CAG vs. Slickdeals?

I've noticed that when it comes to deals on video games, the top two sites to visited are Cheap Ass Gamer (of course) and the other guys (SD).

I'm not too familiar with the history of both sites, but which came first? I've started to notice more often that people on the SD forums mention CAG and vice versa.

An example from SD forums:

This stuff really gets my blood boiling for some reason. Maybe it's because I see CAG as a community of gamers (cheap ass ones at that). Thanks CAG for making this site a friendly one to visit every day, unlike the slick people on other sites.
 
One thing I learned from slickdeals is hat those soccer moms are cutthroat. They make people here look like a bunch of pussys.

actually no... game deals are a very very small part of slickdeals.
 
I don't like SD's layout, Fatwallet is easier to browse and search. They all end up copying each other's shit anyway so it doesn't matter which you use.

CAG is much more in depth about game deals, and there are other sites that are much better for specific areas (computers, electronics, dvd's) than they are. Since those sites are so broad, it has to be a fairly hot deal to be relevant.

I have to agree with you here. Cheapy needs to bring in some new blood to the mod team.
 
To be honest, outside of this forum, it seems pretty moderated here.

I have to agree that Fatwallet > Slickdeals.

CAG > All when it comes to games, though. AtariAge is good too.
 
it was pretty bad with the whole hoarder thing on the clearance deal. For a forum like this the ratio of active member to mod could be better
 
I've seen people moaning on Slick Deals that CAGs hoard up all the games so they obviously think the same about us as we do of them.

I'm very rarely on Slick deals but it seems less of a community than CAG, more just a resource.
 
I've come to realize over the past year that SD/FW/CAG are pretty much one and the same when it comes down to just about every segment of the sites.

But I still would rather swipe deals from SD/FW and bring them here, rather than the other way around.;)
 
CAG far far superior in terms of gaming, but slickdeals helped my on some bargains as well. If I could only choose one site to go to, It would be CAG since I'm more likely to spend money on games anyway
 
Community in CAG is better.

First few CAG post on a deal:

"Is this game worth it?"
*Response to post 1*
"All right thanks"
"Great game, every one should give it a shot"
*Post comparing game to other games of the same nature*

First few SD post on a deal:
"Ordered 1 REPPED"
"Ordered a few REPPED"
"in 4 1 reped lol tbqh *20 smiley face emotes*"

I agree. I won't name names, but this one mod here is taking her power trip too far.
 
"Hot Deals" forums and websites have been around for a while. I use to frequent anantech's hot deals forum before FW or SD existed. The "soccer moms" were at mycoupons (I think it was) then at some point many sorta migrated to SDs (not sure why FW got bypassed.) Now I frequent FW and SD and CAG. CAG for me - has the best community.
 
FW has the best moderation out of the three. CAG has the worst. FW is known for its Finance forum. SD has and gets more threads quicker and more discussion. CAG is best for gaming.
