working on for months, and im working on this full time essentially, but ill be back to gaming as soon as its finished.

Trying to get more into VF5. Can anyone recommend a good stick? This is the only fighting game I have right now, not sure if I'll dabble into tons more, so I can't justify a $150 investment or anything like that. I just want something to make the thumb burn stop (using a PS3 controller right now).
