CAG - Track runners?

For the first three years of HS, I ran XC, winter, and spring track. In winter I did the 55m, 400m, and 4x400. In spring I did 100, 200, 400, 4x4, and occassionally they forced me to long jump. I have avoided ever running since then, since I hated every second of it.

Hated? It's not that horrible.
I'm currently running indoor (screw XC, it sucks hard).
200m, 300m, maybe 400m. Next meet is end of the month.
I'm not that great though, only average. Hit 27 sec on the 200m, during my leg of a 4x200 relay.

Long jump? That's tough X.x

I threw shot and disc but got bored and asked if I could start to run. Made state in 100, and mile, medly, and 800 relay. MAN did I hate to run the 400m always felt close to death.

Edit--need to add that while I made it to state I got killed in the 100, the relays we made semi's but that was more the other three my job was to have a fast start and don't drop the baton or in effect--don't suck to bad.

Used to. Not anymore (well, I'm not in middle/HS anymore, so that might have something to do with it). I was always the fastest girl in middle school and could have easily competed for running, but instead, I chose shotput because it requires little effort and it got me outta one of my classes every day. ^_^ I mostly liked sprinting rather than long distance running, but I did well on both. Ok, I sound too cocky. I'll shut up now. :p

Post some times people :p
BTW, anyone here run NYC PSAL?

400m is tough, but not the worst.
I love the 200m and 300m. Dashes are fun but require so much arm strength and leg strength.
I played football in high school...we did more running then the track team.
Your school's track team must have not done a lot of running.
Either that or you did a lot of running.
Don't know. Depends how many miles.

Football players do speed workouts with the track team.

My personal best was a 5 minute mile

Also did 1/2 mile, 4x800, 2 mile, and X-country

I did X-country, winter track, spring track in HS. I still run to this day (although I've given up lifting weights for yoga and tennis)

i ran the 55m hurdles in winter, 110m hh and 300m ih in spring. hurdles were a little tough since im only 5'7". 8.8 in 55, 16.7 in 110 and 44.3 in 300.

When I was in HS, i was the guy did everything at least once. The fill in guy. 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m, 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, long jump, discus (one time) and dead last in shot put. I won races in 400m and 800m and relays.

I'm in college now, but track was my sport when I was in grade school/high school.

I ran:

100 M dash
100 M dash relay (anchor)
400 M dash
1600 M dash relay (anchor)
800 M run (finished in 10th place at the state meet in 8th grade :D )
3200 M run relay (anchor)

I was very good, IMO. I was good at both short and long distances, but the half mile (800) was my best event. I could never do any field events though!

400m dash? Can you hit below 55 seconds?

I was gonna try the 400m dash this winter, but around the end of the month I got a really bad case of bronchitis and my doctor made me quit. Oh well, there's still lacrosse in the spring

My best was 59 sec. Never got that fast.

I was on the track team 2 years ago. I probably would have continued except for the fact that I sucked at everything except for the long jump. Oh well. Anyone play badminton here? I'd be kickin ass at it right now but my HS doesn't have Boys Badminton. Sexist :censored:

I ran track in High School and 2 year college.

I tried the sprints early on but the middle distance is where I did the best.

400 - 52
800-1:58
Mile- 4:27

In college I went to a smaller school and tried everything. One meet I did a 400m Hurdle, a leg of the 4X400, 3000 Steeple and a 10,000m.

Cross country was my favorite though. I still run to this day at decent times for being out of school 15 years.

I used to.

I mainly played volleyball though because I was actually good at it. I was horrible in track. I once ran a hurdle race at a track meet, was in the lead, and tripped and fell over the LAST HURDLE, damn I was embarrassed, but it's funny now.

I played basketball through high school...well most of it, but now I run 5 days a week to stay in shape and whatnot...so I guess I kinda run track in a way now...

That's hilarious :p
...Well, not for your school, but it's funny for the other schools to laugh at your's.

WeaponX2099 - 59 sec is not too bad, but that's not winning time :?

Slipknot9762 - What's your practice like? 10x200? Mileage, core?

BTW, NYC PSAL league is full of fast sprinters with 200 times in the 21-22 second range
el bobo does. He complains about it while we play Halo 2.
Hell yes I do complain about it. I run the 400, 200, and do long jump.
Times
400- 61.2
200- 26.5
Long- 16' 10''
These times are for indoor though, I hope to do better in outdoor.
I'm a freshmen BTW

Fressshhhmmmannn...
Stupid freshman :p

I'm soph, but I only hit 27 on a 200 :(
It'll probably improve in my next meet.
Fast for a freshman.

What league are you in?

I ran long distance frosh/soph year, but I sucked hard. Freshman year I was real real bad because I had never done anything like that before, soph I did a bit better but I began to have a bad pain in my right foot and I got sick too so I missed a good bit. I doubt i'll do it this year or senior year, I'm just not real into it.

I run at the D1 level. I'm nothing special, just your typical 14:20 5K guy hoping to one day qualify for the Olympic trials in the marathon (For those of you who don't know much about track there's hundreds on people just like me.)

I run track, i run a 47' 300 and a 7.9 55, Yesterday at a meet I took a fuckin huge dive at the end of my 300 right at the end, but I got commended because I got up and finished, the coach was more proud of me than the kid who came in 2nd out of seven, (i came in fifth I think, I was going to be third.)

EDIT: by 'taking a dive' I mean I tripped, I was having a bit of a battle with the kid next to/behind/in front of me. Not sure if he did something. I think I hurt my hand but it feels better.

I think my school is AAA not too sure though, but we have a crappy track team.

Ah, this takes me back!

Ran the 800, 1600, 3200, and XC in HS. I was pretty decent. Also did road races in SC and NC (mainly Charlotte). Mostly 5k to 10k (3 to 6 miles).

Been out of running for awhile. The thought has crossed my mind to start up again. If I can only quit working these 7 day work weeks. :)

10k o_O

I hate marathons.
NYC Marathon is brutal. Just plain brutal.
Especially when the Kenyan are doing 5 minute miles for 23-odd miles.

i played football this year, made the basketball team, and now that b-ball season is almost over, i'm gettin ready for track.

I ran Cross Country last three years of high school and track sophomore and junior year (mile and 2 mile). Then I went to college and never ran again :)

My best 5k was 17:45, not too bad but not great. I think my best 2 mile was 10:30.
