Here are my complaints/fix wish list:

*mp3 volume too low
*fast forward/rewind too slow
*no way to go to home menu with umd in drive (without loading first)

TOO MANY RACING GAMES THAT I DON'T PLAY!!!!
Too many ports of old games.
Load times suck.
Memory options not big enough or cheap enough.
Only a few non-PS2 type games on the horizon.

none yet besides the load time , no spiderman2 for me and the wimpy strap being white

I'm confused. what do you mean?
I have one, albeit from the second? shipment(no spiderman2 in the value pack) and that doesnt happen to me.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

forget the dust, after reading this is I returned it. My REAL biggest pet peave is the placement of the charger. It is in a tough spot to charge and play at the same time.

I put an hour of music on the 32mb stick with room for game saves...

Wha? Just rotate the plug so it's not protruding too much. It shouldn't be a problem unless a fiddler crab is trying to hold it.

I wish the light would go off when it's done charging, but that only happens after it's been switched on. WTF?

Analog stick gets uncomfortable playing Gretzky hockey.
Speaker volume level is too low.
Memory stick price.

Im saying there is no way (AFAIK) to get to PSP Home Menu without waiting for whatever disc is in the drive to finish loading.

Wow, reading these issues may reduce my 10% wanting one to about 7% ;)

I think the only way I will get one is if my fiance buys it for me for a wedding present...but I may just tell her no.

As a fiddler crab, I resemble that remark.

Hmmm...my light turns off after it's done charging. Unless some weird light in my bedroom keeps me from seeing the charging light in the early morning...

The only thing I wish was different is the finish on the controller area. Yeah that high gloss stuff looks great when the system is just sitting there, but when I actually start to play, the plastic around the buttons and control pad/nub gets smudged. I'd hate to see one of those OC cleanliness persons play a PSP.
Agree with most said, however my biggest is not being able to have a picture be your background!
not being able to change the background is my biggest pet peeve.

Sony's Propreitaryness
Load Times on some games (Untold Legends, Bleach)

And somone has to give these damn handheld wireless consoles a wifilobby where people can list what games they have and match up.

do you go home before turning it off when playing a game? Because thats the only time I have seen the umd load w/o me clicking on it.

The smudges and the low speaker volume are the things that bother me. Other than that, I'm very pleased with my PSP.

-My 2 dead pixels and 2 stuck pixels. Their annoying in mostly black or mostly white screens.
-Entering Text using the lame cellphone style pad.
-Finger prints appear to easily.
-No position memory in Music playback.
-No volume display when changing outside of the home menu.

But overall it's not too bad.

QC control
dubious surface choice--oils and finger prints show up

other than that, very very well done. I like it. No second thoughts or anything, which is rare for a video game machine. maybe because it does other things so well too ;)

If you have a UMD in the drive and you boot up the PSP, it automatically boots to the game. You have to wait for the game to load first, then you can press the home button to go to the main menu. So, if you have a game in the system, it makes it slightly more annoying to play an MP3 or watch a memory stick video. Not a huge annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless.

I guess they may have fixed that then the Only time the Umd loads for me is if Im playing and shut the power and turn it on again it goes to the game. All other times it goes home w/o loading the umd

This may sound crazy, but my big gripe right now is the volume control. I think there is too much gap between each tick on the volume meter.

I would also say the Volume on some games does not sound as good as the DS. I also think the DS has superior sound quality compared to the PSP.

An example would be wipeout, I have to turn the volume all the way up to hear the game. But this could be a problem with the game and not the system, but from asking a few people I know that own wipeout they have the same complaint.

I also do not like the fact the you can not see the volume display when adjusting while playing a game.

Besides that the PSP is great and I am really enjoying it.

My biggest gripe is the loading and unloading of the UMD discs. After my ds and gba, it feels like such a pain in the ass to have to pop open the back and switch discs.

I really enjoy my PSP, I have no plans to return it (screen is perfect), but man.... does it have issues.

I read ( i dont have one, yet :) ) that you can set the parental control to 1 and the pass to 0000, when you boot up, press X to play game, O to go home.

but i guess that's not a direct home, but better than booting a game, then going home.

I believe you are not shutting your psp down fully (hold it off for 4 secs)
you may be just putting it into sleep mode (just pushing power then releasing)

i tried with a game and this didn't work... maybe a movie umd would work

Battery life
Lack of (good) original titles
Analog stick placement
Overpriced memory sticks
Battery life
UMD movies costing at least $20
$249 for bundle pack.
Release JUST the PSP.

I hate this bundle conspiracy, and I hope that it isn't a sign of things to come for the next-gen consoles.

The lack of good RPGs in the near future.

Load times
Overpriced memory sticks
Holding back things that are obviously possible (a real browser, for one)
No wallpaper changing
Auto-booting UMDs
Smudges

does not play GameCube titles. j/k.

a black matte finish should easily solve the oily/smudge problem.

personally, i'm waiting until QC is under control, or improved upon. i am looking forward to ridge racer and lumines. maybe some real accessories? like a pda style keyboard hookup? i want a touch-screen psp!

Instead of turning the unit completely off, go to home when you're done playing and do the "quick" power off, (you know where it saves your progress in the game, and you start up where you left off). VOILA! don't have to wait for the game to load up :) That is how I do it on the Japanese PSP anyway.

An FYI: you don't lose any battery power using the quick power off and I find it much much quicker than doing the full power off :)

~analog gets almost painful after long periods of pushing it one direction or another, would be better if it had more leverage (I'm thinking staying with the same low profile but being slightly higher and positioned...physically...deeper in the system...wow, that sounded ridiculously sexual, sorry  )
~volume isn't loud enough, fine for a dead quiet room, but otherwise it varies. I want to be able to sit it next to me in the car and still hear it, dangit.
~me never quite being sure whether I've put it to sleep or on hold mode or turned it off for the first couple weeks...and occasionally still.
~cusomization, wallpapers or at least a permanent color setting should be possible without changing the calender date.
~sony not immediately having their hands in the possibilities of software for web browsing, ebooks, pda and other calender functions.

~I want to see something like the theater experience http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=801984
but with a small keyboard/keypad and/or mouse attachment. And a usb harddrive option, for PSP MMORPGS!

Some ports to hook it up to a TV? Although it totally defies the whole idea of the "portable", i'd love to play Ridge Racer on a 42" screen.
