Well the minimum is 4v4, BUT if the other team doesn't want to agree to 4v4, then it would count as a forfeit for us unless we could come up with 8v8.

I'm not sure they're able to accept challenges... They shouldn't (logically) be able to be challenged if they don't have enough players.

Also... I've noticed that the 1st place team only has 1 person on their team competition roster/squad and they've successfully done challenges. So maybe people don't need to be in the squad to compete... though I'm pretty sure the rules says they do.:roll::wall:

I think another good question is why are there teams from countries other than the US, when only people from the US are eligible for the tournament?
 
lol... Supergayparade's squad is leading the ladder.

we definitely need to challenge as many squads as possible. it'll help our team a lot too, since we can maybe form some strategies
 
alright, i was checking out the MLG affiliated site, gamebattles.com and there's a lot of teams who have more experience playing as a team than us.

just wanted to reiterate the need to get as many matches in as possible before stage 2

This whole website seems to be a clusterfuck of bad design choices, and I'm sure the whole USA bit about the tournament is being completely lost/ignored with all the legalese. I would also take all their numbers with a grain of salt since immediately after signing up, my profile says that I have an overall record of 20 wins - 0 losses.
 
It seems to add 20 wins for each team you're on.

I signed up since a couple of teams that asked me to join couldn't get their shit together. I think my record was 40-0 at one point. And I did a pretty successful Quake 3 Arena tournament back in April. And a Frontlines one a few months before its release.

Screw that idea... I went and fixed it real fast... I just changed by profile to say US/Canada so I'm only half-lying (weird that they would have an option including both countries). If we win those little trophies, I just won't be included in the mix, so no worries about proving my "American-ness".
 
I really don't think there is a need for a GameBattles team, we just need to have more matches during the week..I say challenge people with 4v4 and if they decline and want an 8vs8 match, we should be able to get that together no problem

Well, I wouldn't suggest doing any gamebattles matches until this tournament is over, any matches we have should be for this tourny. However, the Gamebattles site is a lot better than the GGL site, so if we were to continue playing clan battles, that would be the better place to do so, in my opinion.


Also, DaNaD is now back on the roster and a squad leader, so he should be able to make challenges now.
I also made a little schedule that will hopefully help with making challenges. If your info is wrong post and let me know.

And terribledeli... I think you'll have to be in the CAG Warhawk clan to compete (you're not in the clan are you? I don't remember seeing you at any of the clan nights)... The rules doesn't explicitly say all team/squad members need to be on the same team, but it has the server setting listed as Player Clan, which would imply that they do. I've made a forum post at GGL asking for a definitive answer.
 
What we can do is sub divide ourselves into separate groups within this clan since we have a large number of players. And based on player availability have each different subgroup challenge a group. So guys that can only make it on say Friday should group together and make challenges on Friday. This also allows for us to become more familiar in working with a consistent group as a team.

I think mguiddy's plan of practicing by playing zones on CAG warhawk night is very appropriate. Everyone should try to show up.

Remember, zones are all about points and not killing/dying.
Also, when match starts and you jump in a warhawk, wait for a teammate when you know there are only a few warhawks to start.

I used to only play zones for the first month and a half I got this game, so that should be fun.

And all this talk of "ladder matches" keeps making me want to pull out one of my WWE dvds, lol.
 
Okay... since it seems the 25th was the best day for everyone, I accepted the challenge for that day. As of my last count, 10 people said they could make it, if everyone that can make it could make a post, we can figure out who'll get to sit this one out.

DaNaD, you should make a post in the Admin Help forum asking why you can't challenge anyone, I don't see why you can't. Maybe they don't let you challenge anyone if you have an existing challenge that you haven't accepted. Anywho, what happens when you try to challenge someone? If you let me know who and what times you want to challenge, I'll do it for you.

The map is Archipelago (Acropolis Assault) - zones. So it would be great to get some practice time in on that. Maybe also the Fri and Sat matches should have this map in the rotation....

just an FYI, I never know what time I'm getting off work so I could be a little bit late. Sundays I'm usually off anywhere from 6 to 7:30. So I'll be a sub for that night if we don't have enough to cover.

I'm usually able to play most any time during the weekends (Friday to Sunday) so I can play in this match unless we have to many people. Zenprime should have his internet connection up by then so he should be able to play. Also I was thinking it might be a good idea try to have to have other warhawk games during the week so we can practice playing as a team.

Smog and I were playng this map today - it was HARD to find it in the servers, and when I did fond it the title was "practice for tourny". But ya the two other clan members that were on the other team were killing us in the Warhawks.

Does everybody know where the mines and all the other goodies are in this map? I need to dig out my Warhawk strat guide I picked up for a penny.

Ya, the one with the islands, but none of them are in play in this map. Its just the main land in the middle mostly used for CTF.

Its great to put mines in random places in the road to get people in jeeps speeding to the next zone.

Oh ya trust me I knew where the mines are :lol: You know me and my mines. But thanks for the video on the 'nocks I had no idea where they were. What a tricky place for them!

During the CTF matches I get tons of mine kills on that map, its great for stuff like that. Also putting mines on thier planes - thats good also.

A good spot to mine is the vehicle health pickup, it's usually pretty hard to see there. And of course the zone post itself. That works pretty well, which SoCal can attest to. ;) :twisted:

And people need to remember, if you're flying a warhawk you can carry another player with you. I don't know how many times I've been stranded, watching everyone else fly off.

As far as I know everyone will get the special knife... I hope... I know I'll go sit in a corner and cry if I go through all this and it's only the top 32 that get the knife (if we're not in the top 32 that is).

And since others have requested more practice matches, I guess I'll issue a challenge for Friday at 9pm eastern and saturday at 8pm eastern to another team.


And, I just realized I had A mean all day and AM on the schedule, I fixed that, but if your's is messed up let me know.

The PSBlog post made it sound like anyone who is in the tournament at all gets the smaller knife, not just those in the final bracket. That's what I'm hoping, anyway.

Yeah dude we got owned. I think someone should get the maps and layouts that are going to be played in the tourney, and post them here. That way when we need to practice we know what to do. Its not that hard to get really really good a few layouts/maps
 
Because I'm currently in South Korea... I'm only good for Weekends... Your nights are my Mornings.... I don't mind getting up early to play a match basically 13 hours ahead,

so when its 8pm there its 9am here...

Anyways, here is my schedule:

EST times:
Mon-Thr--> N/A
Friday--> All day
Saturday--> All day
Sunday --> Mornings up until noon

Well it turns out that if you only offer two times for a challenge it automatically gets declined by the system... the leader of Blu_Clan was nice enough to point that out.

Anywho, he also said he'll accept the challenge for 9pm eastern on Friday... so I guess there'll be a game before the official clan match.

And Stakis... you might want to change your ggl account to us/canada, as canada only account really shouldn't be eligible to play/get the knife. Ask cthulhu8u if you can't figure out how to change it.

I'm extremely tempted to wake up Monday morning at 6:00 Am to play with you guys on the Sunday night 7:00pm EST game.... do you think it will go longer than 2 hours... as I gotta leave for work by 8:00Am (9:00 Pm EST)

Hell no, It's only one 20 minute game, so at most it'll be 30 minutes (20 minutes for the game and a 10 minutes grace period for people to show up. But there IS another match Friday at 9pm eastern, it might be easier for you to get in on that one.
