I think CheapyD needs to keep his opinion about the WiiU to himself.
I get that it doesn't appeal to him but for a ton of people out there, they are more than happy with the console.
I don't think buying a WiiU now is a bad idea. The library is huge and excellent games from Nintendo.

I play Forza with my son, split-screen (only reason for me to buy Forza Motorsports, if you already have Forza Horizon. Never tried it?).
Forza 4: Split-Screen Mode: Only 2 AI cars.
Forza 5: (skipped it)
Forza 6: Split-Screen Mode: Zero AI cars. What? Every split-screen game has to be player vs player, no other cars. AND no night. AND no weather effects. AND no interor perspective. WTF?
Plus: Some of the best tracks have been removed. And it doesn't really look any better (to me).
Btw: Forza Horizon 2 is great for a 9 year old, my son is 9, he has also beaten FH1 back then.
