CAGcast #146: Too Much Information!
No need to worry about me. I got plenty of love despite the fact Cheapy decided to read those glowing comments about me on the show. He's a bastard like that. :)
The truth is I actually pulled more positive comments than negative ones for reading on the show. The interview with Nick went longer than expected so I really tried to keep the show moving for fear of a 2 hour monster.

Here are the positive ones I planned on reading:

sickenmcsluggets
Great show...loved shipwreck in it, such a perfect mix of really different personalities. Porn or DS game was great. Ship really seemed to be getting
into it!

Froogin
I've gotta say that most of my favorite shows so far are the ones with shipwreck on it, I just enjoy the way the show moves along with a third person, it gives the show a fresh feel and it sounded like Cheapy liked not having to keep the entire show moving along on his own. Also, Wombats the shit.

aknowlesjr
Great show. Nice to have Shipwreck on the cast. He does add some class and respectability. The Foreplay cast is great too though.
The porn website thing was the best. This is classic crazy Cheapy and what brings me back to the CagCast week after week. The dick in a 360 deal was also great. Another example of unique Cagcast humor.
Keep up the great work and look forward to another year of Cagcast. I'll be listening for the second time tomorrow at work. The masses thank you for your efforts.
If Cagcast went away my life would continue like normal. If you've been a podcast listener for any amount of time and are over the age of 13, you realize shows come and go. Yeah, it sucks but I agree people are taking it a bit too far.

EGM closing is another matter. That deserves the attention.

p.s. Sounds like you need to have better days.
but nobody has read egm for years...everybody listened to the podcasts and watches the show.

also Cheapy- never have Shipwreck on the show again or I'll send you a bag of poo.
j.k., he was good!

Cheapy, heard you mention some religious documentaries, check out Deliver us from Evil. My wife didn't want to finish watching it because the guy is so nonchalant about what he did.

I hope you are not insinuating that I am some kind of emo 13 year old just because I am bummed about the whole 1UP thing. I was just describing my feelings towards the situation, the podcasts specifically. I'm not depressed about this, if my previous post sounded that way I didn't mean for it to. It's just something I liked for a long time that's not there anymore and never will be again, at least not in the same capacity.

Just because you don't give a shit about the people who bring these podcasts to you every week doesn't mean none of us do. I'm know I'm not alone in my thinking here, both on this website and others.

Cheapy, do you really need to worry about the length of the show? people can pause the shows you know. i don't mind if you went on for 4 hours! it's not a live show anyways, why are you guys worried about that? :whistle2:k

Great show.
Nice interview.

Keep it up guys.

I was thinking of Mad Men right before you announced it.
Great F'ing show.

So the Asian version of Afrika has full English support? Including the menus?

I ask this because I imported Pro Baseball Spirits 4 from PlayAsia and while I enjoyed the game I had to get rid of it because I don't know a damn word of Japanese. ;)

Good episode, but the last few were more entertaining. I blame Wombats lack of "wombatness". He should take more Sex Tonic.

Thanks for reading my question on the show.

Kind of disturbing though I wasn't 100% serious. I'll try to ask more Video Game related questions in the future.

Also Tube8.com > Pornhub

Thanks for reading my disturbing question on the show about Japanese orgasms. Cheapy I can't believe you asked your wife that. o_O;

Anyway I'll try to keep the questions more Video game related in the future.

Keep up the great work!

I am insinuating you are some kind of 13 year old because you are acting like one.

Look, I enjoyed 1Up yours and GFW immensely (the 1UP show was crap) and I will miss listening to them but some people act like their mother died*. Maybe I'm jaded but there have been many podcasts I've listened to over the years that have gone kaput. You just have to enjoy them while they are around and archive the ones you want to keep.

Besides a good many of these people will resurface on other or new shows.

*just to be clear I am talking about the listeners. Losing a job especially one you love sucks. IMO, any employee that was laid off in this mess have every right to act like their mother died.

Interesting interview, not sure I cared enough as I was not very concerned about 1up being dismantled. I of course feel for those involved, losing your job is horrible no matter what you did, how easy or hard it was. However, I completely understand shuttering their podcasts, the production quality was bad. The personalities were overplayed and generally annoying. I find it humerous that they actually plan to keep retronaughts, I loved the topic of the podcast but couldn't listen to it because the sound quality and production value was terrible and the people on it had voices that made me want to run into traffic. I would much rather read the transcript than listen to the terrible podcasts on 1up. They were interesting but impossible to listen to for me.

I found this episode to be one of the best CAGCasts in quite some time. Although it may not be interesting for all of those listening to delve into the personal life of Nick Suttner, I however found it fascinating to hear a personal account of what so many people are facing in this economy. Nick seems to be a consummate professional, and I really enjoyed his interview.
I am insinuating you are some kind of 13 year old because you are acting like one.
If expressing my thoughts on this matter in a somewhat articulate manner makes me a 13 year old then I guess I am guilty as charged. All I know about you so far is that your username is "usickenme" (if that's not a 13 year old username I don't know what is) and you seem like a douche bag. Otherwise we are good.

Dreadfully boring show.

Way to ask deep conversations to Suttner. We got to find out what we already knew (guards were onsite the day of the firings), what kind of sandwich he likes, and how much everyone like to bash Shane Bettenhausen.

To be fair I don't know squat for his personality or reviews, and the only thing I know about him is that he's accused by many of being a rampant Sony fanboy. But, hey, I got to find out that even more people think so, instead of asking Suttner about genuine questions.

Maybe you can have Alan Greenspan on next week and ask him if he prefers Caesar or Cobb salad.

The same thing applies to the Cagcast, how would you react if tomorrow you found out that the cagcast was over, gone forever without a send-off show or anything?
I would react the way I said I would react when I said "That's fine if you were a fan of it and are disappointed". I would be disappointed. That's it. What I'm saying is that there is an over-reaction, not that you can't be disappointed.
Thirdly, the former 1UP employees weren't just a bunch of frat boy losers who could do whatever they wanted. They were people working a job like everyone else. They had deadlines to make and standards to uphold just like all other employees.
Did you listen to the interview? They had huge leniency, he outright said they could basically come and go as they please. Unless they are punching in and out of a clock, they aren't 'working a job like everyone else'.

Hey Cheapy and Wombat. My 360 is being really slow as well. Not really with the guide button but when I power it on it takes like 30 seconds to get to the dashboard. My PS3 is doing the same kind of thing that Cheapy's was doing in the HDMI problems video too.

did you call the branch of the ATM or local police to find out if someone "returned" the $900? I've left my wallets around in Tokyo and people were always nice enough to turn it into the police station w/ everything in tact...Japan is a country with the people that might be nice enough to do something like that.

Wombat about your 360 sign in problem,

I used to have that ALL the time before the NXE launch. My Xbox would "sign me in" but not to live, then it would test my connection and come up saying it was perfect and ready to go. It was so frustating but never since NXE its been fine and logging me in like it should.

I am not entirely sure if it's a console or connection problem but just to let you know you're not alone with this problem.

He said they could do some of their work from home. Which in a job like that makes complete sense to me. I dont think they could just go to work whenever they felt like it, especially when they had very strict deadlines to meet on the magazine. If Nick reads this maybe he can elaborate a little more on their average work days, their schedules ect.

It was a good show, but to put it blunt...that interview sucks dick. He just wasn't interesting enough - after listening through it I wondered why it mattered at all. I still don't know why.

Not a big fan of this episode. It felt like a rehash of a previous "game journalism" interview mixed in with some tidbits on the 1up layoffs and the frequent "absolutely no one read your blog" insults from Cheapy. It also didn't help that Wombat was on his period. He certainly didn't sound like he even wanted to do the show. Instead he should have been sitting in front of the TV with a tasty beverage in one hand and a 360 controller in the other.

Despite what many CAGs seem to think about this episode, I enjoyed it a lot. It was nice to here about the 1Up fiasco from somebody who experienced it first hand. You went straight to the source and it made the episode all the better.

Also, get well soon Wombat.

Great show guys! Love the Justice intro. Cheapy, way to man up for the CAGcast! There is no way I would be able to be light and funny after losing money like that. Nice job compartmentalizing and satisfing the CAGs. Also really enjoy hearing the dick, groin and shit stories. Always gagging the laughs out of me on the bus.

Wouldn't others being able to see your premium themes be advertising, which you guys also shat on like just buying themes that you can only see?

I don't know about Cheapy buying the Famicom collection to donate to a museum since I don't think he could keep a hold on the $7k long enough to get to the store.

It was nice to see 2008 Douchebag of the Year winner CheapyD get shown up when Wombat asked Nick a question relating to 1up Fm and CheapyD showed off his award-winning talent by being clueless because he cannot be bothered to listen to other podcasts.

Good show. It was nice to hear an interview with Nick Suttner since you guys have talked about that being a possibility since he started at 1up and never following through with it until he was let go.

actually, i thought the interview was pretty entertaining but i really hated that Cheapy cut them up. i don't really see the point. it kinda took me outta the interview when they did that.

Cheapy's reaction to Nick Suttner's statement that Rebel FM has received over $11,000 in donations, "HOLY SHIT": Priceless, LOL

I admit that they perhaps were being a little tough on someone who just lost their job, but at the same time they were fair questions.

you gotta be kidding... no more EGM how is that not interesting.

Good show, although i found myself missing Shipwreck on this one. He's like the Robin to Cheapy and Wombat's twin Howards.
Wombat about your 360 sign in problem,

I have the same problem as well! It is annoying!

Cheapy is the Larry King of video games!

Cheapy, maybe the next podcast could be about sticking your dick in the ATM machine so you don't forget your money?

I'm all growns up too, but man, if I lost 900 bucks I'd be fooked!

Love the show guys.

P.S. I feel obligated to talk about my kid since Cheapy and Wombat too. My son pooped in the bathtub the other day, it was pretty sick.

All this talk about Cheapy not listening to other podcasts -- if I was married, taking care of my child, running a business, I wouldn't have time to listen to podcasts either. Who makes this type of criticisms, high school kids?

Great show!

I don't get why people constantly hate on Shane and call him a "Sony Fanboy", he's as much of a Sony Fanboy as Cheapy is a Microsoft one. (Which is constantly denied). And about the "Next-gen" rumble Shane mentioned in MGS4; has anyone played MGS4 with the dual-shock 3? It's pretty incredible. Yes, the tech is not "next-gen" but the way Konami used rumble in the game is very much next-gen. (For example; in certain cinemas you can feel each bump while snake equips his gear).

If it was the first game I played with the Dualshock, i'd also be pretty confused on which part of it has been updated; the game or the controller.

Wow Cheapy is a baller. Takin 900 dollars and makn it rain on them hoes. man cheapys really a P.I.M.P.

I can't seem to download the CAGcast. Is there something wrong with the download link?

EDIT: It's fixed now.
Good episode indeed! What is the intro to the episode?
Valentine by Justice. I am a huge fan of Justice, and while it's one of their weaker songs it's still pretty good. Youtube their album Cross to find even better songs!

cool thanks man

There is a BIG difference between saying, "I had some alone time" and saying, "We had some alone time" when speaking of pulling your groin, Wombat. I'm just saying...

Wow, I've had the same issue as Wombat where NXE doesn't sign me into Live and tells me I have a problem with my connection until I go to "Test Connection" and it suddenly finds it. I've just been assuming that it's a sign that my 360 is getting ready to die, but maybe it's actually related to NXE. Never thought it might be a systemic issue.. (for the record, I'm using a direct line in, not the wireless connection and I have my 360 tied a surge protector).

I've been reading a lot of the comments of people being tired of hearing about what happened to the 1UP guys, and I'm very on the fence of the coverage of it all. On the one hand, I never went to 1UP.com, never listened to any of their podcasts, so really didn't have much tie to any of it. And, while it is definitely big news and while it is really sucky for those involved, it does feel like every podcast in my feed spent at least half their show on it, and there is only so much you can hear of the same story. On the other hand, even though I never paid much attention to the 1UP stuff, I found myself going to eat-sleep-game.com and subscribing to the Rebel FM podcast. I don't know if it's going to be "for me," but it has broadened my gaming horizons a little bit. And, in this crazy economic time we have, it's good to know that people still care about those who lose their jobs...never know when/if it might be you.

Wow, that first half interview with Nick was such a bore fuck. I was wondering how a guy like that has a following in the podcast. Than the second part he seemed to loosen up a bit more to Cheapy and Wombat, still he seemed to not really come out of his shell. After the second half I can see the potential that he has and why he has a following. His stories in the second half kept me more entertained for some reason. Than again, anything is more entertaining than listening about an obese hetrosexual who works at a gay advertising firm talking about possibly loosing his job and than begging the community for some sort of donation. Right after he tells us that he mated with his wife and pulled his groin. No offense Wombat, if having sex is to much strain on your present outcome on your life, just stick to masterbation and Cheapy's Pornhub recomendation. Looks like I have to check out Nick's Podcast now....

Well you see we recorded the interview before the show, therefore I already knew that there was discussion coming up later in the show about donations. It was abit of foreshadowing/callback. I am explaining this to you Dave because I am aware that you are not as smart as the average listeners and need these things explained to you in small words. Please let me know if you still have problems as I am sure of the other listeners can make you a graph.
Ya... I'll have to agree with Wombat "ruling". Keep it up man!
Viva La Wombat!

You just came off way too needy. Even with the foreshadowing of the conversation. You may have been joking but I just sensed desperation in your voice. If you need money that bad I will be more than happy to paypal you some. Also, if there is a donation made to you Wombat will the CAG community get the same treatment of beta testing CAG's new feature like they do with donating to Child's Play?

As for the not being smarter than your average listener comment, just refer to our previous argument where you ended up agreeing with me. So in essence you agree with a dumbass? There is a difference from being un-educated and a straight up Dick. Sorry for not kissing your ass around here like so many other CAG's, I gotta mix it up here some how. To bring up TMI like you did in this podcast and not expecting anyone to make fun of it makes you naive. Also, Cheapy did fuck up but he was more humble and realized what he did was dumb as shit. Also, yours is more comical as well.

I am a fan of wombat despite this :booty:

As I said in the Cagbag, if Suttner (who seems like a nice enough guy) doesn't have the courage to call Bettenhausen out on his sony crush, I can't have any faith in him to accurately review any game.
