I honestly was expecting us to get to the thousands, at the least. Especially since we had that contest for registering 20,000 users. Just $1 from most of them would've been a huge amount. Any sort of charity is good though, even if it isn't THAT much.
Just wish people would realize how much money they are saving because of this site. The least they can do is support CAG by donating in their name to help the needy. Even if everyone only donated a mere 50 cents, we would have $10,000! I know many of you can spare 50 cents.
I think many people have gotten fooled by that one number. There are 20,000 *registered* users....that doesn't mean that there are 20,000 people who regularly visit the site. Many of them may have registered a username and then stopped visiting the site. Even the number of daily visits can be misleading, since many regulars hop on and off the site during the day. A much better gauge of the foot-traffic through this site, so to speak, would be the # of entries in the contest threads. Those tend to reach into the...what...few hundreds? There you go. And that's including folks with 1 post (for the contest.)
Keep in mind that many of the people here are too young to have credit cards. The wee little tykes. Or, like myself, they don't have paypal accounts and don't want to sign up for one for the sake of one charity drive. This is a good site, and it's impressive that we've managed to scrape together as much as we have, keeping in mind the results of the many redundant age/monthly spending on games survey threads. It is kind of disappointing to see huge number$ showing up in the DeepDiscountDVD thread while the support for this drive has ebbed, though.
