CAGcast #55: Top Guns

Microsoft should send you guys free shit and lots of it. if I were to get a current gen console other than the DS it would be the 360 just based on what you guys say about the consoles.

Sounds like you are both warming up to your Wii systems though.

Great show, guys.

I'm surprised Resistance isn't doing for you, Cheapy. Ever since I got a few hours into it, I can't go back to CoD3. Loving the weapons, the level designs, and that ramping difficulty. You're right about that, btw--it gets pretty freaking hard. And I must admit that replaying those difficult sections grates on me.

Good show the sound is much better.
Oh hell no! It's on now. The internet war has officially begun. This thing gets up to episode 55 and now they think they're the new hotness? When they hit over 200 episodes with over 1000 hours of content, then maybe..MAYBE they'll be in the same league as All Games Interactive. (And by same league, I mean that they'd still be the Golden State Warriors while AGI is the Lakers. )

Cheap Ass Gamer needs to change their name to Punk Ass Gamers.

I take it he's not eligible to win the Rockstar prize pack?

That was some good stuff, I like the clearer audio makes it much easier to listen too and raises the production value which means more listeners will stick with it and the listner rate will go up... good times indeed!
Joystiq won't post your charity raffle because they've decided to do their own apparently. Wouldn't want to help raise even more money right stiq?
Aw, c'mon Petrie! You'd argue that we manufacture drama when you seem to be in that very same line of work, as evidenced here. Of course we would want to raise more money for a great charity. Why didn't we run a post earlier? Cheapy asked me to a few days back and I just didn't make time. I should have passed it along to my team. See? No big drama. No conspiracy to make sure OUR charity raffle was the only one we'd promote.

And I agree, the show sounds much better. New software? New mics?

I don't know all the specifics, but I know each of them recorded their own individual audio this time and then the two files were somehow combined into one - probably by using a centrifuge.

About Splinter Cell: The color version of the night vision goggles is something you unlock later in the game. Probably why you didn't notice it until the end.

Guys, dont let the feud thing go on, clear it up. That was the least fun part of the episode, it makes you guys sound a bit on the juevenille side. If anything invite them on the show to talk about their show, get better visibility for both shows.

Cheapy was on their show today to settle things. It's over now.

My girlfriend made this comment, the cagcast is getting too long, and too unfocused, she can't stay awake for it anymore.

I agree, we've been enjoying the cagcast for quite a bit, but honestly, the contents are becoming more and more all over the place. Is it no longer going to be mostly about games and gaming news? We love the rapport between Cheapy and Wombat, but they're all over the place in terms of topics.

Casters have good personality, but we don't think the cast can survive on just personality alone.

I will agree with the above poster about the length. Part of the reason I rarely listen to the CAGcast is that they are way too long IMO.

I'm glad I checked the site this morning before work. Great episode.

I can't remember if this was discussed in the latest episode or not since I listened to about 3-4 today but..

As for Cheapy considering a Japanese 360 - I say go for it! I recently bought one and the menus can be changed to english and it's compatible with ALL asia region games from play-asia, which makes for a huge saving (half price for me).

The best part about a podcast is that you can fast forward any parts you aren't interested in. Unlike movies or TV shows, there is no dramatic conclusion that you will miss out on if you stop listening at any point.

I'd say we get far more complaints about the shows being too short (when they are 1 hour or less) as compared to being too long.

For those that want to skip around. Is it possible for you to also put the time mark for each topic. Just like how you add the topic list, just add the time mark to it so for those that cant listen to the whole show can just skip around to what they want.

also, when can we get to hear mrs cheapyd and mrs wombat again?

Woo... I think that was my "decent Picard" I sent you Cheapy. I may have sent Geordi to Wombat, I can't recall (he's also set to Mingle), but Spock's not mine.

Bravo on the sound quality, it sounded like a whole new Cheapy.

About the length, I've said it numerous times before, longer is better, just ask your wives.

Enjoyable show, overall.

Let's see, I have my $40, now all I have to do is hitchhike to Thailand.

If my wife inquires, I'll just say I went to get a manicure!
I swear I don't do that.
you guys are Awesome in my book, and Its a good book too, it has pictures

Fine episode as usual, though I have to say, nothing special.

CAG needs to start a war with what's-it-called for disrespecting us.

Oh, and I want some of that Rockstar Schwag!!

Kind of late listening to this one, I actually had the same stomach virus that wombat mentioned and I'm still trying to recuperate from it. Right from the beginning I knew this was going to be a hilarious cagcast and it was. The quality on cheapy's end was excellent.

Excellent show guys. The YMIJ bit was pretty funny and I also enjoyed the Guess that console thing you did. Keep up the good work.

Good episode, guys. The only flaw that I marked was the inclusion of that fucking awful Legend of Zelda commercial at the end. I suppose it could’ve been worse; you could’ve pulled audio from those “All I Want for X-mas is a PSP” douche bags. ;)

Damn! Hopefully you guys can crush this beef that's happening. We wouldn't want another 50 cent / Ja Rule fued to break out. Loved the show.

Congrats on another fine show gents, in exchange for my time I get treated a nice solid discussion on not just games but a smidgen of your lives as well and this CheapyD I must commend you on your very candid tales from Thailand as they must have been a challenge to convey so honestly.

And I agree that airing negative reviews only begets more negative reviews. While it's unfortunate that people can launch such personal attacks on people they don't know at the same time they can't be allowed the attention they want. If your show is good the positives will far outweigh the negatives. People know the difference between fair comments and trolls and will ignore such remarks.

I haven't listened for a few shows so I don't have a strong memory of the audio quality, but it sounded pretty good on this show. Cheapy, you're "popping" your P's and B's once in a while...it's nothing to lose sleep over but it's loud as shit when it happens. Do you have a cover on your mic?
Oh hell no! It's on now. The internet war has officially begun
And I'm sure this gives your life meaning. This is the kind of audience the AG show caters to apparently.

All twats exit to the left. This means you.

To all the feud-mongers:

Both All Games Interactive and CAGcast are just podcasts. I don't think vial insults and poopy humor are necessary. If you don't like the show, just don't listen to it.

it's a shame that Scott Rubin has gone this far down the hole ... at this point, I'm tempted to talk to a couple of people who have recently had a podcast air on AllGamesRadio to remove their show from the lineup.

By the way, fuck Scott Rubin.

I think you guys are missing the point that this "feud" was all just a simple misunderstanding. I called into AGI and settled everything.
I definitely respect the work the AGI guys are doing. Putting together a show every day requires a lot dedication.

I really hope someday we can get the CAGcast on a more traditional broadcast medium and do something more frequently.
Can we please move on past the AGI bashing and get back on topic about how great the CAGcast is? ;)

Oh, and please review us in iTunes if you haven't yet.
Can we please move on past the AGI bashing and get back on topic about how great the CAGcast is? ;)
True. Internet warz r dumb. But I gotta say, Cheapy, you and King Wombat are killin' the competition. As a former northern boy myself, I chalk it up to the wise-ass New York style of humor. :)

I actively seek out video game podcasts, and a lot of them just *awful*. You guys are actually way better than the so-called "professional" podcasts because you're just regular guys who love gaming like those of us listening.

The idea of having the show aired on "real" radio worries me, though. I've said it before, but doing that won't necessarily reap great rewards. It will, however, force you to make compromises that may be hard to live with.

Much as I'd like to see you and Wombat get further launched into the stratosphere of fame, I don't wanna see you guys get Clear Channel'd, y'know? You're too pure, too good for that.
