CAGCAA - NCAA 09 Dynasty - 2009 Season - Week 19 Week Deadline: 6/7

Week 8 recap:

We saw a new #2 contender in Florida State and just as quickly as they appeared, they fell to Duke of all teams and dropped like a rock to the #17 spot alongside rival Florida, who fell from #12 to the right behind Florida State at the #18 spot. Undefeated teams move up further, like Indiana to the #4 spot, Boise State to the #5 spot, and Vandy jumped up to the #11 spot with Pittsburgh right behind them. Purdue and Wisconsin fell out of the Top 25 so that San Diego State and Cincinnati jump right in.

The Heisman Watch for this week sees Kellen Lewis of Indiana stick with the #1 spot. Noel Devine of West Virginia and LeSean McCoy moved up to the #2 and #3 spots, respectively, while Michael Crabtree of Texas Tech fell to the #4 spot. Illinois' Arrelious Benn appears once again in the Heisman Watch in the #5 spot this week.

Illinois' Vontae Davis earned the National Defensive Player of the Week award with seven tackles and three interceptions against Minnesota. Illinois sweeps both Big Ten Player of the Week awards with Davis taking Defensive honors and Arrelious Benn taking Offensive honors.

This is the week that BCS rankings start appearing and the top seven remains the same as the AP poll, but the #8 sees a jump for Miami, Vandy jumped to the #9 spot, and Texas dropped to the #10 spot.

The biggest game of the Big Ten week sees Top 25 hopeful Illinois take on #13 Michigan to battle for their sixth win of the season. The bigger teams of the bunch, including Indiana, Alabama, and Vanderbilt, get a bit of an easier weak against teams at .500 or worse. It doesn't seem that any ranked teams face off this week and this week's #2 team, Arizona State, is off, so the chances for big losses seems bleaker than in past weeks.

Here's this week's full schedule:

South Carolina at Tennessee (THe CH3MIST) Lee Kirk
Ole Miss at Vanderbilt (moonknight25) Lee Kirk
Penn State (Dandeschain) at Purdue Lee Kirk
Lee Kirk Alabama (ThE 82 FREak) at Mississippi State
Lee Kirk Ohio State (FriskyTanuki) at Minnesota (Azumangaman)
Michigan State (XXXplosive11) at Wisconsin Lee Kirk
Lee Kirk Indiana (Archsamurai11) at Iowa
Lee Illinois (im2throwed25) at Michigan Kirk
Arkansas (Redrazorback64) at Connecticut Lee Kirk

Good luck and make sure to get your games in early since most everyone has games against the CPU this week.

Jones has been huge for me this year. Coffee gets hurt every game so he is important. I look forward to seeing how you got Vanderbilt undefeated up to this point!

Another close, but good game, Azumang. I'm surprised Spitler took three picks to the house, but I'll take whatever help I can get from my defense.

Dude, I would pay money to see you versus arch in the big 10 title game. Actually, do you guys have a title game...I forgot lol. I mainly keep up with the Big East and my poor bulls getting jobbed out to Rutgers or the Bearcats yearly ;P

No, we're one team short of a title game in the Big Ten. The way things are going, we'll be meeting in the National Championship game with the way #2 teams are dropping to crappy teams. #2 and #3 right now are Pac 10 teams, so they will probably be facing each other soon enough.

I might join this next time, when i get an xbox live membership instead of using 48 hr codes whenever I can find them.

Looks like a lot of fun.

Yeah if Frisky and I play it will be in the National Championship. I still have one game against a human (Azunga I believe) so I'm not in the clear for that yet. Plus, some teams ahead of me may have to lose for me to get the second spot.

Frisky, I've enjoyed participating in this league, but unfortunately my 360 is going to have to be sent in for repairs. So it's probably best to drop me from the league.
I should be able to put you on vacation mode until you get it back if you still want to stay.
I'd appreciate that! I didn't know about such an option. It will probably be 2-3 weeks for repairs though. I'll post again when I get My Xbox back. Thanks Frisky!

Week 9 Recap:

This past week seems to have been the least hectic week of the year, which wasn't unexpected when no ranked teams were facing each other, so the only big moves were by undefeated Vanderbilt and Pittsburgh moving up into the top 10 to push a few teams down a spot or two, but nothing major at all. Arizona State is still the #2 contender for the National Championship game after having the week off to relax in the sun. The BCS rankings also feature the same jumps for Pitt and Vandy while staying pretty much the same going into this week.

As uneventful as the week was for upsets, the same goes for the Heisman Watch with only Tim Tebow jumping up and taking the #5 spot while everything remains the same.

The National Offensive Player of the Week is Vanderbilt's Julius Mitchell, who had a big day with nearly 400 yards of offense and four touchdowns, who is also the SEC Offensive Player of the Week by default. Ohio State's Austin Spitler earned the National Defensive Player of the Week award with an amazing three interceptions returns for touchdowns in a big win over Minnesota and he also earned the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors by default. Alabama's Burton Scott earned the SEC Defensive Player of the Week award with two interceptions and a forced fumble in a big shutout of Mississippi State last week.

Unlike last week, there seem to be a number of interesting matchups this week with more possible ramifications on the National Championship game picture. At a combined record of 16-1, #6 Vanderbilt and #16 Alabama are facing off this week with one of these teams losing their perfect conference record and maybe a shot at the title, as well. #4 Indiana has a chance to knock #13 Michigan down a peg before Ohio State gets to face them while putting another big win on their resume in their hopes of making the title game a Big Ten showdown. Big East bigwigs face off with #22 UConn taking on #14 West Virginia to see who is the #2 contender for the Big East crown against undefeated Pitt. Keep an eye out for upsets to either #2 Arizona State by Cal or #3 USC by Oregon, as both opponents eye a chance to make a mark on the title game picture in any way that they can.

Here's the full schedule for the week:

Purdue at Minnesota (Azumangaman)
Penn State (Dandeschain) at Illinois (im2throwed25)
Arkansas (Redrazorback64) at Tennessee (THe CH3MIST)
Alabama (ThE 82 FREak) at Vanderbilt (moonknight25)
Iowa at Ohio State (FriskyTanuki)
Michigan at Indiana (Archsamurai11)

Byes: Michigan State (XXXplosive11)

Sorry for not getting this up yesterday. You guys will have until Saturday night to get your games in and I should be able to get the schedule back in order by next week's start. Redrazorback's game will be played by CH3MIST against the CPU since he's on autopilot while his 360 is being repaired. Good luck and make sure to get your games in as early as possible.

Frisky, when you get a chance could you take me out and then re-invite me into the dynasty before my next game. Because I changed my gamertag from Obama to JustinCredible, I had to spend 1600 points to play freak monday lol. Can't say I'm not dedicated to the league :)

82 freak and I couldn't play our game untill I changed my gamertag back to my old one. He said that when he tryed to view my gamercard in dynasty hq it had the obama one still. After I changed it back, it worked with no prob. If you want, we'll wait till my next human game with chemist.

Sorry about not making the big recap post you may be expecting. I've been busy all weekend and have not been able to have the time to sit down and write all of that up, but the week was advanced like normal, so there will be no extension on when you need to get your games in. The big deal for this week are the lists of awards finalists being announced, so feel free to get on when you play your game to see if any of your players are possibly up for awards or not.

Here is the full schedule for this week:

Kentucky at Arkansas (Redrazorback64) Lee Kirk
Vanderbilt (moonknight25) at Florida Lee Kirk
Lee Kirk Illinois (im2throwed25) at Iowa
Lee LSU at Alabama (ThE 82 FREak) Kirk
Michigan State (XXXplosive11) at Ohio State (FriskyTanuki) Lee Kirk
Minnesota (Azumangaman) at Penn State (Dandeschain) Lee Kirk

Byes: Tennessee (THe CH3MIST), Indiana (Archsamurai11)

XXXplosive, how about Tuesday at about 8 PM EST?

Week 11 Recap:

Another week, another #2 contender falls to an opponent as Arizona State falls to Orgeon in a close matchup that knocks them out of title game contention to the #10 spot. Boise State, who was also udefeated and an outside title shot contender, lost to Fresno State to cost themselves a shot at that title. USC now stands as the #2 team to challenge Ohio State for the title in January with Indiana as the other remaining undefeated team in contention. More losses for Florida and Texas have them on the brink of falling out of the Top 25 for the first time in a long time. Wisconsin and Connecticut actually fell out of the top 25 this week while Tulsa and South Florida earned spots in the Top 25.

The Heisman Watch update for this week still sees Kellen Lewis at the top while Julio Jones jumped up to the #2 spot. LeSean McCoy stood ground at the #3 spot while former contenders Noel Devine and Tim Tebow have fallen out. The two newcomers are Texas Tech's QB, Taylor Potts, at the #4 spot and Illinois' WR, Arrelious Benn, at the #5 spot.

The annual NCAA awards have been announced with the details lists of the top 12 finalists, but to simplify things, here are the tallies for teams with finalists in the top three of awards:

Indiana - 7
Ohio State - 7
Alabama - 5
Illinois - 1
Vanderbilt - 1

Feel free to check out the lists in the NCAA News section of the dynasty when you're on next.

This week's Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week is freshman phenom Terrelle Pryor, who had over 450 yards of offense and four touchdowns in a win over Michigan State.

There are a few big matchups of Top 25 teams this week. In particular, #4 Oklahoma hopes to keep its chances of squeaking into the National Championship game picture as they take on #13 Texas Tech. #7 Vanderbilt and #12 Georgia face off to see who gets the chance to take on Alabama in the SEC title game in a few weeks as the season comes to a close. Also, keep an eye on USC's away game against Cal, which could prove to be another big upset this year for teams hoping to take on Ohio State for the National Championship.

Here is this week's schedule:

Michigan at Penn State (Dandeschain)
Illinois (im2throwed25) at Ohio State (FriskyTanuki)
Tennessee (THe CH3MIST) at Kentucky
Georgia at Vanderbilt (moonknight25)
Michigan State (XXXplosive11) at Northwestern
Alabama (ThE 82 FREak) at Auburn
Indiana (Archsamurai11) at Minnesota (Azumangaman)

Byes: Arkansas (Redrazorback64)

Let me know when you're free to play our game, im2throwed25.

Does everyone have a bunch of bye weeks like I do now? I might be a little rusty for the SEC championship game. Good luck vandy.

Just some bad luck with the INT's Azumanga. You had some pretty good drives on me. How good is your running back? Thought you might run on me more. Good game!

Week 12 Recap:

USC managed to destroy Cal to keep their #2 spot and shake off the curse of the #2 ranking for another week while Ohio State stays in their #1 spot and Indiana patiently waits at #3 for an opportunity to play for the championship. Losses by #8 Arizona, #12 Georgia, and #13 Texas Tech shook up the middle of the Top 25 a bit. Texas finally fell out of the Top 25 so that Oregon could emerge onto the scene after taking out top ranked Pac-10 teams like Arizona and Arizona State.

The Heisman Watch sees a surprise contender pop into view as Ohio State's Terrelle Pryor's solid play all season has rocketed him up to the #3 spot, pushing LeSean McCoy and Taylor Potts down to the #4 and #5, respectively.

The National Offensive Player of the Week and SEC Offensive Player of the Week awards goes to Vandy's Julius Mitchell for getting over 350 yards of offense and four touchdowns against Georgia last week.

Bowl Projections have started appearing, so I'll be posting those up each week for those of you that are bowl elligible:

Champs Sports Bowl - 12/28 - Illinois vs. Virginia Tech
Music City Bowl - 12/31 - Tennessee vs. NC State
Rose Bowl - 1/1 - Indiana vs. Missouri
Sugar Bowl - 1/1 - Alabama vs. Boise State
Fiesta Bowl - 1/2 - Oklahoma vs. Vanderbilt
BCS National Championship - 1/8 - USC vs. Ohio State

As the season winds down, we're overwhelmed with rivalry games that will help set the bowl games in December and January. The biggest being Ohio State visiting Michigan to see if Michigan endures their sixth straight loss to Ohio State to end their season as Ohio State aims for the BCS title game. Vandy's looking to keep their Fiesta Bowl appointment by beating rival Tennessee this week. Indiana makes their final statement for their inclusion with the BCS title game with their game at home against rival Purdue. Three win teams Minnesota/Iowa and Penn State/Michigan State fight for their respective rivalry trophies to brighten up their disappointing seasons. Keep an eye on USC's game against Arizona State as another chance for them to lose and make the BCS title game a Big Ten party.

If there are any spots still open i would love to play in this. I have not played NCAA 09 in awhile and will probable be pretty bad though.

You'll have to wait for the season to end at this point, but you're free to join in a few weeks when that happens.
